Building a Perfect Territory in the Mist
Chapter 122 - 94: Takeoff, Powerful Extraordinary-Level Horned Eagle
Chapter 122: Chapter 94: Takeoff, Powerful Extraordinary-Level Horned Eagle
By all rights, Beastmen were creatures of brawn over brains.
So why was Hellish Roar’s aptitude so exceptional, so much like his Lord’s?
’Could it be because Sacrificial Evolution changed his Talent? Or was it due to fusing with the Blood of Inferior Demon?’
After a moment, Shen Xing shook his head. "Doesn’t matter. It’s a good thing for me that Hellish Roar is so gifted and intelligent."
"The stronger he gets, the less I’ll have to worry as a Lord."
With this in mind, Shen Xing continued to wheel himself back to the center of the village.
A few minutes later, a powerful aura suddenly surged from the base of the territory’s walls.
WHOOSH—WHOOSH—
The sound of powerful wingbeats echoed as a dark shadow shot into the sky, like a bolt of black lightning tearing through the curtain of rain.
It circled two and a half times in the air before transforming into a blur and diving down.
WHOOSH...
A powerful gust of wind rushed toward him.
As it approached Shen Xing, the behemoth gradually folded its wings, transforming into a majestic and powerful Horned Eagle with brilliant plumage, landing steadily in front of his wheelchair.
It was Fried Chicken!
After its breakthrough, the creature’s body had grown by another huge margin.
Its wingspan had exploded from three or four meters to five or six, its deep green plumage now interspersed with more Dark Gold flight feathers. A tuft of ruffled feathers stood on top of its head.
Its curved talons, in particular, looked menacingly sharp, as if they could easily tear an Extraordinary Level monster to shreds.
’But... why does it feel like this Horned Eagle is getting darker with every evolution?’
Shen Xing gave Fried Chicken and its glossy black feathers a strange look.
The Horned Eagle tilted its head, staring back at its master with wide, round eyes.
"Whatever. Who cares if it’s black? As long as it’s strong, that’s all that matters."
Shen Xing looked away and turned his attention to his talent panel. "Perfect, I haven’t used today’s Sacrificial Evolution yet. I’ll use it to upgrade Fried Chicken."
[Use ’Sacrificial Evolution’ to upgrade Soldier Type: "Fried Chicken" to Boss ★?]
[This evolution requires a sacrifice of Agility x100.]
...
"Yes."
A ball of red light descended from the sky, landing on Fried Chicken’s massive body.
Unlike the agonizing bodily reconstruction Hellish Roar and Blood Roar had endured when advancing to Boss rank, Fried Chicken seemed quite comfortable.
It spread its wings, its hawk-like eyes slightly closed, and it couldn’t help but let out a soft hum.
In the light, its wings were transforming at a speed visible to the naked eye.
The feathers darkened one by one, their surfaces glinting with a cold light.
The flight feathers at the wingtips, in particular, now shone with a metallic luster, looking deadly just by sight alone.
[Evolution successful! Your Soldier Type ’Fried Chicken’ has had its Potential successfully raised to Boss ★!]
[This evolution: All Attributes +10%, Extra Agility +100]
[Skills Activated: Steel Wings (Passive), Thousand Feather Funeral]
...
"Two skills, not bad at all."
Shen Xing nodded in satisfaction and checked the attributes as usual.
[Steel Wings (Passive): Wings are reinforced, as hard as steel. Can protect itself or nearby allies, effectively blocking attacks below Tier Two. The sharp wingtips can slice through enemy armor.]
(Note: "WHOOSH... Watch out for your paraglider, I’m coming in hot!")
...
[Thousand Feather Funeral: Fire a large number of steel feathers from the wings, equal to (Agility x1), dealing piercing damage to enemies within a 15-meter radius below. Cooldown: 120 seconds.]
(Note: "Be buried in this storm of feathers, and die!")
...
"One Passive, one Active."
"The first is for both offense and defense, and the second is even an area-of-effect skill."
"These two Skills significantly boost Fried Chicken’s mobility and lethality. Excellent."
After his assessment, Shen Xing opened Fried Chicken’s attribute panel to take a look.
[Horned Eagle: Fried Chicken]
[Lord: Shen Xing]
[Level: Level 9 (Tier Two Extraordinary)]
[Potential: Boss ★]

...
Just like Hellish Roar, Fried Chicken’s Attributes were also rather extreme.
Its Agility Attribute far surpassed its other stats, having already broken through three hundred.
’With such high Agility, plus a full set of speed-boosting skills, it could probably outspeed even a Leader of the same tier at full throttle, right?’
Shen Xing mused that he should have it go test its mettle against a Leader sometime.
"Fried Chicken, come here."
"SCREE~"
The newly evolved Horned Eagle quickly approached, lowering its head to affectionately nuzzle his wheelchair.
Shen Xing admired Fried Chicken’s new form for a moment before his gaze fell on its broad back, a thoughtful expression on his face.
’Should I have Fried Chicken take me for a flight? Experience what it feels like to fly?’
After some thought, he decided to give it a try.
He would have to get used to it sooner or later. He couldn’t just have the Beastmen carry him around in his wheelchair forever.
A flying mount would make getting around incredibly convenient.
At this thought, Shen Xing prepared to leap onto Fried Chicken’s back.
And how does one jump without legs, you ask? With Hope’s Feather, of course. Was he supposed to crawl up with his bare hands?
That would be far too undignified and would damage Grand Lord Shen’s image.
The blue feather in his hand flashed, and his body became weightless.
Pushing off with his arms, Shen Xing floated up from his wheelchair and landed steadily on Fried Chicken’s back.
Then, with a wave of his hand, he stowed the wheelchair in his personal inventory.
Still, just to be safe, he tied a rope around Fried Chicken’s back and fastened it to his own waist.
Getting thrown off mid-flight would be a disaster.
With all preparations complete, Shen Xing gave a grand wave of his hand.
"Take off!"
"SCREEECH—"
With a sharp scream, Fried Chicken shot into the sky.
Like a black thunderbolt, it ascended hundreds of meters in the blink of an eye, about to break through the radius of the firelight below.
Just then, Shen Xing lit the Level 6 Horse Lantern in his hand, its light instantly dispelling the Fog in a 150-meter diameter.
With a powerful flap of its wings, Fried Chicken plunged headfirst into the dense, gray Fog.
The wind howled past his ears, and the bone-chilling raindrops felt like ice needles, stinging his skin on impact.
Their speed already exceeded 300 kilometers per hour. At this velocity, even a stray pebble could be lethal enough to pierce through a body.
And this was just Fried Chicken’s normal cruising speed. If it activated Gale Wings, its speed would multiply several times over.
Fortunately, Shen Xing was now a Level 8 Pioneer. Having consumed so many powerful items, his Constitution had been significantly enhanced.
He could still handle this speed.
WHOOSH—
A massive shadow shot through the air. Wherever it went, the orange glow of the lantern dispelled the Fog, and the surrounding scenery blurred past them.
"So this is what it feels like to fly? It’s awesome!"
Shen Xing held the Horse Lantern in one hand and gripped the reins tightly in the other, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Ever since his legs had been crippled, even simple movement had become incredibly difficult, let alone experiencing such unimaginable speed.
But here, in this perilous Land of Mist, he felt a thrill he hadn’t experienced in a long time—the rush of adrenaline pumping through his veins!
Fried Chicken sensed its master’s excitement and performed a few high-difficulty aerial maneuvers, nearly making Shen Xing throw up on the spot.
They hadn’t gone far when Shen Xing suddenly spotted a target.
In the dense Fog below, a group of tattered, charred-black Lost Ones was rushing toward his territory.
"You’ve chosen the path of death."
Shen Xing waved a hand. "Fried Chicken, go."
"KEE!"
Fried Chicken instantly spread its wings, unleashing terrifying speed as it dove!
Its massive body, wreathed in a powerful gale, hurtled toward the group of Lost Ones like a high-speed fighter jet.
Its wings traced a cold arc of light as they sliced through the monster mob.
THWIP! THWIP-THWIP-THWIP-THWIP!
A series of slicing sounds reached his ears.
When Shen Xing looked back,
he saw a thin line appear across the waists of the Lost Ones.
Then, with a wet THUMP, they all fell apart, neatly severed into pieces.
On the leaderboard, his contribution points shot up by more than a dozen.
A flicker of excitement appeared in Shen Xing’s eyes. "Keep going."
"SCREE!"
With a sharp scream, Fried Chicken changed direction and dove toward the enemy once more!
SWOOSH—SWOOSH—
After two passes, dozens of Lost Ones had been completely slaughtered.
Fried Chicken hadn’t even used any Skills. It had utterly crushed its enemies simply by relying on its terrifying speed.
’This is the power of an Extraordinary Level creature. The attacks from these Tier One monsters can’t even break through Fried Chicken’s defense.’
Satisfied, Shen Xing waved his hand and collected all the scattered loot on the ground into his inventory.
[Obtained: Soul Stone x76]
[Obtained: Vinar Silver Coins x124]
[Obtained...]
"Let’s go. Back to the village," Shen Xing said, patting the Horned Eagle’s back.
Fried Chicken took to the sky again, rushing toward the distant village.
In just a few breaths, it carried him back into the radius of the firelight, and waves of warmth washed over him.
Shen Xing didn’t dismount. Instead, he had Fried Chicken hover in the air, giving him a bird’s-eye view of the entire territory.
Elsewhere, Hellish Roar had already completed his pre-battle preparations.
Before him, a total of 101 Beastmen stood in neat formation.
In addition to 70 Beastman Infantry, there were 30 tall Wolf Cavalry mounted on Werewolves.
Alongside them were twenty Skeleton Archers.
As Shen Xing steered the Horned Eagle over to the assembled troop, all the Beastmen turned to look in unison, their eyes shining with loyalty.
"Lord, the troops are assembled. Awaiting your orders!" Hellish Roar stepped forward and reported, his body ramrod straight.
Shen Xing nodded in satisfaction. "Hellish Roar, what do you estimate our chances are of taking that Divine Hall with this force?"
Hellish Roar mulled it over for a moment before replying, "Barring any unforeseen circumstances, our chances of victory are at least 150%!"
Shen Xing was pleased. Although the success rate wasn’t the 200% he had hoped for, it was still more than enough to act on.
As for the territory’s defense, Reina would be in command.
With the Inferior Demon Legion and the Black Moon Knight Order present, their defenses were more than sufficient.
"Very good. You will now lead the Beastman forces and head to the Divine Hall immediately!" he commanded from the Horned Eagle’s back, tossing down a Horse Lantern.
"As you command, Lord!"
The Beastman caught the Horse Lantern, his eyes burning with the will to fight.
The next moment, the Horned Eagle flapped its wings and shot upward. Like a black thunderbolt, it carried its Lord and plunged into the dense Fog ahead of the others.
Below, Hellish Roar and Blood Roar waved their arms, leading the hundred Beastmen straight forward, followed by twenty clattering skeletons.
