Apocalypse: My SSS Ability Changes Every Few Days
Chapter 94: Destination
Fortunately, the other students who were on alert in the buses weren’t hurt.
No other mutated beasts had attacked them while Alex took care of the mutated toad.
Maybe the presence of the Stage IV mutated toad had made the other mutated beasts that were at a lower stage of mutation run away from it.
And it was a blessing for Alex if that was so.
But Alex didn’t have the time or enough clues to figure it out now.
He walked over to the buses and headed towards the bus where Teresa was.
"Teresa, do you think the tissue left from the Stage IV mutated beast I killed would help with your research?" Alex asked, and Teresa glanced at him.
"Stage IV? It would definitely help." She nodded her head at him and said so.
Alex sighed and walked back towards the crater he had created, hoping that there were some tissues of the mutated toad lying around.
Thankfully, there were indeed some that had splattered out into the surroundings earlier.
He waved his hand across the ground where the tissues were, and they disappeared in the next moment.
They had been stored in his storage space.
Alex and his friends got back onto the buses, and they continued on their journey.
As the buses went past the crater that Alex had created with his lightning prison, the others gasped when they saw up close what Alex could do with his ability.
The feeling that Alex was an Awakened or something more struck them much more deeply.
All of them could only thank the heavens that they were with him, and not against him.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t have known how to even survive a second if they had to face him in combat.
Thankfully, it wasn’t so, and they gazed at the distance as the buses continued on their way to the hydroelectric dam.
They traveled for a few hours, stopping in between for rest and lunch, before they continued again.
In total, it took them four hours to cross the rest of the canyon and get out of it.
Then they finally reached the last stretch of the journey before they would reach the hydroelectric dam.
Beside the road they were on was a huge swath of fields with crops standing tall in the summer sun.
Alex glanced at the fields and tried to see if the houses in the distance had anyone in them.
If he could make a deal with the owners of these fields, there wouldn’t be too much of an issue having grain and corn in the future.
And even if there wasn’t anyone left around, he would then need to seek help from Patricia with her ability.
"Stop and wait for us," Alex said to the person driving the bus he was on.
The person stopped, and the other buses following behind also stopped.
Alex picked up his walkie-talkie, pressed the button on it, and said, "Come with me to see if there are any farmers around in their homes."
"Fine," Riley, Terry, and Brian replied, and they alighted from their respective buses. ℯℯ𝘭.
They had been used to doing so by now, and they were eager to get it over and done with so that they could settle down as soon as possible.
Alex led them across a field, and it was only them and the crops, which were as tall as they were.
However, not only were there no signs of mutated beasts, there were no signs of other human beings nearby either.
They got to a house, and Alex sensed for any dangers before he opened the door.
Creak.
The door creaked open, and inside it was empty.
Furniture, utensils, and other items were in place, and there didn’t seem to be any signs of a battle having occurred.
He moved on to check the barn next to the house.
Inside the barn, the livestock, grain, and equipment were still there.
Alex tried to look around for trucks or any other vehicles, but he couldn’t see any.
He decided to move on to the next house at the other end of the fields.
It was the same.
There was no one around, and everything was intact except for the vehicles.
The owners of these fields must have moved to the quarantine area, thinking it would be safer for them over there.
Alex could only activate his plan to make use of Patricia’s ability now.
But it would have to wait.
His priority was to get everyone settled in the hydroelectric dam first.
"I guess they’re all gone. Let’s get back to our bus and head for the hydroelectric dam next," Alex said, and his friends nodded their heads.
They couldn’t wait.
All of them got back on the buses, and the engines started again.
The buses got through the fields without any issues, and they finally turned onto the road that led to the hydroelectric dam.
When Alex saw the hydroelectric dam in the distance, he let out a long sigh of relief.
The long journey here had also been tedious for him, and he was glad that it would be over soon.
As the buses entered the compound of the hydroelectric dam, the fences were locked, but that wasn’t something that could deter Awakened like Alex and his friends.
They unlocked the fences and any barriers after it to let the buses enter the compound of the hydroelectric dam.
Everyone stretched their bodies as they alighted from the buses.
Alex and his friends went on to make a sweep of the workers’ dormitories and the other buildings of the hydroelectric dam.
When they came back, they brought good news with them.
"Everything seems to be working well, there’s even electricity and running water in the dormitories," Alex said, and the other students gave a cheer.
It had been so long since they’d gotten to enjoy such modern conveniences.
The long and treacherous journey they’d made here was well worth the effort to them.
