Chapter 134: Chapter 134: Business Deal

Author’s Note: A Quick Clarification on Currency

Just a quick clarification regarding the currency system as I made a mistake in the previous Chapter.

There are two types of currency: spirit coins and spirit stones.

Spirit coins are the ordinary currency used for everyday transactions, while spirit stones serve as both currency and cultivation resources. Spirit stones are divided into three grades, with the following exchange rates:

1 Low-Grade Spirit Stone = 100 Spirit Coins

1 Middle-Grade Spirit Stone = 1,000 Spirit Coins

1 High-Grade Spirit Stone = 10,000 Spirit Coins

To correct the previous Chapter, Sui Sui earned 30,000 spirit coins from selling his pills, not 30,000 spirit stones.

Thank you for your understanding, and please refer to these exchange rates in future Chapters!

"Excuse me, Fellow Cultivator. Could I have a moment of your time?" a man asked politely.

Sui Sui paused while packing up his belongings and turned toward the unfamiliar voice. Standing before him was a middle-aged man dressed in neat, well-kept robes. He appeared to be in his forties, with a courteous smile and a composed demeanor. At first glance, he seemed more like a businessman approaching someone to discuss a deal than a cultivator looking for trouble.

Sui Sui glanced behind him, briefly wondering whether the man was addressing someone else. When he found no one nearby, he pointed at himself, looking slightly puzzled.

"Me?"

"Yes, you," the man replied with a smile.

Sui Sui looked back at him curiously. "Is there something you need, Fellow Cultivator?"

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wang Shun, and I’m the manager of Mingxin Pill Shop." The man cupped his hands in greeting before continuing with a polite smile. "I’ve been observing your stall for a while, and I was hoping you might spare us some time for a discussion. Would you mind accompanying us?" Yes, this was indeed the same manager slash supervisor of the Mingxin Pill shop a few months ago, ever since they knew of Sui Sui then, they had been looking forward to the next time he would come, unfortunately even after waiting for a month, then didn’t see him again.

However, just right now, a good news was delivered to them and so the manager Wang Shun quickly got ready for business, this time they must get this person on their side.

Upon hearing that the man was the manager of Mingxin Pill Shop, Sui Sui was slightly surprised.

Mingxin Pill Shop was the largest pill shop in Linfeng City. For its manager to personally approach him, a small independent cultivator selling pills at a street stall, was certainly unexpected.

What could they possibly want with him?

Sui Sui glanced at his now-empty stall before turning his attention back to Wang Shun. Since the man had gone out of his way to approach him personally, whatever he wanted to discuss was probably worth hearing out. Besides, he was only being invited for a conversation. There was no harm in listening first.

"Alright, then. I’ll trouble you to lead the way."

"Not at all. Please, follow me."

Wang Shun led Sui Sui into Mingxin Pill Shop. Rather than taking him deeper into the building, however, he brought him to a reception area near the entrance. Several tables and chairs had been arranged for guests, providing a convenient place to discuss business without making Sui Sui feel too unsecure but at the same time not disturbing the customers browsing the main hall.

"Please, have a seat, Fellow Cultivator." Wang Shun gestured toward the chair opposite him. Just as Sui Sui was about to sit down, the manager paused and asked, "By the way, may I ask your name?"

Sui Sui hesitated for a moment.

He had nearly forgotten that he hadn’t introduced himself. However, he had no intention of revealing his real name to a stranger just yet. After a brief moment of thought, he decided to use the alias he had given the Luo sisters back in Xuánshuāng City.

"I’m called Tuanzi," he replied.

Wang Shun paused for the briefest moment before cupping his hands again. "Then please, have a seat, Cultivator Tuanzi."

Sui Sui took the offered seat, and Wang Shun settled into the chair opposite him. Before long, an attendant approached with a pot of tea and two cups, carefully arranging them on the table before withdrawing.

"Would you care for some tea?" Wang Shun asked, pouring himself a cup.

"Thank you, but I’ll pass," Sui Sui replied politely. He wasn’t particularly thirsty, and more importantly, he still had no idea why the manager had sought him out for. Until he knew what this meeting was about, he would rather not get too comfortable.

Wang Shun did not insist. He simply set the teapot aside, folded his hands on the table, and regarded Sui Sui with the same warm, professional smile. "Then, shall we get down to business?"

Sui Sui glanced at Wang Shun, who was seated across from him, before finally deciding to get straight to the point. "Um, Manager Wang, may I ask what you wanted to discuss with me?"

"It’s quite simple, actually." Wang Shun set down his teacup and looked at him with a polite smile. "Are you perhaps the cultivator who has been selling High-Grade pills in the northern district?"

Sui Sui hesitated briefly before nodding. "I’m not sure if I’m the person you’re looking for, but I do sell High-Grade pills."

Wang Shun’s eyes immediately lit up. His smile widened, and he leaned forward slightly, looking rather pleased with himself.

"Wonderful! Then I’ve found the right person." He clasped his hands together before continuing, " It is like this, our Mingxin Pill Shop would like to establish a formal agreement with you to purchase your pills. What do you think, Cultivator Tuanzi?"

Sui Sui blinked, momentarily caught off guard by the straightforward offer. So this was why the manager had personally approached him. They wanted to buy his pills. But why would the largest pill shop in Linfeng City be interested in purchasing pills from a small independent cultivator like him? Surely, they had access to plenty of established suppliers already.

Seeing the puzzled expression on Sui Sui’s face, Manager Wang realized that he needed to explain the arrangement more clearly. He set his teacup aside and leaned forward slightly, adopting the patient manner of someone accustomed to negotiating business.

"Allow me to explain. As you may know, Mingxin Pill Shop is the largest pill shop in Linfeng City. We offer a wide variety of medicinal pills and cultivation resources, and our reputation attracts customers from all over the city. Naturally, we have a steady demand for medicinal pills, which is why we’re always looking for reliable suppliers, specifically on higher grade pills."

He paused briefly to let Sui Sui digest his words before continuing.

"If you agree to become one of our suppliers, you won’t have to worry about finding buyers for your pills anymore. We will purchase them directly from you, and the shop will provide the medicinal herbs needed for their refinement. In return, all you need to do is deliver the agreed-upon quantity of pills within the specified time, and we will pay you according to the terms of our contract."

The more Sui Sui listened, the more appealing the arrangement became. Actually, this was more in line with his original plan in the first place, it was only because he didn’t like the terms offered to him last time that he settled on selling by himself. Still, he wasn’t about to agree without knowing the exact terms.

"Then what about the price?" Sui Sui asked. He paused briefly before adding, "There’s also something I should make clear. At the moment, I can only refine low-level pills, and also, how long is this time limit, if it is too fast, I might not be able to agree to the terms you offer"

Manager Wang nodded as though he had anticipated these concerns early on and was already prepared "No problem, we have taken all these into consideration, for the price, we’re willing to raise our original offer of fifty spirit coins to one hundred spirit coins per pill. I understand that this is still lower than the price you sell them for, but in exchange, Mingxin Pill Shop will provide all the medicinal herbs you need for refinement. That way, you won’t have to spend your own spirit coins on ingredients."

He smiled then continued, addressing Sui Sui’s other concerns. "We also do not mind the low-level pills, so you needn’t worry about that. As for the delivery schedule, we can arrange the deadline for you to deliver the pills at the end of each month. However, Ideally, we’d like a hundred pills of each type per batch. What do you think, Cultivator Tuanzi?"

Sui Sui considered the offer carefully. One hundred spirit coins per pill was certainly less than the one hundred and twenty he usually charged, but the difference wasn’t too bad when he considered what he would gain in return. Plus, the shop would provide all the necessary medicinal herbs, saving him a considerable amount of money and sparing him the trouble of sourcing the ingredients himself. He could also sell his pills in bulk rather than spend hours at a street stall waiting for customers.

As for the delivery schedule, the end of each month gave him enough time to attend to his own affairs while preparing the required quantities. A hundred pills of each type per batch was a substantial order, but he was confident he could manage it.

After weighing the advantages against the conditions, Sui Sui felt that the arrangement was worth accepting.

"Alright, Manager Wang. I agree."

Seeing that Sui Sui had agreed to the deal, Manager Wang’s face brightened with a satisfied smile. The two soon proceeded to finalize their agreement, and an attendant brought out a contract for them to review.

In this case, the contract clearly outlined the terms of their partnership. Mingxin Pill Shop would provide the medicinal herbs required for refining the pills and pay Sui Sui one hundred spirit coins for each pill delivered. In return, Sui Sui would supply the agreed-upon quantities of pills at the end of each month. The contract also specified the responsibilities of both parties, leaving little room for either side to twist the agreement to their own advantage.

Sui Sui read through every clause carefully, paying particular attention to the obligations he would be bound to fulfill. Only after confirming that the terms were fair did he sign his name, officially sealing the agreement

With the contract settled, Manager Wang asked which medicinal herbs he needed. Sui Sui requested a hundred portions of the ingredients required to refine each of the three types of pills he could currently make. The shop promptly prepared the herbs and provided him with an additional space bag to store them. Also since he was already there, Sui Sui also purchased several seeds for his personal use.

With the transaction finally complete, Sui Sui left Mingxin Pill Shop with a considerable haul.
