Chapter 116: General Xavier

While this was going on, Alex and his friends advanced through the fences and they had gotten further into the compounds of Fort Ramsey.

Using their abilities, they took out all the power for the CCTV and they were able to get through whatever obstacles like concertina wires that were in their way.

When they got to the next observation post, Alex summoned more of his undead army from his storage space again.

This way, there would be panic as to where this undead army had come from.

It worked.

When these undead attacked the soldiers at the observation post, they were taken by surprise.

"Where did they come from? Impossible!" The soldiers didn’t have a clue but it was no time for them to dwell on it.

The few undead had unleashed a wave of wind blades, icicles and fireballs at them.

Boom.

Explosions ensued and it was the signal that Alex and his friends were waiting for.

They sneaked through the fence and headed further towards Fort Ramsey.

Along the way, they could hear and see the soldiers being activated with the alarm blaring.

Vehicles and soldiers started to move out from the fort.

Alex expected that the undead that he had summoned to distract them would most likely perish in the end but there weren’t many options for him.

They had surprisingly done their jobs much better than he had expected.

The sounds of firing and explosions were still going on.

Telling him that the undead Awakened were still able to carry out what he wanted them to do.

"Over there." Alex pointed at the side of the fort where the loading bay for logistics was.

Riley, Terry and Brian nodded their heads and they took cover among the barracks that was empty with the soldiers being activated.

Alex turned into a speck of shadow and he moved towards the loading bay.

There were a few soldiers on high alert scanning the horizon in the distance.

But little did they know that a shadow that was unnoticeable got close.

Then, out of nowhere an explosion sound could be heard in their ears.

Boom!

Alex used his Echo Resonant ability and the explosion sound stunned them for a moment.

He turned back into his human form and he destroyed the CCTVs by destroying the power cables.

And even before the guards could react, he lunged at them with tremendous speed.

Crack.

His fist landed on the head of one of the guards and it cracked the skull of the guard instantly.

The other guards couldn’t see what was happening in that split second and before they could make their move, Alex’s figure turned into a shimmer and came at them one after another.

With just a fist to their faces, he took them out in less than a second.

After he was done, he waved at Riley and the others.

His friends got out from their cover and they ran towards him.

Once they got there, it was time to get into the fort itself.

Even though the heavy doors were locked, it was not an issue.

Alex made the few guards part of his undead army.

The guards had the access so Alex commanded them to use their handprints and open it up.

Once the doors opened, they were now inside the fort.

"Hurry up! Get to your positions you slow maggots!"

"But sir, we don’t know what they are coming from yet."

"Don’t give me that shit, soldier. Just listen and do your job!"

In the distance, the soldiers were scurrying around trying to make sense of what was happening.

Alex and his friends stood behind the undead guards and they sneaked into the emergency stairs that would lead to the emergency exit of the underground facilities.

So far, everything was going well according to plan, but Alex knew that the tough battle was ahead inside the underground facility.

The Awakened soldiers and their teams would be there waiting for them.

But Alex wasn’t too worried about them as he had a huge surprise waiting for them too.

Finally, when they got to the emergency entrance of the underground facility, it wasn’t possible to use the guards to open it up anymore.

These guards didn’t have the necessary rights to do so.

It was time for Terry’s ability to be put to good use.

Terry placed his hand on the thick steel door and his hand started to give out a bright glow as he tried to change the form of the thick steel door.

The steel door started to wobble for a few moments before it started to deform into thin sheets of steel.

Terry wiped the sweat off his forehead and they started to move the sheets of steel out of the way.

After they were done, they got into the stairways and they started descending down towards level B20 where General Xavier and the researchers were.

It was relatively quiet inside the stairways compared to what was happening out there at the fort.

No one paid much attention to the emergency stairways and they were able to reach B20 without encountering anyone.

Alex and his friends got to the door of the emergency exit that led to the stairway where they were at, and they waited.

He let the guards open the door and walked into the command center quietly.

General Xavier was seated in his command post and the Lieutenants leading their Awakened teams were waiting for his instructions.

Not far away, the researchers were busy with their research and they ignored the commotion that was going on above.

"You and you, take your team to see what’s happening.

"I have a feeling that our old friend has come to pay us a visit." General Xavier clenched his fist and said.

The two Lieutenants gave him a salute and they led their team to the lift.

Ding.

After the lift door closed, these two Lieutenants and their team were transported to the fort within a few moments.

Then, there were only three Lieutenants and their teams left.

"Who are you? You are not supposed to be here!" General Xavier shouted and pointed at the guards when he saw them from the corner of his eyes.
