Chapter 2068 - 2068: An Attrition Battle? Bring It On! (Part 2)

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The collision between the two armies was extremely intense, especially when the melee skeleton soldiers started clashing against one another and initiated a direct confrontation.

Adding the skeleton archers and skeleton mages that kept on firing from the backline, the clashes between the two legions became as chaotic as a true war between countries.

Chaotic Luck tried to use all kinds of battle formations, adjusting and responding to all the situations at hand. Unfortunately, since the opposing side was basically his clone, it was mirroring every move that he could muster.

Even if he tried to muster all kinds of special tactics that he had learned from Shin and the strategy games that he had been playing recently, his opponent would only copy and use them against him.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Adelbert was confident with the magic scroll that he had used. After all, it was something that they had acquired from another ancient ruin within the game.

It was a Pseudo Tier 4 Scroll, so its effects should not be too shabby, especially when it could mirror everything that his opponent had.

Of course, there were still a few restrictions with this spell,l just like how it could not copy how its target would think.

The clone would only copy the moves and the execution of the opposing side, but it would not know the theory behind it.

This was where its weakness was revealed.

However, with Adelbert present on the field, he would still be able to spot most of the oddities from the clashing forces and immediately spot where he needed to adjust some of their forces.

Of course, he would not blindly adjust their formation just to counter the opposing side. However, he had formed a small but elite unit that could deal with these small changes.

With this unit, he did not have to affect the overall formation of his forces whenever they moved and denied all the possible accidents that could happen.

Adelbert was much more relaxed compared to his opponent, who needed to constantly command his legion during the battle.

Chaotic Luck, on the other hand, was feeling a bit troubled after multiple clashes of their army.

No matter which tactic he used, all of them were mirrored by the opposing party, repelling every attempt that he tried.

Even the tricky and odd battle formations that he had learned from Shin were all nullified, failing to reach their goals and hidden purposes.

“Even the Pathogen Formation is useless since the opposing side can instantly spot the ‘viruses’ that I will plant in their formation due to their commander being controlled by an advanced AI,” mumbled Chaotic Luck after seeing that all the ‘viruses’ that he had planted during their exchanges were easily spotted and taken out immediately after.

As for the standard battle formations and tactics, none of them worked since he was not proficient in them, especially since the opposing side kept on mirroring his movements.

He was neither proficient in executing those tactics nor aware of their weaknesses, which would only put him in a serious predicament during the exchanges.

If he wanted to win this battle, he had to find a breakthrough somewhere. Something that could produce the greatest chance of victory.

Unfortunately, he still could not find it, no matter how much he tried.

Watching the battle and seeing the deadlock, Arthur could not help but shake his head and smile bitterly. “He is still far from being a decent commander of an army, much less an ideal one.”

“He still struggles whenever he can’t find a way to break his opponent’s form or if the situation is not going his way.”

Aoki, on the other hand, shook his head and said. “In my eyes, he is focusing more on something wrong.”

He paused for a moment, seemingly trying to confirm his thoughts, before continuing. “It is more like him making the situation more complicated when all he has to do is take the most obvious answer.”

“And that is directly taking down his opponent,” he added while pursing his lips.

“But that person is much more dangerous than he appears to be,” injected Ryoto, seemingly noticing something.

Aoki paused for a moment before nodding. “That’s right. That guy gives the impression of someone who is acting as a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

“He is dangerous,” he added, acknowledging the threat of the opposing side.

It was at this moment that Arthur suddenly injected. “Anyway, there is no need to make things too complicated and make it hard for himself.”

“He can just take the simplest and the stupidest way to solve this problem,” he paused briefly before adding next. “A battle of attrition.”

Right after saying those words, a change suddenly occurred on the battlefield.

Seeing this, Arthur smirked and pointed. “See? Even that guy agrees!”

At the same time, Chaotic Luck, who was having some troubles with the current situation, could only think of a single thing.

“Big Bro said that if things become more complicated, then it is better to return to the basics and use the most fundamental methods to break it,” he mumbled before suddenly raising his bone staff.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

He summoned more undead soldiers, increasing the size of his legion not just twice, but trice!

Along with the special buffs that he currently had, the number of the undead creatures that he summoned doubled as well, further increasing their numbers.

Naturally, there was a certain disadvantage to this. His mana consumption would further increase, and itwould be harder to keep up with it the longer the battle continued.

However, Chaotic Luck was not afraid due to the huge mana pool that he currently possessed and the extremely absurd mana regeneration that the buffs were providing him.

“Since I can’t use any tactics in this battle, let’s compare with numbers!” he mumbled before summoning a few more undead creatures, almost overwhelming the entire battle.

“I refuse to believe that you have an endless stream of mana!” he added.

The Legion of Chaotic Luck looked more like an undead horde rather than an organized army due to the sheer size that they had.

Moreover, the method of attacking became more direct yet so destructive. Even the skeleton mages and skeleton archers no longer cared whether their attacks caught their allies in collateral damage and just focused on their firepower.

Adding that the opposing side was mirroring everything that Chaotic Luck did, the two legions immediately filled the entire battlefield with their numbers, making them look like a dark sea from other people’s point of view.

There was no longer any tactics involved in their strategy. It was nothing but a battle with sheer numbers, which produced chaotic clashes everywhere.

Seeing this, Adelbert could not help but squint his eyes quite deeply, especially when he sensed the sudden change in the air.

He was not sure what it was, but he was getting a somewhat ominous feeling about this.

What made it worse was that he could not do anything at the moment since the battle between the two armies turned into an all-out brawl for the melee and a chaotic destruction for the range undeads.

Even the sky was filled with flying skeletons that both sides had summoned and immediately clashed like flocks of birds clashing against one another.

With such a disorganized battle filled with chaos, the elite unit that Adelbert had created had suddenly become useless.

He was not sure if it was on purpose, but he was suddenly put in an awkward position because of it.

At first, there was nothing noticeable in this battle but chaos all over.

However, these apex experts immediately realized something the longer the battle progressed.

“The opposing side is gaining more advantage,” said Gunner while squinting his eyes.

Lawrence, who was also paying close attention to the battle, also noticed the subtle yet impactful changes that were occurring just now.

“The opposing side seems to have an endless number of troops. On top of that, the number of their army seems to always be twice as large as the one that our side has,” he mumbled subconsciously after realizing the current state of the battle.

Gunner could not help but raise his brows when he heard this from the side, giving the young man a sidelong glance. “Not bad for a greenhorn. You have some good eyes, young man.”

After that, he turned back his attention to the battlefield and continued. “It may be some perks that the opposing necromancer has, or it can also be one of the unique skills that they have for being a ‘Transcendent Being.'”

“But Sir Adelbert has used that Pseudo Tier 4 scroll that comes from that ruin. Isn’t it something that is capable of cloning everything so long as its strength does not exceed Tier 3 or Pseudo Tier 4? Then how can the opposing side summon more undead creatures than us or not run out of mana?” asked Lawrence subconsciously.

Gunner paused and thought for a moment before shaking his head. “That is also something that I am curious about.”
