Claimed by the Mad Lycan King
Chapter 181: A NEW HOST
"Where should I drive you? Do you need to make a phone call?" Matt helped his father get into the car and handed him his phone. He glanced at the wounds on his hand and his cheek, which had not yet healed. Instead, black blood was still oozing out.
Oscar, on the other hand, made a phone call after he sat beside Matt; he had already memorized this certain number. Within a few rings, the call went through, and someone picked it up.
"Owen? They found out about me, but I managed to escape with Matt." Oscar listened to the other person attentively. "Yes... he is..." Oscar glanced at Matt, who kept his focus on the road. He kept glancing back at the rearview mirrors, just in case they were being followed. "I am with my son," Oscar said.
Matt didn’t look like he was paying attention to what his father was saying. He had to get them out of there as soon as possible.
"Where should we go, Dad?" Matt asked urgently. "You can’t be here; the Lycan king will hunt you down."
"Wait," Oscar said to Matt as he talked to the person on the phone and told him about his whereabouts. "Take me to Wvern City."
"What?" Matt glanced at Oscar in disbelief. "That place has been under humans’ control."
But Oscar insisted. "Before we enter the city, there is an abandoned building in sector six; take me there, and someone will pick me up."
Matt argued a bit, but because his father insisted, he had no other choice but to take him in the direction he told him.
It took four hours of driving, and occasionally Matt would check the rearview mirrors to make sure they were not being followed.
Meanwhile, Oscar checked on the wound on his cheek, but the more he saw it, the more he was upset. Because of that, he chose to fall asleep.
When they were getting closer to the building that Oscar had mentioned, Matt woke his father up.
"Where should I drop you?" Matt asked. "Are you sure this is safe for you?"
"Yes, you don’t need to worry." Oscar got out of the car. "Come with me for a while; I want you to meet with someone."
Oscar told Matt to come out of the car, and both of them walked into the abandoned building. This place was actually going to be turned into a shopping center, but because of a few problems, the building process was stopped, and now it was abandoned.
Matt had never been here before, but he could smell that something was off. They were not alone; at least, there were five people here.
"Dad," Matt called his father as he followed behind him, watching his broad back like he used to do when he was little.
"What?" Oscar didn’t even turn around as he checked the situation inside the building.
They were in the lobby; if they looked up, they would see a big hole in the ceiling. The tile floor had been broken too, and weeds sprouted joyfully in this area.
"Are you proud of me?" Matt stopped walking, and Oscar turned around to see the young man.
"Of course, I am proud of you." Oscar patted Matt on the shoulder. He could see that in the original memory. "Wait here for a while."
Matt said nothing and waited just like his father told him. And soon enough, two people emerged from behind the pillar. They walked toward them.
Matt recognized both of them; one was Owen, the head of police who became one of the leaders of the Quantum Protocol, the joint force that had just been formed to hunt down the shifters.
And the other one was Oliver; he was Owen’s brother. From what Matt learned, Oliver was Jeremy’s friend. That was all Matt knew.
"Daven!" Oscar waved his hand and rushed toward Oliver.
"Mind the way you carried yourself," Oliver reprimanded him. It was so absurd to see a young man scolding a man whom he could call a father.
But what was even stranger was to watch a man half a century old act like a little girl.
Matt didn’t know whether he had to laugh or cry when he watched the way his father acted. No. He was not his father. He knew that. In one glance, he knew his father had long gone.
"Why not? He is not going anywhere, anyway." Oscar turned around and looked at Matt. "Thank you for your compassion for your father. Don’t worry, you will join him soon."
Matt didn’t react. He simply watched his father being humiliated by the way that person acted with his father’s body.
"Are you sure you are not followed?" Owen asked. He looked around him. But he was not a shifter, so he couldn’t pick up the scent in the wind.
"Yes. He makes sure of it." Oscar nodded at Matt. "Look, what Seara has done to my face? Look!" Oscar whined to Oliver. "That bitch needs to pay for what she did to me. Once I take his body, I am going to ruin her face."
Enid could no longer use this body because the wound had caused it to decay, and the smell was nauseating.
Therefore, it was ideal to have Matt here because they could use his body.
"Come here, Matt. Let’s get it done." Oscar waved his hand. "Come here, Son."
Matt gritted his teeth, holding back his rage.
"Don’t make things difficult." Oliver pushed Oscar away from him and approached Matt.
On the other hand, Oscar flickered. One second, he was right next to Oliver; the next second he was already behind Matt. He forced him to kneel and held him down so that he wouldn’t be able to shift into his wolf form.
"Get your sister here; we don’t have much time." Owen waved his hand, and Oliver grabbed Oscar to come with him quickly. "Kneel," Owen said.
Matt didn’t fight back; instead, he stared deeply into his father’s eyes.
