Apocalypse: My SSS Ability Changes Every Few Days
Chapter 95: Another Beginning
Next day.
After a good night’s rest, everyone was gathered together in a hall that used to be the dining area for the workers in the hydroelectric dam.
Pamphlets about the quarantine area could be seen on the floor, presumably what had made the workers of the hydroelectric dam leave this place.
In the dining area, the long tables and benches were still around, and the students sat on the benches.
Everyone’s mood was jovial, with a smile on their faces.
They chattered among each other, talking about what happened and how the night with power and water from the tap was.
After such a long journey, they had finally reached a place where they could settle in comfortably once again, like how it was in the dorm building previously.
They were still chattering when Alex and his friends appeared in front of them.
When the students saw him, they kept quiet and waited for what Alex had to say.
All of them wondered about the things they had to do next.
It didn’t take them too long to find out.
Alex glanced around at them and said, "I hope you had a great rest last night.
"This will be our stronghold from now on, but before it is really safe for us here, there are many things for us to accomplish first."
Everyone listened in silence and nodded their heads.
So far, listening to and acting on Alex’s instructions had been the right way forward.
They were in on what he had planned for them.
Alex continued and said, "First, Eddy will lead those in mechanical, electronics, and electrical engineering to maintain and manage the core equipment of the hydroelectric dam.
"Next, Patricia, gather a team and start speeding up the growth of the crops in the fields."
He had confirmed with Patricia that the first experimental batch using her ability to speed up growth was successful.
The crops from the experiment weren’t poisonous or abnormal in any way.
Fortunately, they were safe for consumption.
Alex glanced over at David, who was with the other medical students, and said, "There’s a medical center over on the left; see if you and your team can set it up."
David nodded his head at him and said, "I will try my best."
Lastly, Alex turned around towards Teresa and her research team.
He glanced at her and said, "I have cleared out a place to be set up as your research lab.
"But I would need your help figuring out how to get everything set up."
"Thanks," Teresa said, giving out a long sigh.
It wouldn’t be as good as the research lab in the College of Technology, but it was the best she could get right now.
Alex instructed Terry, Brian, and Riley to take care of the defenses for the hydroelectric dam with their abilities before he led her and her research team to the place he had earmarked as the research lab.
It was a huge, empty area that had been used as storage before the workers at the hydroelectric dam took everything with them and left.
Alex had placed the machines from Teresa’s lab in it, together with the devices he had gotten from the quarantine area.
"How is this possible? You have this... Oh my God?!" Teresa ran over to one of the devices from the quarantine area and slowly placed her hands onto it, as if she were caressing something precious.
And the device indeed was.
"This device is worth hundreds of millions, and there were only five of them in the country.
"It would have been impossible to get funding from the board to get one of these to further my research.
"But now, one of them is right in front of me, just like a dream come true before my eyes."
She stopped herself when she saw Alice looking at her strangely.
Teresa pulled her hands back from the device and quickly composed herself.
Alex was glad to hear what she said, and he let out a sigh of relief.
"There are some consumables that I’ve gotten from the quarantine area too, but I don’t know anything about them, so you’ll have to see if they’re good enough for you." He pointed to a corner of the area where boxes of consumables were stacked up neatly together.
Teresa couldn’t believe her luck again when she saw the boxes and the labels showing what was inside them.
There were filters, replacement parts, solutions, and many other things necessary for running her research.
It was perfect for her to continue with what she was doing.
"All of you, get the devices connected and set up, so we can get back to work as soon as possible," Teresa instructed her research team, and they got to work immediately. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Alex took out the syringe he had gotten from Lieutenant Lee and said, "This is what one of the soldiers tried to inject into himself when he got cornered.
"Maybe you can help figure out what it does.
"The Elite Awakened Special Ops unit has some research of their own, so it would be better if we knew what they are up to."
"I will take care of it," Teresa said, taking the syringe.
Then she turned around and got to work helping the others set up the devices.
Alex left to check on what Riley, Terry, and Brian were doing next.
He saw them at the fences and walked over to them.
There were metallic walls standing tall before the fences, with Terry using his ability to create them.
"Are you sure these metallic walls are good enough? They couldn’t even withstand the purple tongue of the mutated toad earlier." Riley teased Terry, and Terry ignored him, giving him a roll of his eyes.
Brian, who was busy setting up the CCTVs and trying to get into the computer system, shook his head at the two of them.
"I see that you are still busy," Alex said, joining them.
He glanced around at the whole area, and things were starting to look like how it was back at the dorm building again.
