Chapter 117: Battle!

The guards turned and glanced at General Xavier, who was at the other end of the command center, and they raised their weapons to aim at him.

“Get them!” General Xavier shouted, and one of the Lieutenants lunged at them.

The Lieutenant’s body turned into a metallic form and his hands changed into flexible metallic spikes, before they extended out towards the guards.

Many more flexible metallic spikes extended out from his body, making him look like a porcupine, and the numerous flexible metallic spikes also came at the guards with tremendous speed.

Thud.

The metallic spikes thrust through the bodies of the guards, but the guards didn’t stop in pain and they continued what they were doing earlier.

Bang!

They fired at General Xavier and one of the guards of General Xavier stood in front of him and unleashed an energy shield in front of him.

Splatter.

The flexible metallic spikes coiled around the bodies of the guards and they ripped the bodies of the guards apart, making the innards splatter all over.

However, with the guards taken care of, it was not over yet.

A few storage portals appeared out of nowhere and a dozen undead Awakened came out from the storage portals.

“What’s happening?!”

“Is everything alright?”

“Where did they come from?”

The researchers who were busy were in panic when they saw some of the undead Awakened appear in their lab.

It was chaotic in the command center in a matter of a few seconds.

Alex had made use of this opportunity to turn into a speck of shadow and he moved towards General Xavier undetected.

“Stay calm and execute your drills!” The Lieutenants shouted, and they tried to get the staff that was in the command center to react calmly.

But it was tough for them to do so.

Fireballs, icicles, and wind blades wreaked havoc on the equipment in the command center from the undead Awakened of Alex.

The Awakened teams took them on but they were impervious to pain and they had a difficult time getting rid of them.

Things got worse for them when Riley, Terry and Brian appeared.

Thunk.

When the flexible metallic spikes from the Lieutenant came at Terry, a metallic wall appeared and blocked the flexible metallic spikes.

Before the Lieutenant could make his next move, a shadow covered his body and he lifted his head to see what was happening.

A huge metallic block had descended from above and it forced the Lieutenant to quickly leap away.

He wanted to make his next attack when he got to safety, but Terry wasn’t done yet.

Terry’s body had turned into a metallic form and he came at the Lieutenant with a kick to his head.

Thunk!

A loud metallic ring could be heard when Terry’s kick landed on the head of the Lieutenant.

The Lieutenant’s head swung violently to the side from the impact and his head, which was metallic, was deformed right away.

“Argh!” Holding his head, which was now like a crescent moon, the Lieutenant gave out a cry of pain and his metallic form slowly dissipated due to the damage from Terry.

His vision slowly turned dark and the last thing he saw was a huge metallic block coming down onto him.

Meanwhile, the other two Lieutenants left in the command center also joined in the fray.

One of them opened his mouth and a torrent of insects came out from his mouth, and the insects flew towards Brian.

Brian raised his hands and pillars of flames rose from the ground.

The pillars of flames surrounded him and the flames burnt the insects into charred bodies.

Then, the pillars of flames started to move towards the Lieutenant.

The Lieutenant raised his hands at Brian and another torrent of insects came out of nowhere and they flew towards Brian from the top this time.

Meteors made up of huge fireballs appeared in the air on top of Brian and they burnt the insects into ashes again.

Brian also took the opportunity to unleash more of his pillars of fire towards the Lieutenant.

And right now, the pillars of fire had already surrounded the Lieutenant, leaving him no space to get away.

He lifted his head and thought of jumping to the ceiling to escape the pillars of fire, but his heart sank when he saw meteors of fireballs appear right on top.

Blocking his only way out.

As all the flames surrounding him got closer and closer, he could feel his skin starting to burn and his consciousness started to drift off from the lack of oxygen.

…

Riley, who was near Brian, was also dealing with the last of the Lieutenants.

The Lieutenant gave out a roar and his form started to turn into a beast-like form, with scales appearing on his skin, and his head turned into something that looked more like a mix between a wolf and a tiger.

Whoosh.

The beast-like Lieutenant lunged at Riley with tremendous speed, but he had to change direction and leap to the side when bubbles appeared in the surroundings of Riley.

Using his hands, which had long claws, the Lieutenant swiped his hands at a distance away from the bubbles.

Slicing waves shot out from his claws and they hit the bubbles.

Boom!

The bubbles exploded upon contact with the slicing waves.

Everything in the vicinity was destroyed by the explosion and the resulting shockwave also destroyed the other equipment that was further away.

Cough.

The Lieutenant coughed out a mouthful of blood after the shockwave devastated his innards and dropped to his knees.

He staggered slowly, trying his best to get back onto his feet.

But when he was finally done, he discovered that he was now inside a huge bubble.

His knees buckled when he thought about what the bubbles could do, and this time he was within such a huge bubble.

Fear and hopelessness overcame him and he could think of nothing else but his impending doom.

And he was right.

Boom!

When the huge bubble exploded, the whole command center shook and the ceiling on the story above started to cave in.
