Building a Perfect Territory in the Mist
Chapter 87 - 72: The Upstanding Lord Shen
Chapter 87: Chapter 72: The Upstanding Lord Shen
"Attack! Raze this territory to the ground!"
Gideon gave a sharp wave of his hand, and the dozen or so villagers behind him took a step forward in unison.
However, these villagers didn’t attack immediately. Instead, they picked up several head-sized boulders from the ground.
Then they hurled them forward with all their might.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The boulders rolled across the ground, plowing deep furrows into the earth.
Hidden traps were triggered one after another, quickly clearing a safe path to the city wall.
Burned once, twice shy. Gideon had suffered a great loss last time, and he wasn’t about to fall for the same trick again.
"Heh heh, let’s see how you stop my legion this time."
Gideon’s smile widened as he commanded, "Go! Flatten the entire territory."
As soon as he spoke, a ferocious light flashed in the eyes of the dozen or so villagers. Their upper bodies began to expand rapidly.
Gray fur sprouted, their swelling muscles instantly burst their clothes, and their human heads transformed into those of wolves.
In the blink of an eye, a group of creatures appeared—their upper bodies were that of gray wolves, but their lower bodies still retained human legs.
They let out a roar and charged the wall in unison.
Just as this group of Half-Werewolves was halfway through their sprint, about fifty meters from the territory, extremely thin iron wires suddenly sprang up from the ground!
TWANG!
The wires instantly pulled taut, flashing with a cold, metallic glint.
The Half-Werewolves’ pupils contracted, but it was already too late to dodge.
SLICE! SLICE! SLICE!
The sound of slicing flesh rang out. Accompanied by searing pain, the dozen or so Half-Werewolves lost their balance and tumbled to the ground in a heap.
The ones at the very front, moving too fast, even had their legs sliced clean off by the wires on the spot.
They now lay writhing in agony on the ground, letting out heart-rending screams.
Watching the scene unfold, the smile on Gideon’s face vanished, replaced by an ashen fury. "You despicable bastard! Are these the only tricks you know?"
"If you have any guts, come out and face me fair and square!"
Shen Xing watched him calmly and said slowly, "Idiot."
Gideon’s face turned red with anger, but he forced himself to calm down.
He took a deep breath and stared at him coldly. "You think you can stop me with these petty tricks?"
"In the face of true power, all resistance is futile!"
"All of you, transform! Tear him to pieces!"
As soon as he spoke, the remaining dozens of villagers let out low, guttural snarls.
They dropped to all fours as gray fur erupted from their pores, their bodies rapidly elongating and changing.
In the blink of an eye, dozens of slender gray wolves, four to five meters long, stood in their place.
"AWOOOO!"
With a mournful howl, the pack of gray wolves launched a second wave of attacks, moving like lightning.
The fully transformed Werewolves’ movement speed had skyrocketed, and they had become extremely agile.
They easily leaped over and dodged the Tripwires stretched across the ground, which had no effect on them at all.
It looked as though the Werewolves were about to break through the defensive line and clash with the Beastman Legion head-on.
Suddenly, several of the iron wires pulled taut and rapidly crisscrossed in the air, forming a net of wire.
Immediately after, the crisp sound of hooves echoed from both sides, pulling the wires along as they closed in on the Werewolves.
When Gideon saw this, he instantly realized something, and his pupils contracted.
"Fall back!" he shouted with every ounce of strength he had.
But it was clearly too late.
The enclosing net, formed from seven or eight iron wires, closed in fast, slicing viciously through the werewolf army.
SLICE! SLICE!
A series of flesh-slicing sounds rang out.
A large number of Werewolves failed to dodge in time. The sharp wires sliced through their skin and tore into their flesh, bringing their charge to a sudden halt.
A few unlucky ones were even moving so fast that their necks had an intimate encounter with the wires, sending several wolf heads flying through the air.
In an instant, a few more headless Werewolf corpses lay on the ground.
The remaining Werewolves saw the wires approaching and, as if seeing the plague itself, turned and fled for their lives.
They were terrified that being a step too slow would mean suffering the same fate as the others.
At the same time, tall figures emerged from both ends of the Fog.
Eight Black Moon Knights, split into pairs, each had an iron wire wrapped around their wrists.
This was an idea Shen Xing had come up with on the fly, combining the Effect of the Tripwires.
He was using the high mobility of these Knights, combined with the sharpness of the wires, to create a mobile trap that could cover most of the battlefield.
So far, the effect was excellent.
Gideon’s Werewolf Legion was forced back again. They all stood at the Firelight Edge, not daring to take another step closer, their eyes still filled with extreme fear.
Shen Xing looked across at them, a smile tugging at his lips. "Your Werewolf Legion doesn’t seem to be doing so well. They haven’t even touched the hem of my Beastmen’s clothes yet."
"Damn it! Damn it all!"
Gideon was about to go mad with rage, his bloodshot eyes glaring at Shen Xing.
His gaze swept grimly across the surroundings, as if looking for another breakthrough point.
But looking at the ground littered with wolf corpses and a pile of triggered traps, he gave up.
’Who the hell knows how many more traps this guy has buried around his territory!’
"Hmph. A futile struggle."
Gideon said in an icy voice, "Warwick, go show these ants what true power is."
"As you command, my master!"
Following the deep voice, a tall, thin figure emerged from behind Gideon.
He wore simple burlap clothes and had messy, long brown hair, looking no different from an ordinary person.
But he exuded an aura completely different from the other Werewolves.
Dangerous, primal, and bloodthirsty!
The tall, thin man looked up, his gaze fixing on Shen Xing in his wheelchair in the distance, a bloodthirsty glint flashing in his eyes.
The next second, he abruptly vanished from his spot.
In an instant, he had charged to a position less than fifty meters from the Beastman Legion.
His explosive burst of speed far exceeded what the naked eye could track.
At the same time, the Black Moon Knight Order once again pulled their wires taut, closing in on the tall, thin figure in an encircling maneuver.
Just as they were about to make contact, the figure suddenly spread his hands, which rapidly transformed into enormous wolf claws and swept forward.
SWOOSH!!
The incredibly tough iron wires were sliced by the wolf claws as if they were rope being cut by a blade, and were instantly severed.
The Knights, losing their balance, fell into a moment of disarray.
Shen Xing’s brow furrowed. He also realized that this Werewolf under Gideon’s command was no simple foe.
’He’s probably already broken through to Tier Two. A true Extraordinary Level expert!’
At this moment, the ferocious light in the tall, thin figure’s eyes intensified, and a bloodthirsty smirk curved his lips.
He then accelerated again, pouncing toward them like a phantom!
His target was none other than Shen Xing, who was behind the Beastman Legion.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
The two Arrow Towers at the South City Gate automatically fired arrows, but he dodged them with ease, the projectiles not even grazing his clothes.
One could only imagine how fast this guy was.
"Who dares harm my boss!"
Just as the figure was about to close in, Dahou roared and charged out, brandishing his Dual Axes.
As an Elite Three-Star creature, Dahou had also undergone Shen Xing’s Sacrificial Evolution several times. His Agility Attribute was far superior to others of the same tier.
He rapidly closed in on the enemy, raised his Dual Axes, and brought them down with terrifying power.
But just as Dahou’s attack was about to hit its mark, the Werewolf sidestepped on the spot, calmly dodging the blow.
Immediately after, he raised his right claw high, a dangerous light gathering at its tips.
SWISH!
Several dazzling flashes of cold light tore three claw marks, each over ten meters long, into the ground before him.
Dahou’s entire body stiffened as three glaring, bloody gashes appeared on his body.
"Pfft!"
Blood spurted out, and the Dual-Axe Orc collapsed, severely wounded.
Watching from the rear, Shen Xing was secretly stunned.
Dahou was strong enough to take on a Boss-level opponent single-handedly, yet he had been taken down in a single exchange.
An Extraordinary Level expert completely crushed an Apprentice Level one in every aspect—speed, power, and reaction time.
"Heh heh, did you see that?"
A victorious smile played on Gideon’s lips. "You have no idea how vast the gap is between Tier One and Tier Two. All your little tricks are useless in the face of absolute power."
"Warwick, kill him."
Hearing the command, the tall, thin man raised his right claw again, preparing to end Dahou’s life for good.
But just then, a large net fell from the sky, swooping down on him.
The tall, thin man’s expression flickered, and he instantly swiped his right claw upward.
SWISH!
A cold light flashed, tearing the net in the air to shreds.
Before he could react, he saw a figure wreathed in blood-red flames, riding a Warg, charging out like a runaway train!
It was Blood Roar, who had activated Wolf Charge and Burning Blood.
The distance between them closed rapidly.
Blood Roar held his long-handled axe at an angle and thrust it upward in a fierce attack.
CLANG!
The long-handled axe and the Werewolf’s sharp claws collided in an instant, unleashing several gusts of violent wind.
The next second, Blood Roar was thrown back by the immense force, almost falling off the Warg’s back.
The Werewolf opposite him also took three steps back, a look of surprise in his eyes.
He could sense that this Beastman was only Tier One, yet he could withstand his attack head-on. It was truly unbelievable.
Gideon, standing to the side, seemed to realize something and exclaimed in shock, "A Boss... you’ve actually managed to cultivate a Boss Level Soldier Type!"
It was common knowledge that for a new Lord, the difficulty of cultivating a Boss Level Soldier Type in the early stages was beyond imagination.
Even this Werewolf under Gideon’s command, who had already broken through to the Tier Two Extraordinary Level, only had the Potential of an Elite Three-Star.
A few days ago, he had also spent a fortune to buy a Boss Level Soul, preparing to raise this Werewolf’s Potential.
But obviously, he had failed.
After all, the probability of an Elite breaking through to Boss was less than sixty percent.
Moreover, some Soldier Types have a cap on their Potential; the closer they get to that cap, the lower the chance of a breakthrough.
"So what if you have a Boss Level Soldier Type?"
Gideon quickly recovered from his shock and said coldly, "Warwick, let them see what true Extraordinary power is!"
A ferocious light flashed in the tall, thin man’s eyes. "As you command, my master."
The next moment, he dropped to all fours, his body twisting and contorting violently.
In the blink of an eye, he transformed into a ferocious wolf, seven to eight meters long with thick, powerful limbs.
Not only that, but a mass of cyan-colored airflow began to rise from its claws, exuding a dangerous aura.
