She narrowed her eyes.

"What do I expect? I was going to come across him too in the apocalypse since he’s Justin’s friend, but I never thought I’d come across this bastard so soon."

Ivy’s expression darkened.

Amos.

One of the most ruthless figures in the apocalypse.

The manager of Harmony Base.

"What should we do?" Darren was the first person to ask after a long silence, his eyes widening with curiosity.

"Let’s head inside too and, of course, attend to the injured soldiers," Ivy replied.

The rest nodded their heads in agreement before following Ivy inside.

The moment Ivy and the soldiers walked into the fifth-floor room, Amos stood in the middle of his soldiers while gently removing his mask. His face was finally revealed, exposing a scar that ran from his forehead down the right side of his face, passing close to his right eye before continuing all the way down to his jaw.

He had an eye patch attached over his right eye since he could no longer see through it. The scar had damaged the area badly, leaving only his left eye working perfectly.

Without wasting much time, he turned toward his soldiers and began treating them with whatever resources he had available, while the soldiers from Diamond Base and Fierce Hunter Base also stepped forward to help.

"I need a favor, Captain Ivy," Erick said, grabbing Ivy’s attention as he walked toward her.

"And what’s that, Commander Erick?" Ivy raised an eyebrow, curiosity flashing in her eyes.

"Oh, yeah. I need some food for Harmony Base. The guys need to eat, and the soldiers need food to keep working," Erick explained urgently. "Can you please just help them? Loan it to me, and I’ll return it."

"That’s not a problem, Commander Erick," Ivy replied with a heavy sigh, after which she led the way while Erick and Darren quickly followed behind her.

Soon, the remaining hot pot, along with some rice, was served to the members of Harmony Base. The moment the food was placed before them, the soldiers immediately began eating as though they had never seen a proper meal in their entire lives.

They devoured the food with such desperation that Ivy could not help but stare at them for a moment.

"They should calm down at least. The food isn’t running away," Darren murmured under his breath, his face filled with slight irritation as he stood beside Ivy.

"Calm down? Only heaven knows how long it has been since they had a proper meal," Erick replied with a light chuckle, his voice barely above a whisper. "Anyways, we should allow them to eat first and then see what they’re going to do later."

Ivy and Darren nodded their heads in response, their gazes settling on the exhausted soldiers.

After what felt like forever, the members of Harmony Base were soon done eating, after which the soldiers proceeded to wash all the dishes.

Amos remained seated, casually picking his teeth with the toothpick Erick had given him. He looked completely unfazed, his posture relaxed despite the dangerous situation they were currently in and the terrifying monsters still surrounding Clothing City.

"I wonder why they’re being given special treatment, though. I mean, they’re survivors we saved by allowing them inside Clothing City, but look at them acting arrogant, like they deserve the special treatment when they don’t deserve shit," Darren voiced out, his voice barely above a whisper but filled with annoyance. His gaze remained fixed on the members of Harmony Base, clearly displeased by the way they had behaved since entering the city.

"It’s not special treatment, though," Erick replied immediately, heaving a heavy sigh as he placed his hands on his waist in frustration. "There’s no need to give them another batch of food when the hot pot still remains. Besides, we didn’t give them the portions we all had earlier. We gave them the leftovers, which they all managed to finish."

Erick glanced toward Darren as if trying to make him understand the situation.

"Thank you for the food," Amos soon said, his words directed toward Erick and Ivy.

Ivy and Erick both acknowledged him with a nod, their hands folded over their chests as they listened to what he had to say next.

"Would you be willing to cooperate with me to counterattack this Clothing City before the monsters get fully evolved?" Amos asked, his voice calm but carrying an undeniable seriousness. His gaze swept across everyone in the room before settling on Ivy. "Or do you all think being able to escape to Diamond Base like before will be possible again? Do you think it’ll be as easy as the first time?"

His expression became more solemn as he continued speaking.

"You’re only able to escape easily because, obviously, the monsters here are all baby monsters. But the growth of baby monsters is much faster than that of a human baby. A day is like a month for a baby monster."

The moment Amos finished speaking, the atmosphere around them became noticeably heavier. Everyone understood what his words meant. The monsters they had encountered today might still be young, but they would not remain that way forever.

"I plan to clear all the monsters and obtain the city’s resources. Otherwise, humanity will perish," Amos added, his tone becoming even more serious. "There are so many resources to obtain from here, and if we want to get them, we need cooperation."

His eyes swept across the room once again, making it clear that he wasn’t simply making a casual suggestion. He had already thought about the situation carefully and seemed determined to take advantage of the resources within Clothing City before the monsters became too powerful to deal with.

"We can’t keep running away every time we encounter them," Amos continued, his voice low but firm. "If we want to survive in the long run, we need to eliminate the threat before it grows beyond our control. That’s why I’m asking for your cooperation."

"I think I agree with you," Ivy replied, seriousness etched into her tone, prompting Erick and Darren to turn their gazes toward her in confusion.
