Chapter 150: 150: VILLAIN CORE.

June was still sobbing while kneeling close to Nyx. In the meantime, he searched his brain for any possible way to save him.

He couldn’t find anything. He didn’t know what to do. But at that moment, he thought of something.

Something that could potentially lead to a solution. And even though he wasn’t sure it would work, he had to try nevertheless.

June stopped himself from sobbing as he stared at Nyx, who was lying there on the bed, still struggling.

Without hesitation, June leaned in closer and pressed his lips against his.

A kiss. That was June’s only trial at the moment.

He gently pressed his lips against Nyx’s in a warm, tender kiss. Tears flowed down his cheeks, trickling toward their lips as they met.

Even amidst the kiss, Nyx was still struggling, fighting with himself while bound to the bed.

But through the kiss, June felt something ring in his mind.

As soon as he opened his eyes and pulled away from the kiss, he caught sight of a yellowish system tab opening right before his eyes.

He gasped. Something, at least.

[DING]

[NEW ENERGY SURGE DETECTED]

Confused, June stared at the system, hoping to get an answer to his question.

"Save him. Wake him up or do anything. I don’t care how it’s done, just... save him from this."

"Or at least tell me what to do... anything." June was desperate.

[DING]

[Host’s body is growing weak and deteriorating.]

[The energy imposed is too much for the host at the moment and is instantly draining the host quickly.]

[Host’s F-rank body is too weak to carry the energy imposed.]

[If this continues for long, the host might lose his life or go straight into a coma, rendering his weak F-rank body vessel useless.]

June knew that. At least, he could already guess the outcome of the situation. So that wasn’t what he needed now.

"A solution. Grant me a solution now. Please..." he requested.

[DING! SOLUTION DETECTED]

June gasped, staring at the screen. "What’s... what’s it?"

[ULTRA ENERGY DETECTED WITHIN HOST]

[S-ULTRA ENERGY DETECTED INSIDE THE HOST. THE ULTRA ENERGY WAS LEFT BEHIND BY HIS BROTHER.]

June tilted his head, confused. "Ultra energy...? An energy higher than what his brother had...?"

[Not exactly. It’s THE energy of his brother. His brother had an S-Ultra energy force. And that was why Mr. Kevin was specifically after him—or this energy force.]

June gasped. He guessed that made more sense. Mr. Kevin wouldn’t just go after any S-rank. He would go after a special S-rank.

And Nyx’s brother seemingly had an S-Ultra core.

"So... what’s that got to do with Nyx...?" June stared at the system.

[The test being run on Nyx is attempting to trigger that S-Ultra energy for Mr. Kevin’s manipulation.]

[And now, in the process of this, the S-Ultra energy has been activated within him. And it’s sitting on the surface now.]

[So, two things will either happen now: You let the machine tamper with it according to Mr. Kevin’s will and risk his chance of even surviving at all, or activate it first within him for his own use.]

June thought through the options. It was clear which one was better.

[But YOU MUST take note of the important information at hand now.]

[Note: Activating the S-Ultra energy within him doesn’t casually only wake him up.]

[Because although it is a sure way to wake him up while keeping him alive, it comes with unpredictable side effects.]

[And other than side effects, the S-Ultra energy awakens another shade of Nyx.]

June raised an eyebrow, confused. "What’s that supposed to mean...?"

[Simply put, in your understanding: This S-Ultra energy is the VILLAIN ENERGY of the host.]

[It’s the most powerful energy within him that automatically triggers the darker shade of him.]

[If done, the host will automatically awaken a darker side of himself that he can’t necessarily control. The villain side of him will fight to consume his rationale.]

[The Ultra power thus comes with his full power and ultimately dark energy he can’t control. And this dark energy might consume him whole if he can’t seem to control it.]

[So, the host should consider this too before making a decision.]

June gasped at the option before him. He almost found himself laughing at how everything was falling into place.

He didn’t need anyone to explain that this was the energy that ultimately turned Nyx into the main villain in the book.

Nyx was power-hungry. So, the moment the Ultra core was activated in him through Mr. Kevin’s experiments, he instantly embraced the dark side.

And he became the villain, setting himself on his doomed path.

And now, June guessed he couldn’t avoid that plotline. It was right before his eyes, only in a more refurbished form.

Now his options were clear: Let Nyx risk falling under Mr. Kevin’s control and dying, OR save Nyx from both dangers but ultimately unlock his villain core.

June found himself staring into thin air, wondering: Doesn’t that spell doom either way?!

The situation grew critical. Nyx’s pain spiked as he struggled even more.

Ryan and Syll couldn’t seem to handle the machine, which was already malfunctioning. It sparked and sent them flying backward, crashing against jars filled with chemicals and medicines.

At that critical moment, when it seemed everything was falling apart, Mr. Kevin staggered to his feet, now conscious.

He ran a hand through his hair as he stared toward Nyx and June with a malicious smile.

"You can’t stop it," he laughed. "Trying to do so would mean hurting him or even risking killing him... And I’m sure you don’t want to do that."

Mr. Kevin smiled as June glared at him, furious.

"So give up and let me complete my task. That’s the only way your dear friend will ever be able to live."

But June stared at him, fists clenched, as he found himself instantly making the final decision that seemed most right at the moment.

"System," June said. "Proceed with activating the damn S-Ultra core."
