Chapter 197: HER ABILITY

"This is going to be really painful, Seara," Jared said. He gave her an apologetic look, though the situation was entirely not his fault.

"I know." Seara breathed through the pain. She was already in pain, but the thought of not being able to use her hand anymore scared her more than the pain did.

"Okay. Hold on." Jared placed his hand on Seara’s shoulder, and she bit down on the clothes tightly, waiting for the pain to come.

And when it did, Seara felt as if someone had just knocked the air out of her lungs; it was as though someone had just broken some of her bones at the same time. This kind of physical pain was nothing like anything she had ever felt before.

She screamed through the clothes, grinding her teeth to the point she might chip them, as hot tears streamed down her eyes.

The pain was blinding her as Seara squeezed her eyes shut and reminded herself to breathe. Her ears were ringing, and Jared was repeatedly saying something, which she guessed was an apology for the pain he had caused.

Yet, Seara was too deep in this excruciating agony; she couldn’t focus on anything else but her shoulder. The anguish vibrated throughout her entire body, making her curl up.

"How is it?" Kayden came to check because he could hear the muffled sound. He watched Seara on the floor while Jared was trying to soothe the pain by caressing the spot where he fixed it.

"In pain," Jared replied; he looked at Kayden briefly. "Go back outside and look out the street. We have to get to King Asher’s territory as soon as possible and ask for help to find Jeremy and the others."

They couldn’t relax before they made sure everyone was in a safe place, and right now, King Asher’s territory was the only safe place they had.

They had captured Altair, and their king was on his own mission in the capital city, which left only Asher behind as their last stronghold.

Asher could do this because his territory was far away from the capital city; that’s why the impact was not as strong there, and the people were not too violent.

"Go and find a car we can use." Jared waved to Kayden, and the other warrior left the changing room.

Meanwhile, it took half an hour for Seara to regain her composure and feel slightly better with the pain. She pushed herself up from the cold floor with Jared’s help.

"Feeling good?"

"No. It hurts." Seara furrowed her brows when she tried to move her hand. The pain was still there, but it became more bearable.

"We need to leave. Do you think you can walk?" Jared checked other injuries on her. Knowing that Seara didn’t have a healing ability because her wolf spirit was dead made him anxious if she suffered from more severe wounds.

Thankfully, aside from a few scratches, there was nothing fatal or life-threatening.

"I think I can." Seara stood up with Jared’s help, and both of them walked to the front door, where Kayden was still standing there, watching the situation.

"How is it?" Jared asked, approaching him.

Kayden studied Seara briefly before he answered the question. "There is a car there that we can use, and I think those people have gone."

"No, they have not," Seara said grimly, which made the two of them give her a questioning look. "They are still around; they are close. We can’t go out now."

Kayden and Jared exchanged looks. "How do you know that?"

"I know." Seara hugged herself. She felt cold as this dreadful feeling got stronger. "Get out of the window; they are coming this way."

Kayden didn’t react quickly enough; he was still contemplating what she said, because he didn’t see anyone here, and he thought he could reach the car if he ran fast enough.

But Jared took action; he grabbed Kayden by the back of his hoodie and took them both to the shadow of the darkness.

This shop was rather dark, and the only source of light came from the street lights and flashing lights of the cars passing by.

The three of them huddled together under the rack of clothes, staring at the street, but Seara could feel their eyes occasionally on her, waiting to see what she meant by what she said earlier.

And five minutes later, three people walked down the sidewalk, and then three more people; they were looking for something, or someone. They pressed their face against the closed shops, trying to see if there was someone inside.

Seeing this, Jared and Kayden looked at Seara, but she was already hugging her legs, shivering, as if she was feeling cold.

Two more people pressed their faces against the window of the shop they had broken into, but because of the lack of light and how dark it was here, they couldn’t spot them.

It could also be because the glass was tinted; whatever it was, they were glad.

On the other hand, Seara focused on this dreadful feeling. She tried to embrace it instead of being scared away from it.

This ability was scary, but with it, she could help with their current situation. She pressed her lips together as the negative feeling gradually diminished while those people moved to the other block.

She might be able to locate them if she honed this ability, but it was something she had to work on later.

"I think it is safe now." Kayden craned his neck to see the situation outside.

"Not yet." Seara grabbed his hoodie and pulled him down to stop peeking at the street. "Stay; I will tell you if it is already safe."

Kayden and Jared looked at her with confusion. "How did you do that?"

Zade didn’t tell anyone about her ability, and it was for a good reason; thus, Seara wouldn’t say anything. "I just did. Please, trust me on this."
