She pointed at Lynn.

And accused him of his crimes.

Bound up there, Lynn (;¬_¬) said, “Isn’t this a bit ridiculous...”

In an instant, Zuo Zuo (╬ಠ益ಠ) grabbed him by the collar and said, “There’s nothing ridiculous about it! You big-headed pervert with nothing but filthy thoughts in that brain of yours! You did something so despicable to us, and you still want to make excuses? Huh?!”

Lynn stared blankly at the delicate face glaring at him as she clutched his collar.

He paused.

Then a gentle smile slowly spread across his face. A faint dampness gradually appeared in his eyes as he lightly shook his head, his voice suddenly as soft as a breeze.

In an instant, Zuo Zuo (Damn it!) grabbed him by the collar and said, “There’s nothing ridiculous about it! You big-headed pervert with nothing but filthy thoughts in that brain of yours! You did something so despicable to us, and you still want to make excuses? Huh?!”

Zuo Zuo froze.

Huh?

She looked at Lynn’s smiling face, his eyes slightly red.

Something was off! What trick was this guy pulling now?

From what she knew of him, whenever he made that sort of expression, he was most likely trying to use some sentimental ploy to do something awful or dodge responsibility!

But Lynn seemed to see right through her thoughts. He gently shook his head with a smile, his eyes still damp, and said:

“I’m not trying to get sentimental... Zuo Zuo, they say a dying man’s words are always kind. I know I’ve done a lot of ridiculous things lately. Yesterday, I almost even got you all hurt... But those things... they were only because...”

As Zuo Zuo watched in a daze,

Lynn lowered his head and fell silent, his expression desolate.

He said quietly:

“It’s because I like you all so much. I really can’t bear to lose you... That’s why my mind was such a mess, and why I did something so unforgivable...”

Zuo Zuo was instantly stunned.

Wait!

Hold on!

Something didn’t feel right! Was he playing some weird trick again? But why didn’t it feel like one this time? Why had he suddenly put on such a sorrowful expression?

Lynn’s nose seemed to sting. He sniffed softly, and when he raised his head again, he was still smiling, but his eyes had turned red.

“I’m sorry...”

“Zuo Zuo, Brain...”

“Even though I kept saying I wasn’t afraid, when I think about the Gaze of hell coming in two days, I still can’t pretend not to care at all... There were so many people there that day, and Sir Aiwen and my Big Brother were all present. I didn’t want them to worry, so I acted like I didn’t care...”

“But I know the truth. My survival was only a last burst of life before the end. I’ll still die in two days, so I just wanted to truly have you all before I died. But in the end...”

“I still couldn’t bring myself to do it...”

He closed his eyes and lowered his head.

A crystal-clear tear fell with a plop onto his [beep] [beep].

Zuo Zuo stood frozen in place, slowly releasing her grip on his collar. She was suspicious, but also at a loss.

Because his tone and expression both seemed like genuine emotion.

“Brain, you...”

She suddenly remembered what she had asked him yesterday. She had asked, “Can you stop risking your life so recklessly from now on?” Yet he had only kept trying to brush the question aside...

She fell silent, staring blankly.

Lynn sniffed, then raised his head with a smile and reddened eyes. He looked at Zuo Zuo in front of him, his voice clearer than ever before.

“Zuo Zuo, I’m sorry. You asked me so sincerely yesterday, but I gave you such an unreasonable response...”

“But I really wasn’t trying to brush you off. I just... didn’t know how to tell you...”

Zuo Zuo instinctively trembled.

She lowered her head.

Her little hand tightened slightly around his collar.

Looking at her delicate face, Lynn lifted his head, leaned the back of it against the chair, and closed his eyes.

“Afterward, I thought about it all night, and I think I’ve more or less figured it out. So I’d like to take this chance to properly answer the question you asked me yesterday. I hope you’ll give me that chance. Will you, my Zuo Zuo?”

Zuo Zuo trembled all over.

Her eyes fluttered as she raised them, staring blankly at the handsome, familiar face before her. For a moment, she was completely lost.

Her lips moved, but she couldn’t get a single word out.

Lynn looked into her eyes, smiling with his eyes slightly red. “I’m sorry, Zuo Zuo. Maybe this isn’t the answer you want to hear. But if you ask me again, I’ll still give you the same answer. I’ll keep risking my life, even if it might get me killed, even if I’m scared... I’ll keep doing it just the same.”

Zuo Zuo trembled violently, her eyes instantly welling up as she looked at him in anger and heartbreak.

But before she could speak,

Lynn gazed at her with those gentle, shimmering eyes, smiling as tears welled in his own. “But if you’re the one who gets hurt, Brain would risk his life for you too. Even if it meant dying, how could I just stand by and watch my best friend’s partner suffer?”

That heartfelt gaze left Zuo Zuo standing there in a daze almost at once. Moisture shimmered in her eyes, and she could no longer say a word.

Lynn gently pressed his forehead to hers and closed his eyes. His quiet voice sounded as if he were struggling to hold back his emotions.

“Just like that time in the Colossus’s Mental Space...”

“I did something wrong then. I thought you were really going to leave me, Zuo Zuo...”

“But after I heard you calling me, I thought, I’m such a bastard. I actually wanted to leave my best friend behind. How could I ever forgive myself...”

“So right then, I made up my mind. I’d do everything I could to make sure no one around me got hurt. Even if I had to give up everything, even if people called me a brainless bastard, I’d protect my family and Close Friends...”

His eyes red, he raised his head with a smile and left a kiss on her parted lips, as if engraving the moment into his heart. Then he whispered:

“And Zuo Zuo, you’ve always been my closest partner, and the person I love.”

Buzz...

At that instant,

Zuo Zuo finally couldn’t hold herself together any longer. She choked out a sob, her eyes turning red almost instantly. She threw her arms around him and collapsed across his lap, crying bitterly.

Her petite body trembled. Tears burst from her eyes, and she sobbed uncontrollably, “Waaaah!”

A string of System notifications rang out beside Lynn’s ear.

【Ding! Your Infectious Aura has activated. Zuo Zuo has been completely moved by your charms and has lost control of her emotions. Trust toward you +10】

【Threat -1】

The Colossus’s Brain sat opposite them, staring blankly at the scene. Deep in her subconscious, she faintly sensed that something was wrong, but for the moment she couldn’t say what. She just knew something was off!

Very, very off!

Wasn’t this supposed to be a trial where she and the Queen judged this perverted lolicon who had tried to molest them?

How had the Queen been won over first?!

And what was this strange sense of danger?!

She felt that something was amiss, but couldn’t put her finger on it.

Maybe she should just leave for now.

【Danger】

Almost by reflex, she gripped the hilt and scabbard and stiffly turned around. But she had barely taken two steps when Lynn’s low, despondent voice came from behind her.

“Brain... I’m sorry I made you dislike me... Maybe, in your eyes, I really am a disgusting lolicon...”

The silver-haired girl instantly went blank, her step frozen in place.

“N-no, I just...”
