Chapter 63: Chapter 63 Help Me
"Let’s finalize our deal," Melodie said, clearly satisfied with the new class. She believed her strength had risen to an entirely new level, and she could now help her party clear even more difficult dungeons.
Lars nodded. This was the moment he had been waiting for. He was curious to see how much Melodie would actually pay him. Of course, he had already calculated the prices he wanted.
"Can you give me the price for all the Class Books?" Melodie asked.
"For Ice Warlock and Tempest Duelist, I will base the prices on my previous auctions. Ice Warlock was sold for 550,000 Zents, so I want 600,000. For Tempest Duelist, it was sold for 150,000, so I want 200,000."
"For Radiant Paladin, I want at least 500,000. And for Gale Bowmaster, I want 200,000 as well." Lars brought out the calculation notes he had prepared beforehand.
"And for Lunar Sword Saint, I believe it’s much more powerful than Battle Reaper, which I sold for nearly 700,000 Zents. So, I want 750,000 Zents for it," Lars said.
"Hmm...so the total is 2.25 million Zents," Melodie said as she thought for a moment.
"Is my price too expensive?" Lars suddenly asked. He couldn’t help but feel a little worried. Of course, he believed all of his prices were reasonable based on the current market.
If he were dealing with a large company, he wouldn’t have any problem asking for this amount. But this time, he was dealing with an individual. He wondered if Melodie didn’t have enough money, or perhaps she simply didn’t want to spend that much.
"No. It’s not that," Melodie replied.
In reality, Melodie thought Lars’s asking price was far below what she had expected. For this deal, she had prepared at least 5 million Zents. It was money she had received from her share of her father’s company.
However, she obviously wasn’t going to tell Lars that. She was a businesswoman herself. Being too honest during negotiations would only make you lose money.
"Alright! I agree with that. Let’s close this deal."
"Really?!" Lars couldn’t believe his ears.
"Yup. I will pay you 2.05 million Zents after deducting the advance payment. For the payment, I will send it in phases. It would be troublesome to transfer the entire amount at once."
"Thank you, Melodie," Lars said.
"I should be the one thanking you," Melodie chuckled. "Next time, if you have another interesting Class Book, you can sell it to me."
Lars nodded. After that, Melodie’s driver drove Lars back to the Dungeon Hub. Along the way, Lars couldn’t believe what was happening to him.
"In just a few days, I will be a millionaire...is this really not a dream?" Lars muttered.
He never expected his life to change so dramatically. Just a few months ago, he had almost no money. Now, he was loaded with cash.
And all of it was thanks to the ability of his Class. After arriving at the Dungeon Hub, Lars immediately rode his scooter to the hospital to pay for Celine’s remaining doses. As soon as he arrived, the doctor gave him some good news.
"Celine has already regained consciousness."
Lars was relieved to hear it. However, the doctor’s expression suddenly changed.
"There is actually something I need to tell you, Mr. Lars. As you’re the only person close to her who has been involved in her treatment, I think I need to disclose this to you."
"After she woke up, we asked her some questions and gathered more details about what happened."
"When we compared her answers with the results of her blood tests, we came to a conclusion."
Lars listened carefully.
"We believe the overdose was intentional."
Lars’s eyes immediately widened.
"Why did she want to do that?" Lars asked.
"We don’t know the reason either. That’s why I wanted to ask you, since you seem to be close to her. Is she having some kind of problem? Perhaps financial issues or family problems that might have triggered this?"
"I...I don’t know either," Lars said.
Although he had told the doctor that he was her neighbor, the truth was that he didn’t know much about Celine’s personal problems.
"I see. After she’s discharged, I hope you can keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn’t do anything that could put her in danger. We will also arrange an appointment for her with a psychiatrist."
"Thank you, Doctor. Can I visit her in the ward now?"
"Of course."
Lars then walked into the ward. The beds were arranged in rows, and the ward wasn’t very crowded, with many beds still empty.
Then, Lars noticed Celine sitting on one of the beds near the barred window. Her eyes seemed distant as she stared outside. The wind coming through the window gently blew her light blue hair.
Lars slowly approached her.
"Hi, Celine. How are you feeling now?"
Celine turned her head toward Lars before looking back out the window.
"I brought you some fruits. Do you want some?"
Celine still didn’t respond. Lars tried to make some light conversation with her, but she still showed no sign that she wanted to talk.
After nearly half an hour, visiting time was over, and Lars left the ward. Before leaving, he promised that he would visit her every day.
For the next few days, Lars kept his promise. He visited Celine every day and sometimes even made jokes, hoping to get some kind of reaction from her.
His frequent visits soon became a topic of gossip among the nurses.
"Hey, look. That guy is here again," one nurse said at the nursing counter.
"Is he that girl’s boyfriend? It must be hard for him. I pity him," another nurse said.
"That kind of woman can still get a partner, while I’ve been working as a nurse and have never even been approached by a man. Life isn’t fair," another nurse complained.
As usual, Lars placed some fresh fruit on the table. He noticed that the previous fruit was still untouched. He sighed before sitting beside her.
But once again, Celine remained silent. After nearly thirty minutes, Lars decided to leave. However, just as he was about to stand up, Celine suddenly grabbed his shirt.
"Please... help me, Lars..."
She finally spoke.
