Building a Perfect Territory in the Mist
Chapter 124 - 95: Greenskin Tide, Level the Divine Hall
Chapter 124: Chapter 95: Greenskin Tide, Level the Divine Hall
His slaughter also seemed to have disturbed some ancient, slumbering being.
In the depths of the main hall, a cloud of gray-black dust erupted, and from within the mist, a corrupt yet powerful aura rose.
Shen Xing immediately pulled out his spyglass to look. It was a skeletal old man in a tattered green robe.
Holding a wooden Magic Staff curved like a serpent, he slowly emerged from behind a statue.
"The world decays, nature withers. Only we still hold to the faith of old..."
"Sinners who desecrate the Divine Hall, this place will become your tomb, the place of your repentance—"
Before he could finish, a green figure shot forward like a cannonball, wind whipping at its heels.
Hellish Roar raised his War Axe high, and a ghostly green flame suddenly ignited on the blade.
’What’s all this yapping? Taste my Evil Fire Self-immolation!’
FWOOSH—
The old man was instantly engulfed in flames, the Power within him forcibly sealed. The Magic he was halfway through casting came to an abrupt halt.
As the Beastman charged him, the old man’s eyelids twitched frantically. He could only raise his Magic Staff in a panicked defense.
But in the next instant, Hellish Roar vanished from his spot.
—Flash Jump Slash!
The green figure flickered, appearing above and to the side of the old man as his giant axe descended with enough force to sunder mountains!
—Charged Heavy Strike!
Sensing the terrifying power of the attack, the old man’s eyes narrowed to slits. He threw all his strength into a sideways dodge, the axe blade barely grazing his shoulder as it struck.
BOOM!!
A loud crash echoed as the violent impact shattered the ground for a dozen meters around them. The stone tiles turned to dust, and a pang of distress shot through Shen Xing.
"St—"
The old man had just started to speak.
But Hellish Roar wasn’t listening.
’The Lord said so himself: when you strike, you can’t give the enemy any quarter!’
With a flicker, his body instantly split into six identical Hellish Roars.
—Mirror Image Clone!
At that moment, the old man seemed to be locked in place by a terrifying killing intent, his body completely unable to move.
Then, the clones all vanished at once.
And then, the Slashes!
SWOOSH! SWOOSH SWOOSH SWOOSH SWOOSH!
A dense flurry of axe swings rained down like a storm, each one seeming to slice through the very air.
The ground was carved with dozens of crisscrossing fissures, and shattered stone flew everywhere.
When the attack subsided, all six clones lowered their axes and stood tall, their movements perfectly synchronized.
The green-robed old man stood frozen in place, his body riddled with dozens of gashes that light shone through.
The next moment, the wounds all burst open.
SPURT! SPURT SPURT SPURT!
Gouts of inky blood sprayed out, and his aura rapidly faded.
As the light faded, his body fell stiffly to the ground.
Shen Xing was secretly dumbfounded.
’As expected of my number one general. He really is fierce and invincible!’
’That combo actually one-shotted the boss.’
Just then, a dense black smoke began to pour from the body of the fallen old man, and a hoarse voice issued from his mouth.
"Gheh heh... you desecrators. You think you can destroy my faith like this!?"
"The great God of Nature: Alvaro! He grants me an eternal, undying body and the Power of Purification against sin..."
Shen Xing’s eyes narrowed instantly.
He sensed a strange aura suddenly rising from the old man’s body.
Moreover, a large number of black roots began to sprout rapidly from the gashes.
"Hellish Roar, get back!" he warned urgently.
The instant the words left his mouth, Hellish Roar’s real body was already in motion.
A burst of wind exploded from his feet, and he vanished on the spot.
The other clones tried to dodge as well, but the roots were faster!
Like vipers striking from a coil, they shot out in an instant, tightly binding four or five of the clones. The ends of the roots burrowed into their flesh, frantically absorbing nutrients.
The clones withered at a visible rate, turning into desiccated husks in just a few breaths before finally dissipating.
Shen Xing’s eyelids twitched. ’This thing’s attacks are so bizarre,’ he thought.
’If the real Hellish Roar hadn’t dodged so quickly, he would’ve been caught and sucked dry too.’
Meanwhile, the fallen green-robed old man rose from the ground once more.
Only now, its body was completely transformed.
Countless black roots had completely devoured it, transforming it into a writhing mass of tentacles—an indescribable, grotesque creature.
Amid the writhing tentacles, a single, enormous green eyeball could be seen.
Shen Xing focused his gaze, and a concise attribute panel appeared.
[Fallen Temple Guardian (Mutated Creature)]
[Level: ???]
[Potential: ???]
[Skills: ???]
...
Aside from its name, everything else was question marks, indicating that this monster possessed Tier Two combat power.
Although he couldn’t see its specific Level and Potential, he could roughly judge from its powerful aura that it was definitely above Level 15, perhaps even higher.
"Gheh heh... pitiful desecrator..."
A hoarse voice emanated from deep within the writhing mass of roots: "I will suck you dry... let you rot with the fallen leaves... and in so doing, you will all atone for your sins!"
As it finished speaking, dozens more black roots shot out like vipers!
Hellish Roar swung his axe ferociously, severing most of the roots, but two still slipped past the blade’s arc and dug deep into his shoulder.
THWIP! THWIP!
Blood sprayed, and Hellish Roar felt the Power in his body being rapidly drained by the roots as waves of weakness washed over him.
He tried to raise his great axe to cut them, but more roots assailed him from all sides, wrapping tightly around his arms and body and squeezing ever tighter.
"Gheh heh... you cannot escape..."
The hoarse voice echoed again as the roots suddenly constricted.
Hellish Roar’s body was squeezed until it turned beet red. A continuous CRACK-CRACK sound of bones breaking echoed from within him, as if he would explode on the spot in the next second!
