Chapter 1281: Chapter 670: Extra Story: All Is Love 1_2
Seeing her body trembling, he realized his tone was too harsh.
He walked to her, gently cradling her tear-stained face, "What do I have to do to prove my feelings for you? Do you really want me to take out my heart and show it to you?"
She cried even harder, tears falling in streams.
He gently wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes with his thumb, his voice hoarse, "Alice, if you have any concerns, you can talk to me. If you have doubts about me, you can directly ask me. Do you know that storming to Becca like this is very wrong? You could potentially hurt Becca, are you aware of that?"
While his voice was meant to comfort her, it felt more like reproach, each sentence striking her heart.
At this moment, his phone rang.
She lowered her head, sobbing.
He held her close and impatiently answered the phone, "What is it?"
"Mr. Robinson, I’ve arranged everything you asked for... Make sure you bring Mrs. Robinson at nine tonight; I guarantee your proposal will be successful tonight."
Being so close to Chester, Alice clearly heard the voice from Chester’s phone.
"Alright, let’s talk about tonight’s matters later!" Chester ended the call, not in a good mood.
Alice stared blankly at Chester.
Chester sighed and slowly confessed, "I indeed didn’t go to the company last night, nor did I attend any social gatherings. I came back late because the Royal Roses I ordered arrived." Chester gently held Alice’s shoulders, deeply gazing at her dazed face, speaking with a low voice, "I’ve never given you anything or made any solemn promise to you, so I wanted to give you an unforgettable, romantic proposal... Last night, I went to Sennaf Golf Course planning to propose to you there, because I know your favorite flowers are Royal Roses, and they were just airlifted here last night. I was afraid they wouldn’t handle things well on site, so I went there personally to supervise... I had everyone keep it a secret from you because I wanted to surprise you. The scent on me, I think it must have been from the contact with the manager of the etiquette company arranging the scene; that manager is a thirty-something woman and the wife of a business friend of mine. I didn’t pay any attention to what perfume she wore. My contact with her was solely to arrange the proposal site."
Alice looked at him, her gaze gradually scattering, her eyes losing focus.
Chester watched her unwaveringly, softly saying, "Alice, if you have any concerns, speak openly to me. We’re meant to walk this life together; even if you doubt me and Becca, you should at least ask me first, rather than blindly guessing and recklessly questioning Becca, right?"
She knew she had misunderstood Becca and felt guilty inside. She should accept his reproach, yet she couldn’t admit her fault to him, for she was wrong towards Becca, but not towards him.
Seeing her gaze scatter as if unaware, he embraced her and softly comforted, "Alright, we’ve said what needed to be said... Let’s go home first, we’ll talk about the rest at home."
Alice didn’t respond, allowing Chester to hold her as she sat in the car.
Once in the car, Chester kissed her forehead, "I might have been too harsh just now; don’t take it to heart..."
Alice still leaned against the seat with vacant eyes, silent tears falling from her eyes.
Seeing her tears, he paused starting the engine and tenderly wiped them away, "Come now, don’t cry... I didn’t mean to be harsh; I just want you to understand that our days together ahead are long, and if you have any concerns, you should tell me first. Rushing to Becca like that, although Howard Geoffrey didn’t say anything and only mentioned that you were upset and asked me to come here to get you, have you thought that your suspicion might also make Howard Geoffrey misunderstand Becca?"
Alice took a deep breath, stifling the pain in her heart. He didn’t know that while seemingly comforting, each of his words pierced her heart like a sword.
He didn’t understand what mattered to her.
She didn’t respond to him, so he gently suggested, "Let’s go home first."
She still didn’t respond, just stared blankly ahead.
On the way back to the villa, Alice’s tears gradually stopped.
Chester also gave Alice time to think quietly, not speaking the entire journey.
By the time they arrived at the villa, it was already five in the afternoon.
Rachel was already home from school, seeing Daddy holding Mommy as they walked in from outside, Rachel pursed her lips, "Mommy, you promised to pick me up this afternoon, but you didn’t."
Alice, who had been in a daze, finally snapped back to reality.
Returning to her senses, she realized she was already at the villa, with her daughter’s adorable little face right in front of her.
Chester picked up Rachel, gently placating, "Sorry, sweetheart, Daddy and Mommy had things to do this afternoon."
Rachel noticed Alice’s red eyes, her pretty eyebrows furrowed, "Mommy, did you cry?"
"No." Alice regained her consciousness in front of the child.
"But your eyes are red."
"Oh, maybe some sand blew into Mommy’s eyes when I was outside just now." Alice said, not forgetting to rub her eyes.
Rachel believed her and said to her father, "Daddy, there’s sand in Mommy’s eyes, you should help Mommy blow it out."
"No need." Alice took Rachel from Chester’s arms, smiling, "The sand’s already out."
"Oh."
"Sweetheart, what did you learn at school today?" Alice asked, carrying Rachel to the sofa, showing her usual concern for Rachel.
Rachel hugged Alice’s neck, excitedly answering, "Today the teacher took us outside and taught us to identify beneficial and harmful insects, it was so much fun..."
"Which are the beneficial ones?"
"It’s..."
In front of Rachel, Alice and Chester’s interaction showed no cracks, and during dinner, the three of them laughed and chatted just like usual.
This couldn’t help but make Chester think that today’s matter had passed.
Since Alice had realized her mistake, Chester didn’t want to say more, so tonight’s proposal arrangement was intended to proceed according to the original plan.
However, what was originally supposed to be a surprise for Alice now could only be a direct trip to the meticulously prepared proposal site.
Advising the servants to take care of Rachel, Chester returned to the room to prepare to execute tonight’s proposal plan.
