Their car sped across the highway without much trouble.

When they encountered sections of the highway which were blocked by cars which had piled up, Alex alighted and stored the cars into his storage space.

The fuel and items that were inside them would be useful to them since their owners were no longer around.

Alex did this a few times until he encountered a pileup where the bodies of the drivers and some mutated beasts were still around.

It was a perfect scene for him to try and use his new ability on these bodies.

He made use of the opportunity and raised his hands at the pile of vehicles that was in front of him.

A dark glow appeared on his hands and they started to extend out of it into glowing threads.

These threads extended towards the bodies of the dead human beings and mutated beasts.

When the threads got near to them, they wriggled into the bodies of the dead human beings and mutated beasts, through their wounds and rotten skin for some of them.

The threads spun into the bodies continuously.

Then, the threads dissipated and the bodies started to move uncontrollably.

The dead men stood up and they lined up neatly.

As for the mutated beasts, they crawled on their four limbs and they also stood stationary in a square formation.

They were in front of Alex when he had used his ability to make them stand in such a manner.

"What the hell, Alex?! Another new surprise for us?" Riley said and he got close to the dead men and mutated beasts that were standing oddly in order.

Terry and Brian also came over to check on what was happening.

The dead men looked dead but somehow they were able to be standing and moving under the orders of Alex.

"So you can use them for free labor now?" Terry pointed at one of the dead men and asked.

Alex shook his head and said, "It takes up my energy to make them move, like your abilities."

Thankfully, his energy was in abundance and handling them wasn’t too much of an issue.

"So, are they dead?" Terry frowned and asked, trying to figure out the state that these dead men and mutated beasts were in.

"Take it as they are undead." Alex replied and Terry’s question gave him an idea.

A slit appeared and it opened into a portal in front of the dead men and mutated beasts, who were standing neatly as if they were formed up on a parade square.

Terry gasped when he saw the dead bodies and mutated beasts start walking and crawling, one by one, towards the storage portal that had opened up.

It worked.

Miraculously, they were able to walk into the storage space.

Alex was pleasantly surprised that it worked.

This undead army of his wouldn’t use up any of his energy when they were inside his storage space.

And since they were inside it, they would be easily transported and made to appear together with him.

In theory, if he had enough undead beings stored inside his storage space, he would have an unlimited army.

The only thing that wasn’t perfect for him at the moment was that the undead beings he had now were only made up of normal bodies and Stage I mutated beasts.

He might have to try and build up something that would be much more powerful than what he had now when they get into the city.

"Come, let’s go." Alex said to Riley, Terry and Brian with this thought in mind.

They shrugged at what was happening and they got back into the car.

By now, they were used to seeing Alex having a new ability every few days.

Alex followed behind them and got into the car.

Vroom.

The engine started once again, and they continued on their journey towards the city.

As their car approached the city, men standing on top of the buildings got excited.

"Finally! Some prey for us to earn some rewards from Lieutenant Langley." One of the men with tattooed arms put down the binoculars he had in his hands and said.

There were other men standing behind him who came over and asked, "How many of them?"

"Only a car."

"A car? What? Who in the right mind would drive into the city alone?" They couldn’t comprehend why someone was so brave or stupid to do something like this.

Who do they think they are?

The city was infested with criminals like them now.

And some of them had gained myriads of abilities since the Apocalypse happened.

"I don’t think we are in the position to be complaining.

"We could go out of the city to do what Lieutenant Langley wants us to do, but you and I know that it’s safer in here than going out there to be killed by the mutated beasts out there.

"Those who are inside the car should fetch us some food and water from Lieutenant Langley." The man with the binoculars said and the others nodded their heads at him.

"What are we waiting for? Let’s get them!" The others said and they quickly moved away from where they were.

Down the building, there were men and women gathered around together.

Most of them sat on the ground or lay on the ground.

Doing otherwise would use up more energy and they were so hungry.

When the men came down from the top of the buildings, they glanced at the men, wondering what they were so excited about.

"Get up! Time to do some work!" The men with the binoculars shouted and the others slowly sat up.

"Work? What do you mean by that, Bernard."

The men with binoculars, Bernard, twitched his mouth and shouted, "A bunch of idiots coming into the city alone.

"If we capture them, we can get the food and water as promised by Lieutenant Langley."

That got the men excited and they quickly stood up.

Among them, those who were Awakened moved even faster than the rest.

"Don’t make any move until I say so! Get into positions now!" Bernard shouted and tried to rein those who were Awakened in.
