Chapter 38: Chapter 38 Raw Strength

’This guy is strong! He killed that monster using only his feet. What rank and class does he have? ’

Lars wondered. Just then, Ryuken extended his hand toward Lars.

"You can call me Lars." He accepted the handshake.

"Alright, Lars and Justin. So, where are you planning to go?" Ryuken asked.

"Right now, we got separated from our friend. So we’re planning to find him while making our way toward that palace." Lars pointed toward the palace in the distance.

"I got separated from my group too. How about we travel together and look for our friends?" Ryuken suggested.

"That’s a good idea." Lars nodded. "But before that, what class do you have?"

Lars needed to know Ryuken’s actual role.

If Ryuken was a frontline fighter, then Lars could switch to a ranged class, either a mage or an archer. But if Ryuken was actually a tanker, then Lars could choose either of those or become another aggressive frontline fighter with Lunar Blader or Impulse Lancer.

Suddenly, Ryuken chuckled, leaving Lars confused. He wondered if his question had somehow sounded like a joke.

"I don’t have a class. What you saw just now was my raw strength." Ryuken flexed his muscles while grinning widely.

Lars and Justin looked at each other.

"Wait a minute, what? You don’t have a class? Then how did you become a hunter?" Lars asked in disbelief.

As far as he knew, to register as a hunter, a person needed to possess a class. So how could the man standing in front of him not have one?

"I became a hunter because of my own strength. Even without a class, my punches can easily obliterate monsters. I don’t need to rely on that artificial thing."

’ Crazy! This man is crazy! I actually teamed up with a crazy person. Is his entire group just as crazy as he is? ’

That was Lars’s conclusion. But as crazy as Ryuken sounded, his strength was undeniably real. For now, Lars had no choice but to team up with him.

As they walked, Lars kept hearing Justin cursing at his phone.

"What’s wrong?" Lars asked.

"There’s no connection. I don’t know if it’s my Mobile Server or something else. This might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to livestream inside a Rogue Dungeon, so I can’t miss it." Justin clenched his teeth as he kept adjusting the settings on his phone.

"I heard from the people outside that communication is disrupted in here. This dungeon probably blocks all forms of communication," Ryuken said.

"Is that so?" Justin looked frustrated, but he still refused to give up.

"Never mind! If I can’t livestream, then I will just record everything, make it exclusive content, and then charge double the price. Hehehe!"

Lars could only shake his head. Sometimes, he was genuinely amazed by Justin’s determination.

After a few minutes of walking, Ryuken suddenly pointed at something. Lars followed the direction of his finger and was shocked.

A body was lying on top of a rooftop. Judging from the clothes, it was clearly another hunter like them.

"That guy must have fallen straight from the dungeon portal. Poor guy," Ryuken said before continuing to walk.

Lars stared at the corpse. It was the first time he had ever seen a dead body inside a dungeon.

"But he should have had a Revive Crystal. Why didn’t he use it?" Justin suddenly asked. He already knew the function of the crystal after Max had explained it to him before.

"Not every Revive Crystal can successfully revive someone. Each crystal has its own grade, and if the dungeon’s rank surpasses the crystal’s grade, then it becomes useless. At least, that’s what my friend told me. I’ve never had to use one myself, so I don’t really know how it works," Ryuken explained.

Justin nodded. He then pulled Lars, who was still standing there staring at the body.

’If he had a wife and children, how would his family react? It must be devastating.’

That was the only thought running through Lars’s mind. Until now, he had always believed that dungeons were relatively safe. But at this moment, he finally realized.

A dungeon was never a kind place.

---

At the western side of the city...

"Oscar! Finish them!" Denis shouted as he cast roots that bound three giant bear monsters in place.

"Blazing Lance!"

A concentrated beam of flames shot forward, piercing through all three monsters before burning and slaying them.

Then, from a nearby house, a mantis-like monster suddenly emerged and swung its razor-sharp blades toward Denis.

But before it could strike, Sarah rushed forward and leaped into the air.

"Hiyaargh!"

She swung her hand in a single and clean motion. The mantis monster’s head was instantly decapitated and fell to the ground, followed by the rest of its body.

"Thank you, Sarah."

"You’re welcome, Denis." Sarah smiled before searching the monsters for any loot they might have dropped.

"Is everyone alright?" Zane suddenly asked as she walked toward them while adjusting her gloves. Behind her lay a mountain of monster corpses.

"Yeah. No problem, Boss," Oscar replied.

The four of them had landed together after entering the dungeon. Thanks to Zane, all of them had reached the ground safely. However, the other members of Mazeltov were nowhere to be seen.

"There are certainly a lot of monsters here. It’s nothing like the Rogue Dungeon we explored years ago," Denis said.

"You guys have entered a Rogue Dungeon before?" Oscar asked. As the newest member, he had never heard about it.

"Yeah. But that Rogue Dungeon wasn’t nearly as big as this one." Sarah turned to Zane. "Miss Zane, do you think this is a World Dungeon?"

Zane nodded.

"It’s possible." She then looked toward the towering red pillar of light in the distance, the destination they were heading for.

"Let’s keep moving."

Suddenly, as they were passing through a residential district, a monster crashed through the wall of a nearby house and landed right in front of them.

All of them immediately became alert. They turned the corner and were greeted by a shocking sight.

"Hey! There’s a guy fighting in the air!" Oscar pointed.

Zane focused her gaze on the man, who was surrounded by dozens of flying insect monsters. He kept darting through the air, skillfully dodging and attacking them one after another.

’That person is good. An S-Rank hunter?’ she wondered. But then, her eyes suddenly widened.

"Doesn’t that guy... look familiar?" Sarah asked.

The others looked more carefully. A moment later, all of them realized the same thing. The man fighting in the sky...

...was the person they had once kidnapped.
