Norton wasn’t the same man anymore where he trusted the authorities after what had happened.

He wasn’t really sure what Alex wanted out of Fort Ramsey, but one thing that was sure for him was that Alex helped him with the food and water.

Even though this food and water would also run out very soon.

He let out a sigh and frowned slightly when he thought about the need to scavenge for more food and water again.

It would be a huge risk with how the mutated beasts were becoming and the others like him getting more desperate for food and water.

Norton knew that they might not be so lucky to meet someone like Alex next time.

Alex saw the worries in Norton’s eyes and he thought about it.

He might give it a try to let them join the hydroelectric dam since Norton and the town folks seemed like decent people so far.

But that would have to wait until he was back from Fort Ramsey.

"Have you thought about leaving this place?" He asked and Norton glanced out of the window for a moment before turning back to Alex.

"I did but we couldn’t go far.

"There’s a huge beast, at least a hundred meters tall, roaming around in the area.

"So far, it hasn’t come to the town yet, but it has decimated everything else within the vicinity.

"We encountered it before where it was one or two kilometers away, and we had to turn back before it saw us."

Norton said and lowered his head.

"Huge beast standing at a hundred meters?" Alex frowned and asked before turning his head to his friends and glancing at them.

They too were equally interested in it.

So far, they’d never dealt with such a mutated beast and they wondered if they could take it on.

Alex figured that it must have been a Stage V mutated beast and it might be useful for Teresa’s research if he could get some of the tissues of the mutated beast.

He didn’t know if he could kill the mutated beast but with his abilities he figured he could attempt to do so.

If things didn’t go too well with killing the mutated beast, he could then change his objective to just try and get the tissues of the mutated beast and retreat as soon as possible.

He also thought about the possibility of him making the mutated beast into one of the members of his undead army.

It would certainly come in handy when they sneak into Fort Ramsey to wreak havoc in it.

"Where does the mutated beast usually appear?" Alex turned back to Norton and asked.

"I’m not too sure but it is said to be seen near the rocky mountains over at the east side of the town." Norton pointed in the direction of the mountains and said.

"Thanks, we will try to get rid of it if we can." Alex nodded his head, leaned forward and asked, "And after that, we will make the trip to Fort Ramsey soon and when we come back through here, maybe you would like to consider joining us at our stronghold.

"We have electricity, a stable source of food and water.

"There’s even some medicine and medical professionals over there.

"All you need to do is join us and chip in with all the defense and daily operations work."

"Electricity, food, water..." Norton mumbled to himself and felt like it was a fairy tale to him.

It’s been so long since he was able to have such luxuries and the young man sitting opposite him was offering it to him.

Norton thought about it for a moment.

The thought of Alex being a charlatan crossed his mind at first.

But when he thought about Alex wanting to kill off the mutated beast, it would be rather unnecessary to lure him and the town folks to another place, if Alex had the means to kill the mutated beast.

Even going to Fort Ramsey and coming back alive was also a feat in itself.

So, Alex could have used force instead if he wanted to make Norton and the town folks move.

But since everyone else’s life was at stake, Norton thought that he had better play it safe.

"We will consider it if the huge mutated beast is taken care of..." Norton said and Alex understood what he was thinking about.

"I understand." Alex nodded his head and said.

He glanced out of the window and saw that it was still noon.

More than enough time to take care of the huge mutated beast before sunset.

"We will go to the east and try our luck with the huge mutated beast." Alex stood up and said.

Riley, Terry and Brian also did the same.

"So soon..." Norton was surprised by the execution speed of Alex.

When he saw how calm and composed Alex and his friends were, he figured that they must have done this many times before.

"Then, I wish you all the best." He led them to the door of his house and they headed straight back to their car.

Along the way, the town folks greeted Alex and his friends with a smile.

The food and water that they had gotten from Alex came at the most dire moment for them and they were more than grateful for it.

"Here, take this. I don’t have much left with me but it’s the best I can do."

"Thanks for the food and water... Take this too."

"Please, it would mean a lot to me if you take my gift in return."

Some of them tried to offer them whatever valuables like watches, necklaces or other jewelry they had left.

Alex let out a sigh and took them so that the town folks would feel better.

Riley, Terry and Brian were also showered with gifts and they also did the same.

They didn’t know what exactly they were feeling inside, but all they knew is that it felt great to be able to encounter folks like these town folks.

"Get in, we don’t have much time."

When they got to their car, Alex opened the door of the car and said.
