Alex waited for the other man to come back and it didn’t take too long.

The other man who went back into the town came back with a group of men and women that was around eighty people.

Some of them had firearms in their hands while a few of them seemed to be Awakened with their hands glowing, ready to take action if necessary.

Alex was, however, unfazed by what was happening. ℯ

They were outnumbered by him but they didn’t know it.

One of them, who had a head full of brown hair and a burly build, stepped forward and said, "I’m Norton. I heard you have something that you want to trade with us?"

Alex nodded his head and pointed at the opened up backpack on the ground.

The men and women who were with him gasped in excitement and opened their eyes wide when they saw what was inside the backpack.

Their supplies were running out and their scavenging missions out of town were yielding less and less supplies in the surroundings.

So, it had been a very long time since they had a decent meal.

Norton sighed as he glanced at what Alex had.

Although he was eager to trade with Alex, he didn’t have much on his side.

He glanced at Alex and his friends who were still in the car.

Seeing how confident they looked, he figured that they were Awakened, and most probably very powerful ones to be able to come into town with only the four of them.

Norton didn’t want to take his chances, as the town folks trusted him to keep them safe so far.

He was brought up to be upright and honor his word, so he didn’t want to go back on it.

"To be frank, I can’t give you much for those." Norton pointed at the backpack and said.

"But if you need our help with anything, we can do it for you as long as it isn’t something bad." He added and said.

It was the best he could offer.

There were a few Awakened among them, so he thought that it was the only thing that might be of interest to Alex.

Alex nodded his head and said, "It’s a deal but I would need more information about Fort Ramsey in addition to that."

He wasn’t really interested in the help from Norton.

Norton’s gesture was good enough for him to know that he and the town folks weren’t like the thugs and gang members he had encountered before.

They were still decent folks that he could work with.

Norton quickly nodded his head and said, "That’s not a big deal, I can tell you all I know about Fort Ramsey.

"In fact, I was one of the contractors working on it back in the day."

Alex couldn’t believe his luck when he heard what Norton had said.

He quickly went over to the car and placed his hands onto the trunk door.

Food, water, medicine and other supplies were taken out from his storage portal and were placed in the trunk of the car.

After this was done, he opened the trunk door and the town folk were even more excited when they saw the amount of food and water that was inside the trunk.

"Look, there’s also medicine!"

"Old Joe will need that for his high blood pressure."

"There’s also some mobile power banks."

Everyone had something they needed from it and they couldn’t wait to get the items.

Norton pointed at one of the houses that was near them and said, "Why don’t we talk inside the house? It’s not too safe out here."

He started to think about what other things he could do for Alex, as the amount of supplies was more than what he had expected.

But no matter how hard he thought about it, he couldn’t come up with anything else.

Fortunately, Alex didn’t seem too bothered by it.

He nodded his head at Norton and said, "You can let your men come over and take the supplies now."

The town folks glanced at Norton with wary eyes but they rushed over when Norton nodded his head at them.

While they carried the supplies back to the town, Norton led Alex and his friends to the house that he pointed at earlier.

"I apologize that I don’t have much to offer you." Norton said with an awkward smile while he offered them a seat at the dining table of the house.

Alex and his friends sat down.

Riley, Terry and Brian glanced around at the surroundings while Alex got straight to business.

"Tell me what you know about Fort Ramsey."

"Fort Ramsey isn’t what it seems to be from the outside.

"There’s a whole underground facility that is as big as a city with all the necessary resources and amenities for them to withstand a nuclear winter.

"I think I still have some of the old blueprints around here."

Norton got up and he walked over to a cabinet.

He opened up the cabinet and rummaged through the documents he had inside.

It took him a while before he found the rolls of blueprints that he had when he was involved with the construction of Fort Ramsey.

"Here, you can have a look at these." Norton turned around and held the rolls of blueprints tucked between his arms and body.

He placed the blueprints onto the dining table and Alex began to have a quick glance at it.

There were surprisingly many floors that were hidden beneath Fort Ramsey.

He scanned the blueprints and he stopped when he saw the place that was marked the command center and the room for the commanding officer.

That was his target.

Alex glanced at Norton and said, "Can I keep these?"

Norton nodded his head without much hesitation at all.

If it was before the Apocalypse, he would have had faith in and trusted the authorities.

But after the Apocalypse happened, there wasn’t much help from the authorities.

It made him question and doubt them.

Especially when the only help was getting everyone to the so-called quarantine area where these people were never heard from anymore.
