Apocalypse: Rebirth With An Infinite Storage System
Chapter 285 Harmony base.
She had fired at the monsters surrounding the convoy, clearing a path for the vehicles to continue moving.
One of the vehicles had been completely surrounded.
"It’s stuck!" a soldier shouted.
"Don’t stop!" another soldier immediately yelled. "Keep going!"
The soldiers from both Diamond Base and Fierce Hunter Base were already rushing out to help.
They couldn’t simply watch the convoy get swallowed by the monsters.
"Move!"
"Clear the road!"
"Cover the vehicle!"
The soldiers charged forward, firing continuously at the creatures.
Suddenly....
Whoosh!
An arrow flew past them.
One of the soldiers barely managed to duck.
"What the...."
BOOM!
The arrow struck one of the vehicles directly.
A massive explosion erupted.
The force of the blast sent debris flying in every direction.
"Watch out!"
The people nearby immediately ducked as flames engulfed the wreckage.
The heat from the explosion briefly pushed back the surrounding cold air.
Several monsters were thrown away by the impact, while others were caught directly in the flames.
"There are too many!" one of the soldiers yelled, his voice filled with panic and frustration.
A soldier gritted his teeth as he looked at the burning vehicle.
"Leave the damaged vehicle!" he ordered. "We don’t have time!"
The order was brutal but necessary.
If they stopped now, the remaining vehicles would also be surrounded.
"Keep moving!"
The remaining vehicles accelerated immediately.
Their engines roared as the drivers pushed forward, desperately trying to create as much distance as possible between themselves and the monsters.
But they hadn’t gone far when one of the soldiers suddenly looked behind them.
His eyes widened.
"Wait!"
He pointed toward the road they had just crossed.
"They’re still back there!"
Several wounded soldiers were lying behind them.
Some were barely moving.
Others were attempting to crawl toward the convoy while monsters continued closing in around them.
"We can’t leave them!"
One soldier shouted.
The driver hesitated.
They were already surrounded.
Going back could put everyone at risk.
But the soldiers in the rear vehicle didn’t hesitate for long.
"Stop the vehicle!"
The vehicle came to a sudden halt.
Without hesitation, several people jumped down.
"Grab them!"
Two soldiers immediately rushed toward the wounded men.
One of the injured soldiers groaned as they lifted him from the ground.
"Easy! We’ve got you!"
"Pull him up!"
"There’s another one over there!"
Another pair of soldiers rushed toward a second wounded soldier.
They grabbed him beneath the arms and dragged him toward the vehicle while monsters continued approaching from behind.
"Faster!"
"Move!"
"Pull them in!"
The soldiers lifted the injured men onto the back of the vehicle.
"Grab his legs!"
"I’ve got him!"
"Pull!"
With one final effort, they dragged the wounded soldiers inside.
"Everyone, get in!"
The soldiers quickly climbed into the vehicle themselves.
"Go! Go!"
The driver immediately slammed his foot onto the accelerator.
The vehicle sped forward once again while monsters chased after them, pounding against the armored body as the convoy raced down the road, their terrifying roars echoing through the snowy landscape.
"Hold on!"
Another explosion erupted behind them.
The blast sent several monsters flying into the air, clearing a temporary path for the convoy to speed through.
"There’s the city!" someone shouted.
Everyone immediately turned their eyes forward.
Beyond the snow-covered road stood the massive walls of Clothing City, towering above them like a fortress.
"Let’s go through the back door!" one of the soldiers shouted.
Immediately, Ivy and Albert ran down the stairs and quickly opened the back door of Clothing City, allowing all the soldiers trapped outside to rush inside. And just before the monsters could run after them...
Bang!!!
The moment the last few soldiers stumbled through the entrance, the metal door slammed shut behind them.
Several soldiers immediately began panicking when they saw the monsters gathering outside. The creatures slammed their massive bodies against the metal door repeatedly, causing the entire entrance to shake violently.
Just as everyone feared that the monsters would eventually break down the door if care was not taken, Ivy’s system was already doing its work in the background, protecting the metal door with a powerful protective shield.
"They’re going to break down the door," one of the soldiers, whose injuries were terribly severe and who was already vomiting blood, said as he stared at the door with fear in his eyes. "We’re all going to die."
"No one is going to die," Ivy replied before anyone else could say anything. She glanced around at the injured soldiers before continuing, "If you all really want to stay alive, then you’d better leave and start treating yourselves. The monsters will eventually leave once they realize they can’t get inside."
"It’s you. Thank goodness you made it here safely."
Justin’s voice suddenly rang out as he approached a slightly middle-aged man. However, the man’s entire face was covered by a mask, leaving almost nothing visible.
Instead of responding to Justin, the man simply walked past him with his other soldiers, completely ignoring him.
Justin swallowed hard.
"Don’t mind him. That’s how he behaves whenever he’s stressed," Justin said as he turned to address Ivy, Darren, Erick, and the others who had helped make sure the rescue soldiers got inside safely. "I’ll go and talk to him. He’s my friend, after all."
With that, Justin immediately followed after the masked man.
"Amos?" Ivy raised an eyebrow and let out a scoff, her gaze remaining fixed on the masked man as she folded her arms across her chest in disbelief. "I mean, that’s the only friend Justin has in the apocalypse, after all. And even the aura of this man is exactly like Amos."
