Chapter 455: Marvelous Effect
Chapter 455: Chapter 455: Marvelous Effect
It gradually morphed into the shape of a shield. Frost Shaw observed that this one was even bigger and thicker than the last.
Sure enough, the moment the ice blade struck the shield, it was successfully neutralized.
However, the small white points of light only scattered on impact before quickly regrouping.
But anyone could see that the reformed shield was much smaller and thinner.
Leo Colby calmly deduced, "It’s likely related to the dosage. The more you drink, the stronger the little light points’ defense. It’s not a one-time use, either. It lasts until their energy is completely depleted."
This was exactly what Frost Shaw was thinking. "All right, try attacking me."
Leo Colby did as she asked and launched an attack at Frost Shaw. Just as they both expected, it could withstand two attacks before dissipating completely.
They had only drunk half a glass earlier. If they downed the entire thing, could it defend against four attacks?
While the two were deeply engrossed in their experiment and Stan Sterling watched with rapt fascination, the people dancing on the white circular stage finally noticed they were up to something at the bar.
They all started to drift over. Roman Rowe demanded discontentedly, "What are you two doing?"
Owen Warren also grumbled, "Why aren’t you guys dancing with us? Are you keeping something good all to yourselves? What’s that you’re drinking? Pour us a glass, too."
Linnie Shaw kept her distance, silently observing the men.
She suddenly realized Lily Hart was missing. After looking around for a moment, she spotted her, completely covered by a blanket.
The blanket was dark gray, and with it draped over her, she was practically invisible in the dimly lit bar.
She felt a sense of relief and quietly moved closer to Lily Hart.
As she drew near, she caught the scent of alcohol on her. ’Did she just drink? By herself?’
Linnie Shaw dragged a chair over to sit beside Lily Hart. She didn’t know the others well, and being near her gave her a sense of security.
Then, she went back to observing the men.
The blond-haired man said arrogantly, "Yeah, what are you drinking? Hurry up and pour us a glass."
A slightly slender, dark-haired man asked softly, "Where’s Lily Hart?"
A tall, fierce-looking man added, "That’s right, where’s Lily Hart? What did you do with her?"
Frost Shaw rolled her eyes and pointed in Linnie Shaw’s direction.
Everyone followed her gaze. Ah, there she was, under the blanket, with only an elbow sticking out, dead to the world.
Once they spotted Lily Hart, they naturally noticed Linnie Shaw beside her.
Linnie was sitting casually, one hand resting on the bar and the other on her knee, with one foot propped up on the rung of Lily Hart’s chair.
It looked as if she were protectively enclosing Lily Hart within her space.
Roman Rowe didn’t like the look of that at all. He zipped behind the bar with incredible speed and wedged his body between the two women.
He couldn’t care less what Linnie Shaw thought. ’Just get them apart, that’s what matters.’
’This broad doesn’t look like a good person. Look at all those piercings on her face. She looks so fierce, like she’s bad news.’
’Who knows what kind of ideas she has about Lily Hart.’ Roman Rowe had to put a stop to this immediately and prevent anything from happening.
Linnie Shaw was speechless as she watched him forcefully wedge himself in, presenting his backside to her.
Frowning, she had no choice but to scoot her chair back a few feet to get away from the obnoxious man.
Seeing that Lily Hart was all right, everyone relaxed.
Owen Warren asked, "She drank? How could you let her drink? You all know what she’s like when she’s drunk."
Frost Shaw shot him a withering look. "You talk too much."
With that interruption, Leo Colby nearly forgot the results of their earlier experiment.
Only after they had finished their squabbling did Leo Colby summarize the conclusions from his and Frost Shaw’s experiment.
Everyone was rather surprised, especially Linnie Shaw.
’I didn’t even know the liquor in my own bar had such a miraculous effect?’
’It can actually block attacks for whoever drinks it? Could there be other functions, too?’
’Like an attack power boost? A movement speed buff? Increased defense?’
It was hard to say. Linnie Shaw felt that if this was possible, then anything could be.
She glanced at her bartending guide. ’Don’t tell me every single drink in here corresponds to a different ability...’
The more Linnie Shaw thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.
But she didn’t know these people well and had no desire for excessive conversation, so she kept the thought to herself.
If Lily Hart were awake, she would definitely tell Boss Hart about it, and then the two of them could run some tests together.
Frost Shaw had the same idea; she planned to wait until Lily Hart woke up to tell her about it.
The others didn’t think that far ahead. After all, they couldn’t mix drinks, so the bar wasn’t really their concern.
After the initial surprise wore off, Frost Shaw turned to Linnie Shaw. "You’re the owner of this bar, right?"
Linnie Shaw nodded. It felt as if there was a clear dividing line between her and this group.
They were two distinct groups, with Lily Hart happening to be the link that connected them.
Unfortunately, Lily Hart had drunk too much and was now passed out, sleeping without a care in the world.
Frost Shaw nodded in understanding and didn’t press further, simply shrugging. "Well, keep up the good work. Let us know if you need any help."
She then walked over to Lily Hart, helped her up, and expertly scooped her into her arms.
Leo Colby gave Linnie a friendly smile. "We’ll be heading out now."
Roman Rowe immediately followed, once again giving Linnie Shaw a lovely view of his back and his butt.
Owen Warren was still stuck on the previous topic. "So, was that drink you guys mixed any good?"
Leo Colby recalled, "It was sweet. Not bad."
"How can something sweet be any good? Only Lily Hart likes stuff like that. If we’re gonna drink, we should be drinking hard liquor!" Owen Warren said with disdain.
Chatting and laughing, the group returned to the RV. Frost Shaw laid Lily on the sofa and covered her with the blanket again.
Then she went to the kitchen to prepare something to help with the alcohol, secretly vowing to herself.
’I have to keep a better eye on her from now on. The woman can’t hold her liquor but loves to drink, and sometimes she goes completely wild when she has too much.’
The food on the dining table had long since gone cold. Stan Sterling and Seth carried the dishes to the kitchen to reheat them.
Once the food was hot, Lily Hart groggily awoke, sitting up with the blanket still draped over her head.
All she could see was darkness. It took her a moment to react before she reached up and pulled the covering off.
She glanced around at the familiar surroundings. She was in the RV.
She could hear their cheerful laughter drifting over from time to time, and Lily Hart gradually began to relax.
She sat on the sofa in a daze for a while before recalling that they had all been dancing at the bar.
’How did we suddenly end up back here?’
She waved Leo Colby over. When he approached, she asked, "What happened?"
Leo Colby explained patiently, "You got drunk, so we came back."
’Well, that was simple and to the point.’
Lily Hart rolled her eyes. ’Of course, he’d give a useless answer.’ She turned to find Roman Rowe instead.
Sure enough, his version was far more descriptive. He even acted it out with vivid gestures.
He started by explaining how everyone was dancing, and then suddenly, she had vanished.
He’d gone looking for her and found Frost Shaw and Leo Colby mixing their own drinks. He then recounted what the two of them had discovered.
He glossed over that part, however, choosing to focus on the bar owner, explicitly and implicitly telling Lily Hart to stay away from her.
He claimed she wasn’t a good person, that she looked fierce and had her face pierced all over.
Lily Hart wanted to laugh as she listened to him. She ignored his petty complaints and simply asked, "So you’re saying drinking the liquor lets you block attacks?"
