Apocalypse: My SSS Ability Changes Every Few Days
Chapter 115: Infiltration
"You are welcome to stay as you wish." Norton was still in astonishment but he quickly snapped out of it and said.
With the gigantic mutated bear gone, the townsfolk would be able to live in less fear.
That would be the case if they continued to stay here.
Now that he knew how powerful Alex and his friends were, the notion of the whole town moving to Alex’s stronghold seemed so much more enticing to him now.
All the townsfolk were honest and hardworking folks so he was confident that they would be able to settle in well and contribute to the operations of the stronghold.
"Thanks." Alex thanked him and Norton led them to one of the empty houses in the town.
"Let me know if you need anything. There will be guards patrolling throughout the night so don’t you worry about it." Norton said and left the house.
Alex figured that Norton had more or less accepted to move the whole town to the hydroelectric dam.
But that would have to wait first.
"Have a good rest and we shall discuss how to go about getting into Fort Ramsey later." Alex said to his friends and they nodded their heads.
He took out some bandages and antiseptic wipes, and gave them to them.
Thankfully, there wasn’t too much of a need for that.
Their wounds had mostly healed.
Terry went on and prepared dinner while the others washed up, changed into new clothes that Alex had in his storage space.
When dinner was done, they sat together and ate.
Alex took out the blueprints and glanced at them as he had his dinner.
Fort Ramsey was built years ago and it was like an ordinary fort from the nineties.
You wouldn’t know how deep it was unless you had the blueprints.
There were several observation posts and obstacles that they had to get through to get into the fort.
But there were also some entrances that were used for logistics and contractors that had to deliver supplies to the underground facilities.
Alex figured that he could cause a ruckus and distract the soldiers manning the observation posts while he and his friends sneaked in from these entrances.
He also went on to route the way to get to where General Xavier and the research center of the whole operation was.
After he was done, he placed the blueprints into the middle of the table and said, "So, this is what we shall do tomorrow..."
Riley, Terry and Brian listened while they had their meal.
They didn’t have much objections and they nodded their heads to what Alex had suggested.
Then, when dinner was over, they rested early and waited for the next day to arrive.
The night in the town was quiet, but it had a sense of serenity after such a long time after the Apocalypse happened.
Alex and his friends had helped to bring some hope to the townsfolk for their future.
...
Next day.
Alex and his friends woke up early, had a quick breakfast before they headed out.
"Wish you all the best." Norton and the other townsfolk were waiting for them by the car and he wished them well.
"Thanks. When we come back, we can discuss about moving the town over to our place." Alex said and Norton nodded his head vigorously.
After having said that, Alex and his friends got into the car and drove off.
Norton and the other townsfolk glanced at the car getting further and further away with some reluctance to see them go away.
Deep inside them, they wished that Alex and his friends could lead them to the new place as soon as possible to start with a new life.
However, they would have to wait for their return.
And all of them could only pray for it to happen while they were gone.
As the car traveled along the road, not much happened, except to take care of a few Stage I and Stage II mutated beasts.
It seemed to Alex that after the Stage V mutated beast was killed, these lower level mutated beasts started to appear.
Maybe they weren’t afraid anymore with the Stage V mutated beast gone and so, they were back to claim the wilderness.
He noted down this observation to see if it was useful for Teresa and her team.
Hopefully, with this and the tissues from the Stage V mutated beast, she and her team would be able to figure something out.
"We are getting closer." Riley said and the car slowed down.
The Fort was still a distance away, but they were near the first observation post.
Alex nodded his head and they got out of the car.
He put the car into the storage space and he pointed at the observation post set up by the side of the road.
A slit appeared and it opened up into a storage portal.
A few of his undead army stepped out from the portal and they stood there waiting for Alex’s instruction.
Alex used his ability to control them and they started running towards the observation post.
It was a simple plan but it was also the most effective, with the least possible factors for failure.
He and his friends also started to move towards Fort Ramsey but through the side of the observation post.
"Who goes there! Stop or we will fire!" When the soldiers manning the post saw the few undead approaching they shouted and warned them not to approach any further.
But the undead didn’t stop and they raised their hands at the observation post instead.
Amber glow appeared in their hands and in the next moment, dozens of fireballs shot out from their hands at the observation post.
Boom!
The fireballs hit and some explosions ensued.
Some of the soldiers got hurt and they started to open fire.
The commanding officer on duty quickly radioed back on what was happening.
"These guys won’t stay down!" The soldiers fired at the undead and they were astonished when their bullets hit but the undead didn’t drop to the ground.
These undead continued and advanced closer and closer.
