CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows
CHAPTER 184: THE LEDGER OF BLOOD AND GOLD
Deep in the central vault of the Black Granite Citadel, beneath the flickering violet glow of suspended mana crystals, Old Bones stood before a massive stone table strewn with thousands of glittering, unsealed spatial storage bags and velvet purses.
Surrounding the table, fifty dark elf scribes worked silently, their quills scratching furiously against thick parchment scrolls. Behind them, hundreds of Arachne worker drones scuttled back and forth, hauling heavy wooden crates and sorting the staggering wealth stripped from the eighty thousand humans and ten thousand high elves slaughtered on the steppe.
Caius stepped down the stone stairs into the vault, his mantle sweeping against the damp floor. Behind him, the four-foot ivory tusks of the Black Sabre-Lightning Tiger crackled with quiet static, its presence casting long, jagged shadows against the cavern wall.
"Report," Caius commanded softly, his violet eyes sweeping across the mountain of treasures.
Old Bones bowed his scarred head, lifting a heavy leather-bound ledger. A cold, victorious sneer played across his withered lips.
"Sovereign," Old Bones rasped, his voice echoing in the vast chamber. "The weaversmith and our scribes have finished cataloging the field spoils. The Solarian host did not march to fight a quick border skirmish; King Alden and High Lord Lorien brought enough resources to establish a permanent occupying province. All of it now belongs to the Citadel."
Old Bones opened the ledger, running his claw-like finger down the first column.
Raw Wealth & Mana
Solarian Gold Sovereigns: Four million two hundred thousand pure gold coins, gathered from the high elven payroll chests and human noble ranks.
Refined Mana Crystals: Eighteen thousand high-density wind and earth crystals, alongside three thousand five hundred radiant solar-affinity cores recovered from the Solarian war-mages.
Enchanted Spatial Bags: One thousand two hundred and forty spatial pouches and rings, ranging from low-grade merchant bags to royal high elven spatial vaults.

Old Bones flipped the heavy parchment page, his eyes gleaming as he read the next section aloud.
Arms, Armor & Equipment
Mithril & Solarian Steel Plate: Four hundred and fifty complete suits of Sun-Gilded Sentinel armor and thirty-two thousand human heavy infantry plate sets. The weaversmith has already begun melting down the damaged pieces to reinforce our Arachne legion's chitin scale armor.
High-Tier Weapons: Twelve thousand enchanted broadswords, six thousand composite recurve bows strung with manticore sinew, and four hundred and fifty spell-caster staves crafted from white-wood and embedded with high-rank mana stones.
Siege Logistics: One hundred and twenty heavy supply wagons loaded with fire-resistant rations, alchemical healing salves, and enchanted barrier scrolls.
Old Bones paused, stepping around the main table to point toward a small, isolated stone pedestal covered in a black silk cloth.
"And finally, Sovereign... the personal spatial vault of High Lord Lorien himself."
Caius stepped up to the pedestal, raising his hand. With a subtle flick of his fingers, his dark mana tore through the lingering, dead blood-locks on the High Lord's personal spatial ring.
The black silk cloth blew back as three distinct items materialized upon the stone pedestal:
The Sun-Shatter Grimoire: An ancient high elven spell tome containing the complete, unredacted chants for seven high-tier solar domain spells, including the forbidden ritual used to force a divine portal to the upper realms.
A Bottle of Liquid Solar Marrow: A sealed crystal vial containing a golden, luminescent fluid, the rare, concentrated elixir extracted from ancient Solarian World-Trees, capable of rapidly healing shattered meridians or accelerating core refinement.
The Royal Seal of Mount Eldoria: A heavy, star-shaped emblem forged from pure ori-elemental gold, granting absolute diplomatic authority over the eastern passes and military outposts of the High Elven realm.
Caius picked up the crystal vial of Liquid Solar Marrow, feeling its dense, warm energy pulse through his fingers. A cold, victor's smile spread across his face.
"Distribute the iron and steel to the weaversmith's fabrication chambers," Caius ordered, his voice unyielding. "Feed the lower-grade mana crystals directly into the Citadel's subterranean array. Store the gold, the grimoire, and the royal seal in my private inner vault."
"At once, Sovereign," Old Bones bowed low. "With these resources, the Citadel can sustain a multi-year campaign without relying on Underdark trade routes."
Caius turned back toward the stairs, looking out over the endless crates of wealth that had once belonged to the proudest kingdom on the continent. Mount Eldoria had sent an army to crush him, but in their failure, they had funded his empire.
