Lars immediately sat down beside her.

"Of course I will help you, Celine. Tell me what happened," Lars said.

"I... I can’t do it anymore. All of this..." Celine said slowly.

"...It’s eating me alive." Tears began to fall down her cheeks.

Lars let her cry. It was as if she had been holding all those tears inside for a very long time. After a few minutes, Celine finally began to calm down. Lars then looked at her.

"Celine, I already heard from the doctor. Why did you want to take your own life?" Lars asked directly, not wanting to beat around the bush.

"I decided to stop all of this, but those people...they kept telling me to do this...that is why... I thought it would be better if I just died," she said.

"Those people... who are they?" Lars asked, his tone beginning to grow angry.

Celine didn’t answer. It was as if she was terrified to even mention their names. Whatever those people had done to her, it seemed to have left her with deep trauma. Lars decided not to push her for an answer.

Just then, a doctor approached the bed with a smile.

"Alright, Miss Celine. You can be discharged today." Lars then helped settle all the payments and collect her medication.

Lars rode his scooter with Celine sitting behind him. Soon, they arrived at their rented building. Celine then turned toward Lars.

"I heard from the doctor that you’re the one who paid for everything. Why did you sacrifice yourself for me, Lars?" Celine asked.

"Do I need a reason to help someone?" Lars replied with a smile.

"I-I will pay back all the costs..." Celine said.

"There is no need. You can repay me by stopping yourself from getting hurt and staying healthy. And, please stop doing whatever you’re doing if it’s something you don’t want to do," Lars said.

Their eyes met for a few seconds.

"Finally, you’re back, Celine. Where have you been?" Suddenly, a male voice came from nearby. It was Thom.

Lars and Celine turned their heads and saw a group of people beginning to surround them. Lars immediately recognized them. They were the same people he had repeatedly seen around the building. Each of them wore a sinister smirk on their faces.

"What do you want from her?" Lars asked as he stepped in front of Celine.

"No, Lars! You better leave! These people... they’re dangerous!" Celine warned him.

"Yes, you better listen to her, brat, if you treasure your life. Now, come with us, Celine. There are many customers waiting for you already," Thom said.

Lars could feel Celine trembling behind him. She was terrified.

"So, these are the people who have been making your life miserable?" Lars’s eyes sharpened as he stared at Thom, his hand slowly forming a fist. He then raised his hand forward and a spear suddenly materialized in his grasp.

"Stay behind me, Celine."

Celine’s eyes widened in shock because Lars was actually preparing to fight them.

The group immediately drew their weapons. Each of them was a hunter in their own right. Lars didn’t hesitate and he charged forward after equipping Impulse Lancer.

"Impulse Dash!"

His figure instantly disappeared before reappearing directly in front of Thom.

"Impulse Swing!"

Lars swung his spear in a wide arc, striking all the enemies within range with a single attack.

CLANG!

Thom managed to raise his axe and block the attack just in time. However, the other enemies weren’t as fortunate. The spear swept through them, sending several of them flying as they suffered injuries.

"Tch! This brat is actually a hunter too. This is troublesome!" Thom said as he quickly made a phone call.

The other gang members tried to attack Lars, but they were simply too weak to keep up with him as Lars dominated the fight. He moved across the area without stopping, constantly striking his enemies with his spear.

Suddenly, Thom activated a skill from his Terra Defender class.

"Prisoner Wall!"

Four massive walls made of earth erupted from the ground, surrounding Lars from all directions.

BOOM!

The walls slammed together, completely crushing everything inside.

"That brat is surely crushed now." A smirk appeared on Thom’s face.

Celine trembled in fear as she watched Lars get trapped.

But suddenly, cracks began to appear across the earthen walls. Then, a light burst from within the dirt and blasted the walls apart.

BOOM!!

Lars emerged completely unharmed.

"What?! That’s impossible! How did he survive?!" Thom exclaimed in shock.

Lars had managed to change his class to Radiant Paladin, which possessed the skill Radiant Barrier, allowing him to shield himself from damage and absorb the impact. Lars then switched to Phantom Magus and equipped his Rude Steel Sword.

"Blink Step!"

His figure disappeared before instantly appearing in front of Thom. He then unleashed aggressive attacks toward Thom non-stop.

Thom was forced entirely onto the defensive because Lars’s attacks were simply too fast. He didn’t even have enough time to evade them.

"Shadow Burst!"

Darkness gathered in Lars’s palm before he slammed it against Thom’s axe.

BOOM!!!

A violent explosion of darkness erupted. Thom was sent tumbling several meters backward, while his axe flew out of his hands and landed some distance away.

"Urggh... this brat... is so strong..." Thom groaned.

Lars slowly walked toward Thom with his sword on his hand. He then pull Thom up and shouted at him.

"Who are you guys?! What did you do to Celine? Tell me!" Lars asked.

"Urgh! You... you made a grave mistake by attacking us!" Thom said.

Kreeek! Kreeek!

Suddenly, Lars heard something scraping against the ground behind him. He turned his head. A long blade suddenly flashed under the sunlight and swung toward him.

Swoosh!

Lars managed to jump backward at the last moment. However, the blade still grazed his cheek, leaving a thin cut that began to bleed.

He looked ahead and saw a tall man wearing a white swordsman’s robe standing there. A massive sword hung at his side. His hair was long and black. But the most prominent feature was the cloth covering his eyes.

"Where are you looking?"

Suddenly, Lars’s eyes widened. The man had appeared beside him. Lars quickly raised his sword and blocked the incoming attack. But then, another voice suddenly came from behind him.

"Can you see?"

"Tch!" Lars immediately retreated as far as he could.

’What is this guy? What class does he have?!’ For the first time, Lars began to panic.

The man standing before him was dangerous. Extremely dangerous.

Suddenly, a sharp pain felt in Lars’s abdomen. He looked down. A long blade had pierced straight through his back and emerged from his abdomen.

"Guh!" Lars then vomited blood.

"Lars!" Celine shouted.
