Next day.

Alex woke up early and washed up.

He had breakfast with his friends before he went to meet up with Eddy and the others.

From his storage space, he handed them the resources that he was able to scavenge on the trip the day before.

And after he was done, he turned over to Patricia and said, "I know it might be something new for you, but I need you and your team to look into rearing livestock for a more stable meat supply."

Patricia let out a sigh and nodded her head at him.

No one had much of a choice in this Apocalypse.

Either you work hard and be prepared for the worst, or you wait to perish under the many different possible ways of being killed.

Be it the mutated beasts or nature itself, there’s no mercy in this world now.

After he was done with Eddy and the others, he met up with his friends.

Riley was standing beside the car waiting for him while Terry and Brian were also standing not too far away, enjoying the rare moment of peace for them.

The hydroelectric dam was now their sanctuary with some of the modern comforts that they missed.

Although they had to venture out to scavenge, like what they have to do later, all the things were well taken care of by the other people in their group.

Alex came over and took out his map.

"There’s a route through the highway with a few stops in between for us to scavenge and rest.

"We shall stop fifty kilometers near Fort Ramsey before we take a stealthier route through the mountains.

"Once we reach there, we shall see if it is possible to infiltrate into it.

"If we can, I’ll try and see if I can disrupt whatever they are doing.

"But if we can’t, we might have to figure something out over there."

Alex thought about destroying the facilities or simply stealing all of their supplies again, just like what he had done before if it was too difficult for him to get into the fort undetected.

Anything to stall their attack on the hydroelectric dam.

And if he was able to get in, he had a specific target this time, if he was able to sneak into the fort.

General Xavier.

It was obvious to him now that this man was running the whole operation.

Taking him out would be the best outcome he could get to break them down. ℯ𝕝.

He might also be able to get more information on who was behind all of this when he gets to him.

However, it was all thoughts right now.

Alex’s friends nodded their heads to what he had said and they got ready to move out.

He got into the car together with his friends and Riley started the engine.

Vroom.

The engine of the car roared to life and the car moved out of the car park slot before it turned to the entrance, that was heavily guarded with the automatic grenade launchers and machine gun posts.

Along the way, they passed through the fields where Patricia and her team was hard at work, growing the crops with tremendous speed using her abilities.

Some of them were running around trying to capture the chickens, goats and cows that were left to roam freely, when the farmers retreated to the quarantine area.

Things were progressing well for them and Alex didn’t want their efforts to go to waste if possible.

As the car moved further away, the scenery slowly changed from the lush fields into a stretch of barren land.

There wasn’t much around the area after they got onto the highway towards Fort Ramsey.

For several times, they had to alight to take care of some of the piled up mess on the road, but other than that they didn’t encounter much.

There were some mutated beasts roaming around, but they were all Stage I and II mutated beasts, nothing that they couldn’t take care of.

Finally, they got to the first town on their route, and the car turned into it.

"Stop right there! Why are you here? We do not welcome strangers!" Two men who were at the road leading to the town shouted at Alex and his friends and they held their hands aimed at the car.

Their palms were engulfed in flames in the next moment.

These two men were obviously Awakened.

Alex prompted Riley to stop the car and he stepped out with his backpack.

He held his backpack in the air and said to the two men, "We are heading towards north to seek refuge in the fort over there.

"We come with no ill intentions.

"I have some food and water inside my backpack to trade if you want to."

Alex wanted to see if they were men whom he could talk with reasonably.

If they were, he would be able to gather information or cooperate with them in the future.

Right now the hydroelectric dam was undermanned and he needed more people to join to make it viable in the long run.

The two men glanced at each other for a moment before one of them whispered to the other.

The other man nodded his head, and said, "Put down the backpack and open it up so I can see if you are lying."

Alex nodded his head and he slowly placed his backpack onto the ground.

While he was doing so, Riley, Terry and Brian who were in the car, were ready to unleash their abilities if anything happened.

Thankfully, it wasn’t warranted.

The two men’s eyes opened wide when they saw the meat, vegetables and bottles of water inside Alex’s backpack.

"Do you have more of it?" One of the men couldn’t restrain his excitement and asked.

"There is, back in the car trunk." Alex pointed at the trunk of the car and said.

"Holy shit, you better get Norton to come and have a look!" The man said to the other and the other nodded his head and turned around to run as fast as he could into the town.
