CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows
CHAPTER 185: THE SOVEREIGN'S ECLIPSE
The vast mind sea rippled with dark, golden reflections as Caius stood at the center of the basalt courtyard island. Inside his chest, the newly birthed hybrid core spun with effortless fluidity, a twin-vortex of pitch-black obsidian mana and radiant solar fire locked in complete, harmonious alignment.
Where once his inner domain was submerged in stagnant, pitch-black dark energy, the entire mind sea had fundamentally transformed. The vast dark ocean now shimmered with threads of pure, incandescent solar mana woven directly into the abyss, illuminating the dark waters with a magnificent, twilight radiance. Above him, the central Crown Core, once an orb of absolute void, now pulsed as a dual-colored star, radiating a pristine, balanced power that nourished every corner of his soul space.
Every entity bound to his soul felt the profound evolution. Across the Court Circle, the five summons absorbed the newly enriched ambient energy, their bodies humming as their own spiritual foundations were passively elevated and strengthened by their master's ascension.
Caius looked down at his open palm. Resting atop his skin was an unexpected anomaly, a tiny, crystalline seed that glowed with a soft, dual-colored radiance of obsidian black and molten gold. It was a unique byproduct of the Calamity Forge, condensed from the purified residual essences when he smelted the foreign cores and the Liquid Solar Marrow together.
Recognizing the dense vitality contained within it, Caius walked to the edge of the central island, knelt beside the ancient Mind Sea Temple, and pressed the seed deep into the fertile, mana-rich soil.
The moment the seed touched the earth, it took root, absorbing the passive solar-dark mana of his mind sea and sending a faint, promising pulse through the courtyard floor.
Caius stood up, turning back toward the courtyard where his court waited.
Before him stood the five court entities of the outer nodes. The Black Flame Demon flexed its magma-veined claws; the Black Sabre-Lightning Tiger growled softly, kinetic sparks dancing along its violet fur; the Arachne Princess hovered with six chitinous arms poised; the nine-foot Shadow Knight braced behind its crimson-etched tower shield; and the newly manifested Obsidian Archangel flared its six blade-wings, the dark plasma broadsword in its right hand humming with spatial frequency.
Caius raised his eyes, his pupils glowing with a surreal, dual-colored light, one half a deep, abyss-like violet, the other a sharp, incandescent gold.
"All of you," Caius commanded softly, his voice echoing across the boundless mind sea. "Attack me at once. Show me what this core can bear."
The mental link snapped taut. The five entities showed no hesitation, launching forward in a synchronized, lethal assault that tore through the ambient dark mist.
The Black Sabre-Lightning Tiger struck first, transforming into a blinding streak of violet electricity aimed squarely at Caius’s flank. Simultaneously, the Black Flame Demon dropped from above with a doubled-fist hammer strike wrapped in roaring dark fire, while the Arachne Princess phase-shifted through space, her corrosive shadow-blades sweeping toward his throat. From the front, the Shadow Knight charged like an unstoppable siege tower, its war mace swinging in a devastating horizontal arc, while the Obsidian Archangel released a rain of fifty razor-sharp obsidian blade-feathers infused with high-frequency plasma.

An inescapable cage of annihilation closed in on Caius from every angle.
Caius did not trigger Shadow Steps. He did not dodge.
Instead, he drew upon his central core, tapping into both rivers of energy simultaneously. The Loomheart Method accelerated his pathways to extreme thresholds, directing the dense obsidian mana to coat his skeletal frame like black steel, while the golden solar marrow ignited along his skin in a blinding, radiant shroud.
"Dual Attribute: Eclipse Shield," Caius whispered.
BOOM!
A monumental, spherical barrier erupted from Caius’s body. The inner layer was forged from absolute, light-absorbing obsidian dark-matter, while the outer layer burned with a white-hot, solar corona.
The five simultaneous strikes detonated against the barrier at once.
The Tiger’s lightning grounded out against the obsidian inner layer, completely neutralized by its kinetic absorption. The Demon’s dark fire was swallowed whole by the solar outer layer, its thermal energy harvested and converted directly back into Caius’s internal reserves. The Arachne Princess’s spatial blades glanced off the dense barrier, unable to pierce the dual-layered space, while the Shadow Knight’s massive mace impact merely caused the golden corona to flare with violent, retaliatory shockwaves.
VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
The Obsidian Archangel’s fifty blade-feathers slammed into the barrier, but rather than shattering the defense, the dual-attribute mana caught the feathers in mid-air, suspending them in a swirling, black-gold gravitational field.
Standing unscathed at the center of the roaring explosion, Caius raised his right hand. He didn't draw his dual short-blades; he simply closed his fist, channeling the hybrid core into a single, concentrated point above his palm.
A ball of compressed energy materialized, a miniature black hole surrounded by a blazing ring of pure solar fire.
"Eclipse Detonation," Caius murmured, throwing his hand outward.
The dual sphere expanded in a microsecond, releasing a radial shockwave of combined dark kinetic force and white-hot solar plasma. The kinetic blast tore through the courtyard, slamming into all five court entities simultaneously. The Black Flame Demon was hurled fifty yards back across the basalt floor; the Sabre Tiger was tossed into a mid-air roll; the Arachne Princess was forced to weave spatial webs to anchor herself; and even the heavy nine-foot Shadow Knight was driven back ten paces, its tower shield digging deep grooves into the stone.
The Obsidian Archangel caught the brunt of the golden-black blast, its six blade-wings snapping forward to form a defensive wall. The dark plasma washed over its obsidian plate, leaving no damage, but forcing the divine construct onto one knee from the sheer kinetic weight.
Silence settled over the inner domain as the swirling black-gold vapor slowly cleared.
Caius stood at the center of the court, exhaling a calm, steady breath. His meridians didn't ache; his pathways didn't burn. The wideness of his internal channels allowed the dual-attribute mana to cycle with absolute zero resistance, yielding three times the output of his former obsidian core with half the cast time.
The five court entities straightened up, lowering their weapons and bowing their heads in complete, reverent awe before their Sovereign.
Caius looked at his open palm, watching a tiny, perfectly balanced orb of light and shadow swirl atop his skin before fading into his veins. A cold, victor's smile touched his lips.
With his meridians tempered, his mind sea expanded, and his hybrid core awakened, the Black Granite Citadel was no longer merely a fortress built to withstand threats. It was ready to conquer.
