CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows
CHAPTER 270: THE DAWN OF THE SOVEREIGN SEAT
The final granite capstone fell into place with a hollow, resounding thud that echoed across the central plateau. Where once stood a barren red wasteland now rose a colossal, double-ringed citadel, a fortress city forged from black basalt, granite, and ancient runic stone, centered around a main pyramid and nine outer node pyramids arranged in a precise nine-pointed star formation.
Standing at the apex of the central pyramid beside the dark pool, Caius raised his right hand.
"Initiate the core nodes," his voice drifted down, carried by spatial threads to every corner of the inner ring.
Deep within the subterranean chambers beneath eight of the nine node pyramids, the fundamental defense arrays lay waiting. Caius extended his hands, drawing eight massive, carriage-sized Behemoth cores from his spatial storage. Each core had been stripped of its calcified Nerathil rot by the Sun Calamity Forge, transformed into a crystalline, pure white engine of primordial light.
One by one, Caius guided the eight cores into the central altars of the first eight pyramids, locking them into the city’s defense matrix.
When he reached the ninth pyramid, his hand hovered over the empty altar. His spatial storage was bare, he had run out of purified Behemoth cores.
Without a second thought, Caius placed a hand against his own chest. His Solar-Obsidian Origin Core rotated violently, casting golden and pitch-black light through his ribcage. Reaching into his crown core, he condensed a dense, hyper-compressed shard of his own dual energy, forging a pristine, dual-mana crystal that burned with white solar fire and dark spatial void.
He drove the crafted crystal into the ninth pyramid’s node.
The moment the final core locked into place, invisible threads of dual energy erupted from the central pyramid, shooting across the paved plazas to bind all nine node pyramids into a single, living circuit.
Then, seven sudden shockwaves shattered the quiet above the citadel.
Up onto the summits of their respective carved pyramids, Caius's seven bound summons materialized:
Atop the first pyramid, the Arachne Princess uncurled her eight chitinous legs, launching webs of solar silk and spatial binding threads into the sky.
Atop the second, the Black Flame Demon threw back its horned head, roaring as a column of infernal darkness laced with white-hot solar heat surged from its chest.

Atop the third, the Black Sabre-Lightning Tiger pounced onto its pedestal, its fur bristling as violet lightning crowned with white kinetic plasma arced across the battlements.
Atop the fourth, the Shadow Knight slammed its massive greatsword into the stone, unleashing a kinetic defensive wave reinforced by golden solar preservation.
Atop the fifth, the Obsidian Archangel spread its four feathered wings, blinding the plazas with lunar celestial light elevated by solar authority.
Atop the sixth, the Shadow Wolf let out a bloodcurdling howl, spreading a celestial shadow domain that merged seamlessly with pure solar light.
Atop the seventh, the Eclipsed Tri-Ocular Sovereign spread its dark wings, flaring three multi-pupiled eyes as void perception and necrotic-eclipse energy flooded the air.
Caius stepped to the edge of the central pyramid and raised both arms to the sky, venting his dual-origin mana into the upper atmosphere.
The bruised, crimson sky of Æthrynn parted. High above the plateau, a colossal cosmic visage materialized, the Tri-Pupil Eye of the Void, framed by six massive, razor-sharp blade wings, burning with the radiance of a reborn eclipse. Vast, incandescent threads of fate rained down from the cosmic manifestation, weaving through the clouds before locking into the nine pyramid nodes.
From the nine nodes, a sweeping dome of golden light, thin, mist-like, and humming with spatial force, expanded across the heavens. It locked over the double-ringed walls, completely shielding the citadel from the toxic red winds and harsh light of the realm outside.
Below, in the vast staging grounds and avenues, over two hundred thousand laborers, legionnaires, warrior societies, and native citizens looked up into the light.
The sight of the seven summons flaring their legendary powers, capped by the divine visage hovering above the mist barrier, struck the population straight to their souls. The entire valley erupted into a deafening, fanatical roar that shook the black basalt roads. Hundreds of thousands dropped to their knees in the dust, weeping, chanting, and slamming their fists against the stone in absolute, unquestioning worship of the God-King.
With a single act of activation, Caius had permanently solidified his godhood across the Red Realm.
Caius slowly lowered his hands, watching the golden mist barrier settle into a calm, self-sustaining veil over his new city. The fanatical chants of his army echoed up the stone steps of the main pyramid, loud enough to rattle the dark pool beside him.
He turned toward the shadow of the inner stairwell, where Old Bones stood waiting with his hands tucked into his sleeves, his dark elf eyes wide with quiet awe beneath his usual composed mask.
Caius brushed a speck of dust from his sleeve, a faint, dry smirk touching the corner of his lips.
"Just theatrics, Old Bones..." Caius muttered softly.
In his twenty-eighth year, having survived six conquered realms and uncounted cosmic trials, he had officially founded the sovereign seat of his empire. Exactly one full year of monumental construction, carved by Arachne silk, raised by titan muscle, and anchored by divine stone, had turned a rot-infested wasteland into an unassailable Forward Sovereign Fortress.
Without waiting for a reply, the God-King turned his back on the roaring crowds and walked steadily down into the quiet depth of his inner hall.
