Chapter 196: UNBEARABLE PAIN
Seara’s ears were ringing, and she had a difficult time breathing because of the car crash. Her head was so heavy, and her surroundings were spinning.
There were so many people talking at the same time, but she couldn’t make out what they were talking about. What was wrong with them? Couldn’t they talk slowly?
Abruptly, her body was being picked up, and she was on someone’s back as the person moved very quickly.
Seara fought the fogginess in her head; it felt like trying to see through thick smoke as she tried to regain consciousness.
However, the pain set her back. Her whole body was in so much pain. Not only that but there was also this dreadful feeling that crept in the more she regained control over her body and became more attuned to her surroundings.
"Get inside!" Jared’s voice echoed; he hissed in a low, vicious tone, and Seara heard the rattle of the door being unlocked.
"I am sure they are under the influence; it is not hard to see that," Kayden said.
"Put her down on the floor, check her wound," Jared ordered Kayden, and Seara felt the coldness of the tiles on her back.
"She is fine, but she broke her left leg and dislocated her shoulder," Kayden reported back after he checked on her. "Aside from a few grazes and bruises, I don’t think she suffers from bleeding, but I can’t tell if it is an internal one."
Jared cursed under his breath. "Did you see the others?"
"I saw them running in different directions when the people started chasing us."
After the car crash, some people rushed to help. It caused traffic too, and there were a lot of people there, but as shifters, they healed so fast, and they watched the way their wounds closed.
And all hell broke loose. The people started hunting them down.
When one of them managed to get Leia, Jeremy had no other choice but to fight back, which resulted in the death of the human.
After witnessing this death, the other humans saw blood, and now they were out there looking for them. Needless to say, the humans would kill them once they caught them.
"We need to get her to the hospital." Kayden scratched his head.
"We can’t. We have to reach King Asher’s territory first. We can’t trust anyone here."
There was a loud sound from people outside, shouting and yelling, cursing because they couldn’t find them, and both Jared and Kayden stopped talking; their eyes gleamed dangerously under the streetlight that filtered through from the window into this closed shop.
"If it comes to the worst, you take her away," Jared said in a very low voice only Kayden could hear.
Kayden wanted to protest, but he didn’t have a better solution; running with Seara didn’t guarantee he was going to survive. No, they were ready to die, since their assignment was to bring the king’s mate to safety.
Right at that time, Seara finally managed to open her eyes; she saw the look on Jared’s and Kayden’s faces. The room was dark, and she felt the dreadful feeling that had been clouding her mind start to fade away as the people out there left this area.
"Jared? Kayden?"
Both of them looked at her with relief, but they immediately gestured for Seara not to speak. It was not safe enough, since they still could see those people out there.
"Can you sit down? Are you hurt somewhere?" Kayden asked when it was quiet outside. The people must have left.
"My whole body hurts, but my shoulder hurts the most." Seara groaned when Kayden tried to help her sit down.
She looked around her, and they were inside a boutique. There were a few clothes on display as they hid behind the registration table.
"Where are the others?" Seara immediately noticed there were only the two of them here. "What happened to the others?"
For a moment, the pain was forgotten as she was worried.
"We were separated, but don’t worry, the four of them will be fine. Leigh and Lidya are with them, and they can fight," Kayden tried to reassure Seara, but it sounded like they were in danger instead.
Jared elbowed him to stop talking when he saw the grim look on Seara’s face. "Your shoulder is dislocated, and we have to fix it, or it will become a problem later."
Jared was not a healer or a doctor, but as a shifter, he had experienced dislocation a few times or helped his fellow warriors fix it.
"But it will be very painful," he warned her.
"How painful?" Seara hated to be hurt, especially when she was already in pain.
"Basically, your bones are not in the correct place, so I have to put them back in the right place. "It is similar to breaking a bone, more or less." Jared was not good at giving analogies, and the way he said it made Seara even more scared.
"Can’t we leave it just like that?" Seara gulped down with difficulty.
"Unfortunately, you can’t do that. Unless you are okay with not using your arm anymore," Jared added. "It will be quick, I promise."
"But it still hurts, right?" Seara watched Jared nod. "Okay."
"Kayden, look around to see if those people are nearby." Jared nodded at Kayden, who immediately went to the door and checked.
"Some people were walking in the street, but I don’t think they are part of the people hunting us down. I think they are just pedestrians."
Jared grabbed a shirt from the rack. "Here, put it in your mouth; you have to be as quiet as possible."
Seara took the shirt and bit down on it as Jared moved her to the changing room to reduce the noise.
"Are you ready?" Jared looked sorry for her.
If it had not been for Kayden, who had thrown himself to protect her during the crash, they might have lost her now.
