Even Xiao Hei and Xiao Bai did not have the courage to face Bai Meiyue’s wrath. They brought these little snakes here because they wanted them to take care of the little infant, but they never expected that these three would feed the little one with their essence. What if something went wrong? They were quite lucky that the brat was strong enough to deal with the poison hidden in the essence, or else they would be skinned alive by Bai Meiyue.

The two of them looked at one another and then decided to sneak out of the clinic for the time being. They would deal with everything else later on, lest Bai Meiyue kill them in her apoplectic rage.

The five sneaky figures ran out of the clinic before Bai Meiyue could wake up. And by the time she was awake, there was no one in the room. She frowned hard. For a second, she was sure that she had heard a lot of hissing and squeaking, as if a bunch of beasts were running amok inside the clinic, which was why she was in a hurry to wake up.

But now that she was up, there was nothing.

Bai Meiyue stirred on the bed and then arched her arms over her head. Stifling a yawn, she climbed down from the bed and walked over to the cot where her son was lying. Her gaze fell on the crying baby calmly but soon it turned alarmed. She noticed that her son, who was lying alone in the cot, was actually looking rather pale, and his lips were turning blue.

This—was her son poisoned?

Bai Meiyue was startled by her own thoughts and reached out to pick up her son from the crib, but as soon as she picked him up, she could not help but frown again. Her son was breathing calmly, and his temperature was also normal. She checked his vitals with the help of her supernatural ability, and sure enough, he was perfectly normal.

What was this? Did his lips turn blue because he was crying so much?

Having no idea what was happening, Bai Meiyue sighed. She took her son to the armchair and then opened the zip of the dress that she was wearing and started breastfeeding her son. Unlike the last time, she already knew how to unclog her nipples, including how to make the baby latch onto her bosom. Thus, she did not have any trouble while breastfeeding.

The little one settled down contentedly.

Outside the clinic, Lei Qian, who had finally found the milk powder, returned with the milk bottle. He had no idea what happened in the clinic either.

"Here, little ancestor. This is the milk that your dearest grandmother has prepared for you—"

Lei Qian pushed open the door with his shoulder while juggling the nappies and the milk powder boxes along with the milk bottle.

But then he saw the sight in front of him.

"You are awake?"

Bai Meiyue: "..."

"I should be the one asking you this." Bai Meiyue hugged Bai Cai, and while breastfeeding, she looked at Lei Qian, who rushed inside the clinic. She glanced at his sorry state and could not help but smile. The poor man looked far worse than he did when he was awakening.

The sun was shining brightly outside the window, and the atmosphere was just right. A gust of wind blew in, and the white curtains of the clinic were lifted by the wind. The fragrance of the flowers and the greenhouse, as well as the wet soil, came into the clinic.

Lei Qian, who was standing at the threshold of the clinic, turned red-eyed when he realised that he was not dreaming and Bai Meiyue was really sitting in front of him. He took a few tentative steps toward her and then knelt down in front of her. "You are finally awake."

He was quite glad that Bai Meiyue was awake. Even though he always believed that he could take care of their son on his own, the reality soon smacked him in the face. He realised that it was quite difficult for him to take care of their son alone. In just a few hours, this little devil nearly brought him, his father, to his knees. Now Lei Qian would never be so foolishly optimistic, thinking that he could actually take care of Little Cai on his own.

"You seem tired." Bai Meiyue did not say anything in response to his sentimental greeting. Instead, she calmly assessed him head to toe and said in a light-hearted voice, "It’s as if you were hounded by some demon."

Lei Qian: "..."

If he were not scared of offending Bai Meiyue, he would have told her that he was indeed hounded by a demon. He looked down at the little guy, who was now sucking on Bai Meiyue’s breast without making a fuss. He looked soft and serene as if an angel had descended on earth. Could this brat be compared to the one who was screaming and yelling earlier? Of course not. Lei Qian suddenly felt that he was being subjected to the children’s favouritism, and he did not like it one bit.

It was this guy’s first day in this world, and he was already picking favourites.

He stretched out his hand and poked the cheek of the little guy somewhat resentfully. This little guy, he was lucky that he was just born, or else he would have smacked him on the bottom for giving him hell just now.

"What’s the matter?" When Bai Meiyue saw that Lei Qian was glaring at their son as if he were a wronged wife, she could not help but ask.

"It’s nothing." He stretched out his big hand and hugged Bai Meiyue; as soon as he hugged her, he could not help but bury his head in the crook of her neck to breathe in her milky scent. "Don’t talk about it; as long as you and our son are safe, everything is fine."
