Chapter 123: Chapter 95: Greenskin Tide, Leveling the Divine Hall
「A dozen or so minutes later.」
Hundreds of meters in the air, a shadow spread its giant wings and hovered steadily.
An orange-yellow glow dispersed the surrounding Fog as gray raindrops pattered dully against its wings.
Shen Xing, sitting on Fried Chicken’s back, glanced at his mini-map and saw that he was only a few hundred meters from the Divine Hall.
The straight-line distance from his territory to the Divine Hall was about ten kilometers.
Before, with his own mobility, it might have taken him several hours to get here.
But now, with a highly mobile pet like Fried Chicken, he had reached his destination in just over ten minutes.
However, the Beastman troops led by Hellish Roar hadn’t arrived yet, so Shen Xing certainly wasn’t going to risk going in alone.
He took a Monocular Telescope from his bag, extended the brass tube, and looked through it.
Through the thick, gray fog, a grayish-white Divine Hall appeared intermittently in the curtain of rain.
Broken stone pillars were scattered around the Divine Hall, and its grayish-white stone bricks were covered in the marks of time.
A group of fanatics in gray robes, their faces withered and gaunt, were prostrated on the ground, praying ceaselessly to the Divine Hall.
From deep within the structure, a peculiar halo of light faintly shone, pushing back the dense Fog around it.
[You have discovered a special area: Natural Divine Hall...]
...
"A Natural Divine Hall, huh?"
Shen Xing retracted his gaze and said thoughtfully, "There are quite a lot of monsters inside."
"Their Levels are between 5 and 9, and their Potential is only Ordinary One-Star to Ordinary Three-Star."
"Although there are a few Elite Monsters among them, it shouldn’t be a big problem."
"But... I wonder if killing these fanatics will award ranking points like killing those Lost Ones did?"
He quickly made a mental calculation. ’If I can, then clearing out all the monsters in this Divine Hall should net me at least two or three hundred points.’
After waiting for about half an hour, the Beastman Legion, led by Hellish Roar and Blood Roar, finally arrived.
Without a word, Shen Xing gave a grand wave of his hand, and the hundreds of Beastmen immediately charged forward, surging toward the group of fanatics like a burst dam.
From his high-altitude perspective, the sight of so many Beastmen attacking at once truly had the feel of a greenskin tide.
The Skeleton Archers followed close behind, drawing their bone bows taut and loosing a rain of arrows.
Seeing the enemy, the fanatics who had been kneeling on the ground immediately stood up and surged forward to meet the Beastman army.
"Filthy invaders, how dare you desecrate the great Natural Divine Hall!"
"Kill them!"
Venomous voices echoed in the air.
Pitch-black vines erupted from the fanatics’ palms or mouths, sweeping forward like a pack of pythons!
The front rank of Beastmen was instantly ensnared by the vines, unable to move.
But just then, a blast of scorching air erupted from behind the Beastman Legion.
Immediately after, two ghastly-green Flaming Tornados howled onto the battlefield, advancing in a crisscrossing X-pattern.
Wherever they passed, the twisted vines were instantly burned to ash, and scores of fanatics were swept into the Flaming Tornados, their screams turning them into charred husks.
"Kill!"
With a beat of his wings, Hellish Roar charged out of the sea of fire, wielding his Black Water Axe like a Demon God.
The great axe swept out, slicing four or five fanatics in half at the waist, splattering scorched-black blood everywhere.
The surrounding enemies immediately released a mass of vines that wrapped tightly around Hellish Roar’s limbs and body.
But with a single, powerful flex, he yanked the vines—along with the fanatics attached to them—toward him, then sent them to meet their god.
No one he passed could withstand a single blow.
He plunged directly into the center of the enemy ranks and began a one-man slaughter.
Seeing Hellish Roar’s ferocity, Blood Roar’s competitive spirit was also ignited.
"All Wolf Cavalry, prepare! Let’s show everyone the results of our training these past few days!"
"Charge!"
He pointed his axe forward, and thirty Beastmen mounted on gray wolves charged out as one.
The Wolf Cavalry cut into the fanatics’ formation from the other side like a sharp scimitar.
A deluge of vines shot toward them, only to be hacked apart and shattered by dozens of War Axes and wolf claws.
The Beastmen and Werewolves coordinated with tacit understanding, tearing the enemy’s formation apart in the blink of an eye.
Meanwhile, in the sky, a smile had already touched the corners of Shen Xing’s lips.
He saw that his points had skyrocketed from the original 45 to 186!
His rank had also shot up from below 10,000th place into the top 5,000.
’I didn’t expect killing these mobs would actually give points. Looks like I’ll be able to snag a ranking reward this time,’ Shen Xing thought. ’I won’t be greedy and hope for first place, but aiming for the top one thousand, or even the top one hundred, shouldn’t be a problem, right?’
After all, this wasn’t like the Foggy Void Realm event last time, where he was only competing against some Novice Lords from Jiang City.
This was a global leaderboard!
It was filled with countless P2W whales, Second Generation Lords, corporate rising stars, hopes of their clans... the list went on. It was truly a gathering of the strong.
Perhaps taking first place in Jiang City before had been a remarkable achievement.
But looking at it from a global perspective, he’d find there were thousands of others who had also taken first place in their own cities.
That’s why Grand Lord Shen didn’t set his expectations too high.
As he mulled this over, he sat leisurely on the Horned Eagle’s back, watching the battle below.
By now, the fanatics outside had been more or less wiped out by the combined forces of the Beastman army and the Skeleton Archers.
Hellish Roar was the most ferocious of them all. With just his axe, he had already fought his way from the outskirts of the Divine Hall into the main chamber.
Faced with the assault of dozens of fanatics, the Beastman’s expression didn’t change.
A single beat of his wings sent the five or six enemies at the very front flying.
He unleashed a Blade Tornado Storm, and all fanatics within a ten-meter radius were incinerated into charred husks.
He moved as if through an empty hall, slaughtering his way through the chamber until severed limbs flew everywhere.
