Chapter 149: 149: ALL DONE.

Simon, Kael, and Grey stood at the entrance of the main lab room where Syll and the rest had infiltrated.

Their job was to keep watch and stop any security men from flooding in for backup. Syll was sure that once they kicked off their attack, the security men would be alerted and come rushing in.

And it happened.

Soon, they caught sight of security men rushing toward the scene with their weapons in response to the alert that had gone off in the lab.

"They’re here," Kael said, staring at the approaching men ahead.

Syll had told them that it might be hard to take them down physically since they were also highly trained S-rank Esper combatants.

So, Syll handed the three of them a black baton and informed them to strike at the approaching army when the time came.

They were skeptical. They weren’t sure how this little baton was supposed to help them take down a group of S-rank Esper combatants.

But they decided to trust Syll after all.

As the men approached, they stretched out their batons toward them. Immediately, electricity struck from the batons and flashed straight toward the men ahead.

It moved from one man to another, striking them all down with harsh electricity that pierced through their bodies and left them numb.

Immediately, they all fell to the floor unconscious, while the three of them stood there staring in disbelief.

"Whoa, I guess Syll does know what he’s doing..." Kael said as Simon slowly nodded. They guessed what they held in their hands wasn’t ordinary at all.

With this set of men down, they stood there waiting for another group to arrive while Syll and the rest continued their work inside.

But while they stood there waiting, they suddenly heard a mild explosion from inside.

Confused, the three turned to see what was happening. They caught sight of white smoke coming out from the room and wondered what could have happened.

They wanted to rush in and check, but another group of security men came flooding in. And this time, there were much more than the first group.

"Oh dear..." Kael muttered as they held their batons firmly for another attack.

"Go in and check on them," Grey said. "We’ll be here holding them off. Let us know if you need any help."

Kael nodded as he turned and walked off with the baton, making his way into the lab.

Simon and Grey remained outside, handling the approaching men with their batons. They waved them at the attackers, sending electricity through their bodies and shocking them until they dropped to the floor like flies.

But they didn’t stop at all. As though the whole organization had been informed, they kept coming in like flies.

Simon and Grey had more work to handle now.

As soon as Kael rushed into the lab, the first thing he saw was Mr. Kevin smiling mischievously as he turned on the control from where he stood.

Immediately, electricity ran through the wires, hit the machine, and brought it to life.

Hyper energy burst through the machine as the numbers and stats spiked. The machine began running wildly, seemingly losing control as sparks flew in every direction.

It had a mini burst, causing Ryan to instantly step backward to protect himself from it.

He couldn’t approach the machine at the moment with sparks and electrical shocks flying rampantly. Instead, their attention shifted to Nyx, who was now being affected.

Energy ran through his veins as they bulged, sweat covering his body. Nyx let out a loud cry of pain while struggling against the bed that held him down.

"Argh!" He cried out while fighting to get out of the hooks. Sparks ran through the wires connected to him, surging through his body. Yellow energy was being sapped from him and flowing through tubes into the machine.

It had gotten even more aggressive. Nyx felt extreme pain where he lay, fighting to set himself free with his eyes still shut, unconscious from the pain.

"Nyx... It’s okay... Calm down. Nyx..." June tried to help, but he didn’t know what to do.

He panicked while trying to hold Nyx’s hand, staring at him, running his hand through his hair and over his face, but nothing worked.

"I’m here... Don’t worry... I’m here... It’ll be okay..." June was panicking beyond measure. He could almost feel tears running down his cheeks as he stared at Nyx.

He couldn’t bear to see him in this state. And he felt almost useless, not knowing what to do at that moment to save him.

He could only run his hand through Nyx’s hair, head, and face, sobbing softly while desperately searching his thoughts for a solution.

Mr. Kevin held the wire, laughing viciously as he said, "Give up already. You can’t stop anything. I’ve worked my whole life for this, and it’ll come to pass!" He said it while laughing.

Without thinking, Kael instantly rushed toward Mr. Kevin from behind and zapped him with the baton.

Electricity sparked through Mr. Kevin and ran deep into his veins. Immediately, his body vibrated before he fell to the floor unconscious.

Kael rushed over, picked up the wire, and instantly began looking for a way to disable it.

He didn’t know how it worked, but he struggled to find a way to make it stop. He pulled wires, connected others, and even cut some.

But nothing happened.

The machine was still running, and Nyx was still in massive pain. Nothing was stopping at all.

Syll had rushed to the scene and stood beside Kael as the two struggled to find a way to handle it. When it wasn’t working, Syll walked up to the machine where Ryan was.

The two of them proceeded to urgently find a way to disable the machine while Mr. Kevin remained unconscious.

And June was still kneeling close to Nyx, sobbing and trying to wake him up, but to no avail.

"Wake up already. Snap out of it..." He sobbed, but there was no response. "I promise, if you wake up, I’ll give you my answer now. I’ll reply, so please... wake up from it..." He said anything that came to his mind.

But all he could do was kneel there and watch Nyx go through extreme pain.
