Building a Perfect Territory in the Mist
Chapter 86 - 71: Taking Stock of Forces, the Lord Attacks
Chapter 86: Chapter 71: Taking Stock of Forces, the Lord Attacks
Shen Xing chuckled, apparently satisfied with his answer.
"Very good."
He took the Beastman Totem from his backpack and tossed it over. "Catch this. Let’s see how far you can go."
Hellish Roar felt the Power contained within it and shuddered, his eyes filled with disbelief.
Shen Xing said calmly, "Begin your breakthrough."
"Yes, Lord!"
Hellish Roar took a deep breath, clutched the item, and turned to walk toward a large boulder.
Breaking through from Tier One to Tier Two, unlike advancing in Potential, required absorbing the Power contained within the material.
Then, he would have to integrate its Energy into his body to shatter the bottleneck in a single attempt.
This would take some time.
Of course, it also required sufficient Talent.
Some Soldier Types with poor Talent wouldn’t necessarily be able to advance to Tier Two, even if you used resources to force them all the way to Level 9 and then gave them the breakthrough materials.
Shen Xing watched Blood Roar, who had already broken through to the Boss level, and Hellish Roar, who was in the process of breaking through to Tier Two nearby, and felt a sense of satisfaction.
’I’m finally going to have my first Extraordinary Level soldier!’
’I should use this time to take stock of my territory’s total forces.’
Shen Xing looked around and quickly came up with the specific numbers.
The territory currently had 35 Beastman Infantry. This included two One-Star Bosses and one Elite Three-Star, with the rest ranging from Ordinary Two-Star to Ordinary Three-Star.
There were a total of 17 Skeleton Archers, including one Elite Three-Star. The rest ranged from Ordinary Two-Star to Ordinary Three-Star.
The Inferior Demon Legion consisted of 11 members, all with Elite Potential or higher. Two were Three-Star, and one was Two-Star.
Finally, there were the 16 Black Moon Knights recruited yesterday, all of whom also had Elite Level Potential. This included Hei, who wielded the [Demon Shadow Sword] and had reached Elite Three-Star.
Counting their mounts, the total number of combat units in the territory had broken one hundred.
’If I send out all one hundred of them, and add the Uplifting Drum, I should be able to take down an Extraordinary Level expert, right?’
Shen Xing considered this. He had never fought an Extraordinary Level being before, so he had no idea just how powerful they were.
But it didn’t matter. He was about to have an Extraordinary Level soldier of his own anyway. He would find out then.
At the same time, Dahou strode toward Shen Xing.
"Report, boss! We’re almost out of Food in the warehouse!"
"A lot of the brothers were injured yesterday and ate a lot of Food. We even caught and ate a few rats from the granary!"
Hearing this, Shen Xing glanced at the territory’s resource interface.
He saw that only a little over three hundred units of Food remained.
Hellish Roar had already said that the territory’s Food supply was about to hit rock bottom.
With so many new people added in the past few days, plus the consumption from a major battle, the remaining Food reserves would only last for two more days.
"I understand. Let the injured brothers eat their fill first. I’ll figure something out for the Food," Shen Xing instructed.
"As you command, merciful boss!"
Dahou turned around with a grateful expression and went to distribute Food to the injured Beastmen.
’It’s about time. Once Hellish Roar successfully breaks through, I’ll go take the Silver Holy Land.’
Just as Shen Xing was about to contact Xia Wanyin and begin the operation...
He suddenly saw red dots flashing continuously on his minimap.
In an area about a kilometer from the territory, an eye lit up quickly, then dimmed again.
’Is that... Did the Eye of True Sight find a target?’
’And it only lit up for a moment before going out so quickly. Could it be...’
Shen Xing’s heart tensed.
During this time, the Eyes of True Sight he had placed near his territory had discovered many targets, but most were wandering monsters, wild beasts, and the like.
But a situation like today’s had never occurred.
’An Eye of True Sight going out means it was discovered and destroyed by the target.’
’It seems this enemy is no simple foe.’
Shen Xing leaned back in his wheelchair, his gaze gradually turning cold.
...
...
「Deep within the churning Fog.」
A team of several dozen people advanced steadily, guided by the orange glow of a fire.
"Gideon, that eye just now..." the red-haired woman suddenly spoke, her deep voice echoing in the thick fog.
"Oh... you mean that thing?"
The brown-haired Western man at the front turned his head, his tone careless. "That’s called an Eye of True Sight. The guy in the wheelchair must have placed it in advance."
"He’s quite alert, but it’s useless. He’s a dead man this time."
The red-haired woman looked up, her brow furrowed slightly. "Gideon, why must we go against him?"
"The man has lost both his legs. He’s pitiful enough as it is."
Gideon was silent for a moment, then looked at her coldly. "Reina, do you know why I let Warwick advance to Extraordinary, but didn’t give the opportunity to you?"
"Your strength is clearly greater than his, and your Talent far surpasses his."
The red-haired woman didn’t answer, merely watching him in silence.
"Because you’re too indecisive."
Gideon sneered. "Originally, if you had just submitted to me, I would have invested massive resources in you to fully unlock your Potential."
"With my abilities, I could have even led you back to the Royal City one day to take back everything that belongs to you."
"But you just refuse to cooperate. It’s utterly foolish."
The red-haired woman replied with a calm expression, "You saved me when I was in peril, so I should obey all your commands."
"I also long to return to the kingdom and finish off those enemies with my own hands."
"But I will not do things that go against my conscience just for the sake of Power."
"If you think I’m foolish and disobedient, you can banish me from your territory."
"I’ve done a lot for you during this time. Consider it repayment for taking me in."
Gideon’s mouth twitched. Looking at her determined gaze, he knew he couldn’t persuade this woman.
He had already experienced the same scene several times recently, but it always ended in failure.
If it were an ordinary Soldier Type or a recruited creature, Gideon would have banished them from his territory long ago.
But this woman’s identity was somewhat special, and she was powerful. He was reluctant to let her go.
"Lord, we’re almost there."
A low voice sounded, pulling Gideon back from his thoughts.
Looking up, a territory illuminated by firelight appeared within the churning Fog before them.
Tall stone walls encircled the entire territory.
Over a dozen Arrow Towers stood tall, their firing ports at the top gathering a dangerous light.
Gideon’s pupils contracted. Compared to the last time he was here, the entire territory had undergone a world-shaking transformation.
"In just a few days... how did this guy manage it?"
Gideon muttered to himself, a look of shock on his face. "This scale... it’s not even inferior to my own territory."
Before he could snap out of it, the searchlights from four watchtowers simultaneously swung over, locking onto their figures.
Only then did Gideon see that a group of figures had already appeared in the open ground below the city walls.
A red-skinned Beastman on a Warg led several dozen Beastmen in neat formation, their fighting spirit boiling.
Behind this group of Beastmen, a handsome young man sat in a wheelchair.
"So he was already waiting for us?"
Gideon wasn’t surprised. From the moment the Eye of True Sight had spotted them, he knew he’d been exposed.
"Heh, does he think he can stop me with this bunch of Beastmen and a few Arrow Towers?" he sneered.
Shen Xing raised his head, his gaze locking onto the brown-haired young man in the crowd.
This was, in fact, the first time he had seen the guy who had attacked his territory.
He had a pointy mouth and sunken cheeks, with his features all squashed together and a sinister look in his eyes. No wonder Dahou and the others called him a yellow-haired rat.
"Surrender quietly. If you don’t resist, you’ll suffer less."
Gideon licked his lips, a sick smile appearing on his face. "Otherwise... I’ll give you a taste of hell."
The corner of Shen Xing’s mouth curled up slightly. He raised his right hand and beckoned to him. "Why don’t you try getting to me first?"
Gideon’s expression stiffened, then returned to a cold look. "Since you’re courting death, I’ll be happy to oblige."
"Attack!"
He waved his hand fiercely, and the dozen or so villagers behind him stepped forward in unison.
