Chapter 1282: Chapter 671: Extra Story: All Is Love 2
But when he saw Alice Robinson standing alone in front of the window, lost in thought, he realized that the day’s events were far from over.
He gently closed the door behind him and walked over, resting his head on her shoulder and embracing her from behind, "Would you be willing to go to the place I’ve carefully prepared for us?"
His face was warm as it pressed against hers, but her face was cold.
When he took her hand, he found her hand was like ice, so he quickly retreated from the embrace and held her hands tightly, softly asking, "Why is your body so cold?"
She looked at him calmly, her dry lips opening with difficulty, "My body has always been like this." No matter the season, her hands and feet were always cold, something he had never paid attention to.
He rubbed her hands and chided her, "The weather’s cold, yet you don’t know to wear more clothes?" Saying that, he took off his blazer and draped it over her shoulders.
She admitted that his blazer carried the warmth of his body, enveloping her and making her feel very warm, but at this moment, she didn’t want that warmth.
Indifferently removing his blazer and returning it to him, she said in a flat tone, "This afternoon you kept asking me what concerns linger in my heart, so now I’ll open up and talk to you."
Facing her distant reaction, he frowned.
She draped the blazer over his arm, then turned to look at the floor-to-ceiling window, speaking slowly, "Do you know why I refused when you first mentioned in New York that you planned to live with Geoffrey’s family?"
His face darkened slightly; he knew what she wanted to say.
"Yes, because of Becca. I didn’t want you to meet Becca in New York. I even thought you wanted to move to Jones’ Mansion so you could live under the same roof as Becca and see each other every day."
Chester Robinson’s face grew darker as he explained, "If those were truly my thoughts, I wouldn’t have declined Aunt Evelyn’s invitation to move into Jones’ Mansion in the past."
"You’re a smart person, you know very well that it wouldn’t be suitable for you to move into Jones’ Mansion, but if you brought me along, then it would be reasonable."
"You’re overthinking it."
"I admit I might indeed be overthinking it, but didn’t you want me to tell you my concerns?" She turned her head to look at him standing in the shadows, the dim light making his face appear even more somber.
He nodded, "Alright, go on."
She looked directly at him and continued, "After coming to New York, I really thought that the happiness of my life had arrived... I had waited for the person I loved and was living with the person I loved in a place similar to a fairytale castle, but then..." Alice paused, glanced around, and suddenly chuckled, "Turns out this fairytale-like palace of happiness was built for the woman you once loved, and I’m living in a place that doesn’t belong to me. I suddenly feel that my happiness was just a joke."
Chester sighed, somewhat helplessly, "I admit the initial intention for building this villa was for Becca, but back then I hadn’t figured out my own feelings. You know very well that what we need to care about is the present, not the irrelevant past."
He regarded his past with Becca as irrelevant; she acknowledged that in this moment, her heart was moved somewhat.
"I know, I’m well aware I shouldn’t dwell on the past, because it’s impossible for you to tear down this villa and rebuild it for me. But you’ll never understand that while watching you give things up for Becca all along, I’ve never let go of the jealousy in my heart towards her."
He stepped closer to her, gently caressing her, looking deeply into her eyes, "You have no reason to be jealous because the person standing by my side right now is you."
Alice closed her eyes, "How can I not be jealous? You never dance with me, but you danced romantically with her in the T City villa. You’ve never given me anything, yet you gave this fairytale-like palace of a villa to her. Even the words ’I love you’, you said them to her first..."
Chester was slightly stunned, not expecting that these were the thoughts consuming her mind.
She took a deep breath, trying to smooth out her choked voice, laughed foolishly, "Brother, did you know? I gave up Claud and chose to be with you not because your actions at that time truly moved me, but because I couldn’t let you go... I’m useless, no matter how much I change, I’m still the same old Alice, obsessed with you, frantic for you, just wanting to be with you forever..."
