Chapter 2042: Bad Luck Always Follow him

Tang Shaoyang motioned at Elnar to follow him outside. He would pay right away so they could get the Auspicious Mytherean in the booth for his daughters. Elnar followed to do a check-up on the Beast Spirit, ensuring the Auspicious Mytherean was healthy.

“The Cladeos Emporium will not sell a sickly Beast Spirit, let alone put them up for auction.”

The attendant was offended when Tang Shaoyang delayed the payment with an excuse of letting Elnar check on the grumpy Auspicious Mytherean.

“I have learned my lesson, only to trust my men. If you are confident that your Beast Spirit is healthy, then there’s no reason for you to stop us from doing so, no?”

Tang Shaoyang believed in the Cladeos Emporium’s integrity, but he could not help but become suspicious when the attendant tried to stop Elnar from inspecting the Beast Spirit.

Meanwhile, Elnar also inspected the Beast Spirit. He squinted his eyes further, then he glanced at the attendant who tried his best to stop them. This became even more fishy, and the giant Troll squatted next to the cage for a closer inspection. However, the attendant tried to shove Elnar away from the cage.

The attendant was a human, a Myth Rank at that. There was no way he could shove Elnar, who was at God Rank. He realized it too late and tried to bring the cage away from Elnar instead. However, Elnar did not pursue the attendant because he confirmed why the attendant was so adamant about not letting them inspect before paying for it.

“Don’t pay it, Boss. They try to deceive you. This Auspicious Mytherean is different from the one on the stage. It’s a male, but there’s something wrong with it. It looked healthy, but it also looked amiss. I can’t figure it out until I can hold it, but yeah, this one is different from the one they put on auction!”

Elnar immediately informed his boss about his findings.

“So how does it work? We cancel the bid?” Tang Shaoyang fully trusted Elnar, especially when the attendant acted so suspiciously like that. If it were different, then he didn’t need to pay them.

“You can’t!” The attendant screamed. He was sweating bullets because the emporium would find out about this, and it would not end with just losing his job. “You can’t cancel the item you have bid on, or you will be blacklisted from the market!”

The door opened, “What’s wrong? What took you so long? The third item is about to be revealed…” Elonia paused, looking at the situation.

Tang Shaoyang and Elnar stood side by side, and two of her people were standing in front of the cage. They seemed to be protecting the cage from Tang Shaoyang and Elnar, which did not make sense.

“Lady Elonia!” The attendant was getting even more nervous as he exclaimed the name. He did not know that Lady Elonia was with this man. He did not know the relationship between the two, but the only way to save himself was to turn this against this man.

“He refused to pay the bid, Lady Elonia! He wanted to cancel the bid! I have reminded him of the consequences of canceling a bidding item, but he insisted!”

Elonia looked at her employee with a frown, then he looked at Tang Shaoyang. She would not blindly believe her employee. That was not something Tang Shaoyang’s status would do. But she still needed to hear the story from both sides.

Tang Shaoyang turned toward Elonia, shaking his head in disappointment, “I believe you have no part in this farce, but you truly need to check on your people in this establishment.”

He then motioned at Elnar to explain it to Elonia. Elonia’s face turned ugly when she heard the full story. It was not uncommon for the bidder to check the Beast Spirit’s condition. They would allow it despite their guarantee that all the Beast Spirits in the auction were in their prime condition.

“Is that true?” Elonia snapped at her employee.

“We believe they had an ulterior motive…” His voice was getting lower and lower, and he stopped when he realized it was not going to work in his favor.

“You wait there!” Elonia returned to the private room, then her voice transmitted to the whole hall, “I am very sorry for the interruption, but we have to delay the auction for 10 to 30 minutes because there’s an issue from our side. Once again, I apologize for the delay, but to ensure your comfort, the delay is a must. In compensation for your time, the Cladeos Emporium will offer you a ten percent cut for your next Beast Spirit purchase in our emporium.”

Elonia then immediately came out of the room, “Bring the Beast Spirit here right now!” Her voice was cold and full of authority.

The second attendant pushed the cart to Elonia, and she motioned for Elnar to check, “Can you please tell me what’s wrong with him?”

Elnar nodded, opening the cage gently. The Auspicious Mytherean was grumpy, but more than that, it was in defense mode and frightened. It scratched Elnar’s hand, who tried to reach it, but Elnar just let it be. Elnar caught the cat as it bit his hand.

“It’s okay~ It’s okay~ I am not here to harm you~” The Troll caressed the cat gently, but of course, the Beast Spirit struggled to break free, doing its best to get away, but it had no way to beat Elnar.

Elnar’s frown deepened as he checked the condition, and it was worse than he thought. Just as he thought it could not get worse, he found something worse. He kept in check his emotions, not to slap the attendant.

“It’s suffered fractures on its three legs, and it hasn’t fully healed yet. There was a deep cut on this side. You can still feel it,” Elnar showed the side for Elonia to touch.

The half-elf reached the Auspicious Mytherean’s right belly side, and as Elnar said, she felt the bulging scar on that side. It was healed, but it was a scrappy heal to leave such a scar, and it was sure to lower the value of the Auspicious Mytherean.

“That’s not the worst one, Lady Elonia,” Elnar faced the cat toward Elonia, “Move your right hand to his left eye.”

She followed and found out that the Auspicious Mytherean’s left eye did not react to her hand movement. However, the cat’s right eye followed her hand. The cat’s left eye was blind.

“The hunter accidentally hurt its left eye, but it failed to heal it in time. The healing restores the wound, but he would forever lose his left eyesight.”

Elonia rushed toward the attendant in charge, but Tang Shaoyang caught her, “You can solve your problem however you want, but don’t use violence in front of my daughters.”

Cecil was hiding behind her mother while Tang Xiulan, Li Jiaying, and Li Yue kept looking at the Auspicious Mytherean with a sad look after hearing the diagnosis from Elnar.

Elonia took a deep breath and calmed herself, forced to calm down. Then she bowed ninety degrees toward Tang Shaoyang, “I am really, really sorry this happened to you, Sir. I will compensate you for your trouble and ensure you will get the item you bid.”

Then she turned toward Elnar, “Can you hold the Auspicious Mytherean for the time being? I need to resolve this problem to ensure this would never happen again.”

Elnar was glad to take care of the Auspicious Mytherean. It calmed down in his hand; in fact, it tried to hide in his chest. He nodded and entered the room without the cage.

“Thank you for your understanding and your help, Sir.”

She then walked away from the room, “You two follow me!” She left with the two employees.
