Location: Myriad Cosmos Corridor, Unknown

“No way, there have been Transcendents in my cosmos. There are at least two I know of,” I immediately retorted, thinking of the Ruby Vaults possessed by JJ and Pax Whiteburn. Those things were made using the remains of the Transcendents. That meant there had been Transcendents in the Myriad Realms.

Not to forget, according to the Church of Demigod Michael Angelo, he achieved transcendence and left the Ruby Vault containing all his runes, divinity, and other resources. But considering some records even say he died, it might be the Church exaggerating. But the fact that he had the Ruby Vault meant he had found the remains of a Transcendent to create it.

“What makes you think that those Transcendents were from your cosmos?” BoBo asked, pausing her meal. “Transcendents are beings that transcend their cosmos and ascend to the Myriad Cosmos. To use your own words, they are no longer frogs in the well, the cosmos they belong to, but know and have access to the bigger world out there, the Myriad Cosmos.”

I was both blown away and a little disappointed by BoBo’s words.

I was excited to learn that Transcendents could travel between cosmoses, but disappointed to learn that becoming aware of the Myriad Cosmos and traveling between them was what actually achieving transcendence meant.

Back on Earth, everyone knew about the multiverse, so did that mean all of us were a step toward achieving transcendence? Or was there a difference between believing there was a multiverse out there and knowing there was a multiverse out there?

Noticing the scrutiny in my eyes, BoBo, as if she had read my mind, mocked me. “Multiverse theory? That’s just a fairy-tale version of the actual Myriad Cosmos developed by you humans while believing humans were the center of the cosmos. When, actually, you are not. In most of the cosmoses, humans weren’t even created. The Myriad Cosmos is so much more than a mere mortal mind can comprehend. Otherwise, everyone would have achieved transcendence long ago.

“Besides, you are a World Calamity Tree now. What do you care about achieving Transcendence? You have access to the Myriad Cosmos Corridor, a plane higher than the Myriad Cosmos.”

I strongly disagreed with BoBo’s claim about multiverse ideas being human-centered. If anything, they came from the opposite direction. Besides, my goal wasn’t to win an argument against her but to gain as much information as I could from her.

I immediately released more of my fragrance and created more ripe Calamity Fruits to calm BoBo down and immerse her in the enjoyment of the Calamity Fruits while she answered me.

“If everyone in my Cosmos has no path to transcendence, why are they all not called Barred Beings and just this particular one?” I asked, getting back on track. As much as I loved learning new information, first I wanted to digest the information I had already gained.

Biting into a Calamity Fruit, which dissolved into her body, BoBo replied, “You are thinking of Barred Beings as a title when, actually, it’s a realm of its own. And possibly the highest realm one can achieve in your Cosmos. And there are quite a few who have achieved the Barred Realm in your cosmos.”

“The best way to explain this to you would be to use the Schrödinger’s Cat thought experiment from your memories. But here, the box is the cosmos and the cat is the path to transcendence. A being can only find out if there is a path to transcendence in the cosmos if they are strong enough to search it. That is why only beings who have peeked into the path of transcendence and realized there isn’t one are called Barred Beings.

“Even if someone learns from a Barred Being that there is no transcendence, they don’t become Barred Beings. They can’t bring themselves to give up on transcendence. They believe they are different. That’s because they still can’t be sure whether there is a path to transcendence in the cosmos until they have seen for themselves, and for that they need the required strength to open the box.

“However, if they do give up, it only means they never opened the box and simply left it there. They haven’t seen the truth, as they don’t possess the strength to see it. As such, they are not Barred Beings.”

So, there was a pseudo-realm between Ruler Class and transcendence, the Barred Realm. And if one were to achieve it, they would have no hope of transcendence.

“Why is there no path to transcendence in the cosmos I come from? And why has the Barred Being cursed the Primordial Pixies of my realm? What can he possibly get from enslaving them? Are they connected somehow?” I asked, feeling that it was illogical for the Librarian to take his anger out on Pixies and World Calamity Trees while the rest of the Barred Beings sat back. There had to be a reason why someone like the Librarian would resort to such measures.

“You are correct. The answers to both those questions are connected,” BoBo nodded, biting into two Calamity Fruits at the same time.

Making me wonder if she was sure she, too, wasn’t cursed or something, because her actions were very much beginning to resemble DreDre’s and MayMay’s.

Is she alright?

Ah, fuck it. I have already ruined two Pixies, and what’s a third one, as long as I get the information I seek?

BoBo ate another Calamity Fruit as if she wouldn’t get a chance to again before continuing, “The reason your cosmos doesn’t have a path to transcendence is that it’s completely derived from primordial energy… How do I explain it so you can understand it more clearly? Umm… It’s like inbreeding. When your cosmos was still under making, only primordial energy was used, which then derived into the various energies you know that went on to create the cosmos you know. One needs more than primordial energy to achieve transcendence. And the Barred Being enslaving Primordial Pixies in your Cosmos believes Primordial Pixies can provide them with the other energies needed to achieve transcendence.”
