Chapter 518: Chapter 516:Who decided that?

The silence of the rest of reality was pushed behind me as I took in the appearance of the being before me.

It didn’t look like anything that was. Yet it looked like everything that is.

There was no fixed shape to it. Yet there was a shape to fix it to.

Upon gazing at it, only one thought crossed my mind.

"It is done?"

"Ahh... so it is indeed true. The offspring of devouring has truly awakened. They will be blessed, it would seem my master shall be the one to FINALLY break the chains of infinity, just as it should be, as the only one true being with no end should always be FINALITY, the inevitable end of endings themselves." The thing spoke in the same grandeur fear had, but its voice wasn’t one of an amalgamation of despairing voices, no, its voice was one of perfected assurance. There was not a single ounce of doubt to be found. It was like its words were already a foregone conclusion that reality had already adjusted to.

My expression hardened even further. This... was an apostle. A being embodying the very aspects that made up its master. I had just learned of how my own apostles were, so I was less inclined to take this being lightly.

"Sana." I called out gently as a light flashed by my side, Sana’s figure, still dressed in the gown she’d been wearing at the auction, appeared before me.

The moment she appeared,

"Finally..."

"Master’s tower..."

"We have found her..."

"Blessed be master’s will..."

The four harbingers rejoiced like a bunch of lunatic beings, as Sana’s body trembled violently. Obviously, she was still very much traumatized by the events of back then, the mere thought of going back to the being that had cast her aside, broken and abandoned, not sitting well in any part of her psyche.

"I’ll need you to do something for me, my dear." My voice successfully pulled her from her shaken state as she turned towards me, the only reason she hadn’t retreated into her shell clearly being the fact that she felt some semblance of safety in my presence.

A smile couldn’t help but grace my face as even in this tense moment, with my gaze literally locked onto the apostle of the very manifestation of Finality itself, I found delight in knowing those close to me trusted me enough to, even in their fear, stand still.

"What... what is it?" She asked, her voice shaken.

"I’ll need you to stay here. Stay here and watch as your family turns your nightmare into child’s play. Watch as your family erases any fear of returning to that horror from your mind." I took my gaze from the apostle as the being seemed fine with letting me finish my task, a decision it was bound to regret, but one I’ll appreciate for now.

"I need you to be strong for me, because I wish not to see you tremble for any man," I gave her a smile, "any man other than me of course, when I finally do take you for me." Even in this mood, I couldn’t help teasing the staunch tower spirit.

"Pervert." She gave me a light punch to my shoulder as she visibly relaxed.

"Malachi." The monkey stood alert.

"Shulvan." The crimson-hooded fellow went down on his knee, his aura locking the woman he’d been holding hostage in one place. I had thought of letting Shulvan take this fight with the apostle, just to see what he could do when let go, but no. I needed this fight more. And besides, there were still a lot more chances to come.

"Paku." The already twenty-foot and still-growing raging beast turned his crimson gaze towards me.

"Salazar." The now semi-translucent Chronari paused his creepy hand gestures as he focused his attention on me.

"Leo." The lazy griffon had finally put away his lackadaisical expression as he focused unflinchingly on my next words.

And finally, last but not least, "Xuan." The emperor, having tossed his robe aside, turned towards me, battle intent clear on his face.

"I’m leaving my precious with you guys. I’m leaving her here knowing that when I come back, you would’ve successfully shown her that before our family, traumatic experiences are nothing more than playthings we can erase at our pleasure. I leave her here knowing that when I return, she shall tremble no longer at the mention of another being’s name?" Their faces turned solemn at my words, all traces of games gone.

"Shall I do so in good confidence?"

"Be assured, master, your will has already been done." Shulvan’s reply was quick and without hesitation as the others rallied behind it.

"Good." I smiled, attention returning to Sana, "there you have it, you’re in—"

My words got cut short as she pulled me into another kiss, her lips sealing mine in a deep, passionate embrace as I wrapped my hands around her waist, pulling her close.

Our kiss lasted a few seconds longer before we finally separated.

"Well, I wasn’t expecting that, but I’m not going to complain."

"Humph! I know you’re about to go face another one of those things again, aren’t you?"

"Indeed I am."

"Well, you better make sure you win. And. And don’t let them get into your head again, or make you cry again, or make you worry, or make you want to die. The only person allowed to make you feel any of that type of way is me. Understand? So you better go and show whoever it is who’s boss and come back to let me continue bullying you, alright?" It was the first time I’d seen genuine worry on her face, and my heart couldn’t help but warm up at the gesture.

"Worry not, my dear. I plan on finally showing these things just who the fuck exactly they’re messing with, just wait for me and we’ll pick this up when I get back." I smiled.

"Al.. alright. You better not keep me waiting. If these guys get done before you, then I’m not letting you touch a hair on my body."

"And if I get done before them?"

"Do that and find out for yourself."

Now, was there really any motivation one could get more than that?

The wild grin that split my face as my eyes burned with a feral light made it clear that this apostle was about to experience the fastest, most painful time in its soon-to-be-inexistent existence.

"Wait for me." I gave her a peck before redirecting my gaze upward.

"Finally done with your goodbyes? Or shall I give you a few moments more?"

"No need," I shook my head, "but, shall we take this elsewhere?" I muttered, and before the apostle could begin to understand my words, I pulled upon my connection to nothingness as both our figures vanished from our positions.

"Please, Dante, stay safe..." Sana whispered into the empty reaches of space as she finally turned towards the others who had begun picking out their targets, the battle to purge a lady’s trauma was about to begin, and it promised to be one for the ages.

...

...

"Hmmm? This place is..."

"Nothingness. My father-in-law was generous enough to allow me to use him as a place for putting you fools in your places." My voice cut the words of the apostle short as I appeared a few nothings away from him, Elira standing beside me.

"I see. To think the lord will allow me such an honor. I shall relay his benevolence to master when I deliver your origin to him. He should know who gave me the ambience required to harvest your origin properly, that way he can reward the lord after he breaks the chains of infinity." The apostle glazed over all I said as it came to its own conclusion.

"Hmm.. I see."

"O spawn of devouring, do not resist, for resistance is futile. The outcome has already been decided before the battle even began." It hadn’t even finished speaking when a hand was already reaching deep into my very existence, towards my origins. The apostle had somehow already appeared before me, seemingly already claiming his victory.

"This farce... is DONE." Its tone held a note of absolute finality, but,

"Who decided that?" The mad grin on my face widened as,

"Huh? What... is this?" The apostle’s confused voice resounded within the realm as it found itself missing half the entire body it had dared touched me with.

"Listen, o apostle," the creature raised its head up as it gazed upon my figure, Elira having found her way into my embrace as I grinned madly at the creature below, "you are about to experience the worst instant of your soon-to-be-inexistence, so pay close attention."

Pulling Elira into a kiss, a golden light bathed both our figures as for this fight, I was hell-bent on finally experiencing just what it felt like using the powers of my juvenile self against something that shouldn’t break too easily.

"Let’s see just how inevitable your fate is, shall we?"
