Chapter 166: 166: NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

June was speechless as he heard that. He instantly pulled back from the kiss and stared up at the system.

"What? Right here? Right now?" June couldn’t comprehend the fact that this dang system was demanding they have sex in the middle of a crumbling dungeon.

[Note: His energy is temporarily stabilized at the moment.]

[So escaping the dungeon before complete collapse is possible.]

[But his Negative Energy from the dungeon hasn’t been completely erased and might lead to a relapse soon after.]

[It is recommended to eliminate the dark energy leading to his berserk state as soon as possible.]

[And the fastest means of achieving this is Intimacy: The highest form of purification.]

June gasped. He didn’t know what to make of the demand the system had presented. "Is there another way out if not intimacy...?"

[Yes. There are other options to be explored.]

June sighed. He supposed that would be worth checking out. But with the dungeon already collapsing around them, he didn’t think now was the best time.

He turned to stare at Nyx, whom he had left halfway through their kiss.

But Nyx had already collapsed.

"....."

Nyx lay there on the floor, unconscious, and June didn’t understand what was happening. "Hey..." He tried waking him up. "Why are you sleeping...? Hey..." He tried again, but Nyx was completely unconscious.

June panicked. The atmosphere was still shattering around them, and he was sure it would only get worse within a minute or so.

"How are we supposed to leave here if..." Before he could finish his sentence, a yellow portal suddenly opened right before them.

June smiled at the sight and gasped. "We’re safe."

He reached out and pulled Nyx up. "Let’s go..." He dragged him toward the portal, wondering if Ryan and the others were safe as well.

June quickly confirmed it through the system, and the portal had also opened for them.

And so, June pulled the unconscious Nyx into the portal, and the two of them disappeared inside.

As soon as the portal closed, the entire dungeon slowly collapsed into dust and disappeared.

A DAY LATER

Syll sat on the hospital bed with a blanket covering his leg. Grey walked into the room and offered him a cup of hot tea.

"Here. Just the way you like it. As your employee, I still know you best," he said with a soft smile as he watched Syll take the drink.

Syll held the cup with both hands and slowly sipped from it while Grey sat down on the stool beside the bed, watching him.

Grey smiled as he watched him drink the hot tea. "How are you feeling? Better than yesterday?"

Syll said nothing. He simply sat there, sipping his drink while Grey stared at him.

Grey sighed as he adjusted the blanket over Syll’s leg. "Giving me the silent treatment won’t help anything..." He stared at him. "If you’re sad, you should tell me. I’ll listen."

Syll scoffed. "And why should I be sad? So nosy," he muttered, taking another sip of his drink.

Grey smiled. "Are you really okay? Are you really okay with the fact that he might be dead?"

Silence filled the room.

"He’s dead, and that’s it. There’s nothing else to say about it," Syll said firmly. He stared straight into thin air for a while before continuing.

"And why should I be worried about that...? We’re basically strangers. Just glued together by some dumb family name and a father-son title. Nothing special." He sighed.

Grey stared at him. "Is that so...?" He hesitated before continuing. "Then why didn’t you tell me about it? If it didn’t mean much, why didn’t you tell me?"

There was silence as Syll stared down at the hot tea in his cup for a while, as though carefully thinking through his words. After a moment, he finally spoke.

"And what difference does it make?"

"That I’m the son of an asshole like that? I’d rather not accept being associated with him... no." He hesitated as he stared at Grey. "And it wasn’t something I needed to tell you. So don’t act like you needed to know."

Grey hesitated before asking, "Was that why you broke up with me back then?"

Silence settled between the two of them as they stared at each other. Their eyes remained locked in lingering tension before Grey finally spoke.

"I guess that’s it..." He sighed. "You suddenly broke up with me and ran away... I guess it had something to do with him."

Syll stared at him. "And who do you think you are? Why do you think everything revolves around you? Why would you think I made that decision because of that? Why..." He hesitated, staring down at his drink again. "I don’t want to talk about it. So please... leave, or talk about something else."

Silence filled the room again as Grey stared down at the cup in Syll’s hands. He gently reached out and took Syll’s hand, holding it tenderly with a small smile.

"It’s okay to be vulnerable, you know?" He stared at Syll as he spoke. "And no matter what happens, it’s okay to let me know, too."

"I’ve been here for years. I’ve been by your side long enough to wait forever for you. So it’s okay to know that you can trust me with anything..."

He smiled as he added, "I’ll always be here to listen and understand. Okay?"

Syll sat there, struggling to hold back the tears threatening to break through his eyes as he stared at him. His heart quavered at Grey’s gaze and his words.

But Syll turned away from him, biting his lower lip. "You should take your dedication somewhere else where it’s appreciated. Don’t waste it on me, because I don’t care..."

He turned back to stare at Grey, meeting his eyes.

"I don’t care how long you’ve been by my side. I’m not interested in noticing that. And I’m certainly not interested in trusting my life story with you..."

"So..." Syll said quietly. "Leave me alone."
