Chapter 167: 167: NO CELEBRATIONS.

Silence lingered between the two of them as Grey slowly nodded with a smile. "You’re probably not in the best mood. I’ll leave you to be..." he said as he slowly got to his feet. "I’ll be back, okay?"

With that, he left the room.

Syll sat there alone on the bed, staring into thin air. He held the cup firmly in his hands while biting his lower lip.

His eyes grew heavy as he felt tears building up in them. He was certain he would break down and sob at any moment if he didn’t hold himself back.

And so he did. He closed his eyes, held his breath, and slowly sipped from the drink.

He stayed there silently, without a word, thinking through everything that had happened.

---

June sat at the dining table with his parents and two brothers. Dinner had been served, and they ate while chatting casually.

It had been two days since the lab incident, but the aftermath still lingered. The media and the public were still talking about it, and it remained a topic of discussion in June’s home as well.

Mrs. En sighed as they ate, glancing toward June’s room. "He’s still not awake after two days? Are you sure he’s okay?"

Nyx had been brought to June’s house after being taken to the hospital from the dungeon. After all the treatments and tests, the doctor had confirmed that he was fine.

It was suggested that he might remain unconscious for a while and would need to be taken care of in the meantime. So June had insisted on bringing him home.

"He’ll be fine," June said hopefully as he ate. "I’m sure he’ll wake up soon enough."

Mr. En nodded. "Look at my boy. He’s grown to be such a caring young man." He smiled as he reached over and pulled June by the cheeks.

June brushed his hands away. "I’m always this caring," he insisted, making them smile and shake their heads.

"No doubt about that." Mrs. En smiled as she glanced toward June’s room again. "I still can’t believe his parents haven’t come to check on him. They didn’t even come to pick him up after the whole incident... Are you sure they’re good parents?"

Grey smiled. "They’re probably having it hard right now. After Mr. Kevin’s death, they were close to him while he was alive, so they’ve been roped into the investigations going on after his death."

Lucas nodded as he added, "They might end up being convicted because of it, or perhaps find a smart way to escape it. But either way, things aren’t looking so bright for them."

Mrs. En shook her head. "Such terrible parents. That poor boy has certainly been through hell... He looks so lean and tired. I can’t wait for him to wake up so I can feed him everything."

Mr. En nodded. "Definitely. And son, when he wakes up, make sure you have him transfer here and start living with us. I insist. He’s your friend with terrible parents, so we should give him the maximum care."

Mrs. En nodded enthusiastically. "Certainly."

June blinked. "Huh? Why...?"

"You can’t say no. It’s decided. He’ll stay with us from now on. We have more than enough rooms and money to take care of him," Mrs. En insisted.

Grey smiled as he added, "Why give him another room when he can share the same room with June? I’m sure they’d both be happy with that."

June cast him a cold glare while Grey laughed.

"Shut up."

Mr. and Mrs. En stared at June.

"Oh? Is there something we don’t know yet...? You two...?"

"Let’s eat. I’m hungry," June brushed it off as he continued eating, his cheeks flushed.

Mr. and Mrs. En stared at each other before looking back at June. "Our son is becoming more and more suspicious," they said, shaking their heads.

Lucas continued eating as he spoke. "With the death of Mr. Kevin, some things should get better now..." He stared at June. "The government is now taking action to tear down his legacies and restore everything he messed up. Apparently, he had been manipulating his way through his government position."

June nodded. "Thought as much. Hopefully, things should get a bit better now."

"And you and your friend group will probably be invited for a reward by the government soon," Grey said. "Something about rewarding your courage and strength for taking down the enemy." He shrugged. "I suppose I’ll be there too."

Mr. and Mrs. En smiled, looking happier than June as they stared at each other before turning toward him.

"Oh dear! That’s great! Our son will be officially recognized by the government and rewarded nationally. That’s such a great thing!" Mrs. En beamed.

"I always knew you’d make me proud one day," Mr. En said with a smile. "This certainly calls for a celebration!"

"Certainly! A grand one," Mrs. En added happily.

June stared at them. "No. Please don’t."

Mr. and Mrs. En blinked.

"Are you sure about that...?" Mr. En inquired. "You can always think it through."

"I’m sure."

They stared at each other again before saying, "We’ll make it a backup plan, then, in case you change your mind."

"...."

June was speechless.

"And that automatically means you’ll be going back to the academy as well," Grey added. "As an honored student with your friends."

Their parents’ expressions lit up with excitement as they stared at June.

June stared at them. "No double celebration..." he warned, as though he could read through their minds.

Grey smiled. "You did well this time. Good job." He then turned to Lucas, who had been quiet throughout the conversation. "And your elder brother also has something to say to you."

They all turned toward Lucas, who sat there quietly staring at them.

"What?" June asked.

Grey smiled. "Don’t be too cold. Just speak."

June raised an eyebrow, sitting up slightly as he waited to hear what Lucas had to say.

Lucas cleared his throat. He stared down at his meal before looking up at June. "You..."

He hesitated, as though searching for the right words.

Everyone grew quiet, staring at him in anticipation of what he wanted to say.

After a moment, he finally spoke.
