Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies
Chapter 895: Bai Cai: Little Momma
Bai Meiyue pursed her lips and continued to channel her spiritual energy into the whirlpool that started to get smaller. With Lei Qian helping her, she slowly controlled her bleeding. Her face was still pale as ever; however, this time around she looked serene instead of troubled. Lei Qian watched her breathing even and heaved a sigh of relief.
"You can sleep now."
Indeed, that was all she wanted to do at that very moment. Bai Meiyue felt like she had gone through hell and back. It was like she had not slept for ages; the last time she felt this peaceful was when she was a child, when she had nothing to worry about. No chasing after fame, no chasing after peace —no working hard until she collapsed, all because she wanted to stock up on some supplies.
Now all she wished to do was to go back to sleep. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂
She wondered if the child would be safe without her. But she felt so tired that she could not even open her eyes, even if she wanted to.
She hoped that in her absence, Lei Qian would be able to take care of their son.
What she did not know was that as soon as she fell asleep, a weasel and a snake came looking for her. The two of them looked at Bai Meiyue, who seemed weaker than usual and turned to look at the infant who was crying at the top of her lungs. The two of them had no idea what was wrong with Bai Meiyue, but they knew that her baby was weak and needed protection.
The weasel turned to look at the snake, who looked back at him. The two of them suddenly came to a conclusion: they must do something or else the child would be harmed. The two of them knew that infants were the weakest in every species. So what if this child was a human? He must be just as weak.
With that thought, the two of them hurried out of the clinic.
Bai Meiyue had no idea what was going on; she continued resting as if she had been awake for ages, and maybe she had, because she never slept when she was looking for Bai Cai and when Bai Meiyue woke up in her second life, she was always in a hurry to collect as many supplies as possible. She had never gotten a chance to rest.
But it was as if she was destined to be riddled with trouble; she suddenly started dreaming about her son becoming a mother to three children. Because of this dream, she could not sleep in peace and kept frowning. It was all because she dreamed that these three children were not human at all! No, why was her son a mother in the first place? He was a boy.
At the same time it was as if someone was playing a radio that had a rather bad frequency. She could hear voices that were getting slow and loud every now and then. She had no idea why they were making so much fuss and not taking care of Bai Cai, who was crying so pitifully. She then heard Lei Qian’s voice as he begged their son to stop crying, telling him that his grandparents would be right back.
"Don’t cry, don’t cry, little ancestor. Your grandparents went to bring you a change of clothes as well as milk powder. Why are you crying like the world is coming to an end? Just wait for a while."
Was he being serious? Was he really telling a baby to be patient?
"You little one, can you care about me a little? You cry when you want to cry and you stop crying when you do not want to cry; I am the one suffering here."
Lei Qian rocked his son left and right in hope that he would stop crying but it was as if the little one was bent on making him suffer. Seeing that the crying was getting inconsolable, Lei Qian sighed deeply and placed the little boy in the small cot that Bai Meiyue had prepared earlier. He then went to look for Yan Wanning.
Everyone also went to their posts, while Shen Zhen went to her villa to rest.
Xiao Cai, who was left alone in the crib, could only cry at the top of his lungs.
It was the next morning after Bai Meiyue gave birth to Bai Cai and the two of them were still in the clinic. As for why the milk powder was missing? It was due to the increased usage at the hospital. Yan Wanning went to look for the packages of milk powder at home because she knew that Bai Meiyue had kept some in extra.
While everyone was worrying about Xiao Cai, five sneaky figures slithered inside of the clinic. Two of them were Xiao Hei and Xiao Bai, while the other three were the snakes that Master Ning had hatched. The three green snakes looked exactly the same except for the king snake, who had golden lining across the scales. He stared down at the baby who was crying when Xiao Hei reached out and smacked him on the back of his neck.
Hiss.
Do something; we brought you here because we wanted you to protect the infant.
The king snake that was slapped at the back of the head was speechless. He turned to look at the big snake that had slapped him and hissed at him.
I am the king of snakes; you better not touch me.
In response to his threat, Xiao Hei simply smacked him again.
Reliasing that he had no way out, the king snake looked at his two underlings. The three of them slithered closer to the infant and paused when they noticed the familiar scent that came from the food that they had eaten earlier. The scent from the baby was similar to the placenta that they had eaten earlier, which meant—
Momma!
At first the three snakes were a little hesitant to approach the baby, but after realising that it was the one who fed them, they suddenly had a ninety-degree turn and started to approach their mother with a new found pace. The three snakes came to a stop in front of the baby before spitting out drops of green liquid from their fangs. The glistening liquid fell into Xiao Cai’s mouth.
As soon as the liquid fell inside the boy’s mouth, he stopped crying. Instead, he smacked his lips and started crying again. What happened? Why did his food stop coming? He wanted to eat more.
When the three snakes saw that the newborn wanted to eat more, they were very embarrassed. They were still very young and could not create more of their essence. How could they even feed this baby until he was full? They thought that he was so young and he wouldn’t need that much essence but it seemed like it was not enough.
Just as they were wondering what to do, they saw the woman on the bed stir. The three of them were sentient beings and thus, they were aware of humans’ dislike toward them and given how protective a mother was toward her children, this woman would surely not like them.
Since that was the case they might as well —
