Chapter 456: Chapter 456: Testing the Wine

Roman Rowe didn’t know the details either. "You should ask Frost Shaw and Leo Colby later. They’re the ones who figured this out; they’ve been studying it for a long time."

Lily Hart wasn’t surprised. Professional matters should be left to the professionals.

Roman Rowe, for instance, was great for listening to stories. He was very immersive, great for morale, and he was a good kisser, too.

But for anything else, you couldn’t expect too much.

Frost Shaw brought her a bowl of warm honey water, took her hand, and placed the bowl in it.

"Are you dizzy? Drink this." His tone was slightly assertive.

Lily Hart checked how she felt. She was a little dizzy, but not much. Still, not wanting to waste Frost Shaw’s kind gesture, she gulped it all down.

She did feel much better. She swung her legs and got off the sofa.

She went to the dining table and sat down. The table was full of hot dishes, though it was clear they had been reheated.

However, the color and aroma were still there, not affecting their edibility in the slightest.

While eating, Lily Hart voiced the question that had been on her mind. "You said the alcohol at the bar has special effects? How did you find out?"

Frost Shaw first ladled a bowl of soup for Lily Hart and placed it by her hand before answering her question.

"Leo Colby discovered it after taking a sip of a drink. After some experiments, he and I found that the drink had the ability to block attacks, about four times or so."

Leo Colby added, "We suspect different drinks have different functions, but we haven’t had a chance to test them yet."

Lily Hart nodded in understanding. "We’ll go check it out after we finish eating."

Everyone agreed. The most important thing at the moment was eating. Everything else could wait until after the meal.

Due to the recent extreme cold, there were few customers. The group quickly finished their meal and headed to the bar.

On the white, circular stage inside the bar, customers were already swaying to the music.

Lily Hart tried her best to block out the incredibly tempting music, restraining the urge to sway her own body.

She kept a straight face, but her hands were secretly tapping along to the beat.

She led the group to the bar and successfully found Linnie Shaw.

Linnie Shaw was studying the cocktail encyclopedia, looking extremely focused and muttering something under her breath.

As Lily Hart got closer, she found the piercings on Linnie’s face increasingly eye-catching, especially in the dim light.

"Hey, Boss Shaw, what are you looking at?" Lily Hart leaned against the bar, greeting her to start a conversation.

Linnie Shaw looked up, holding up the cocktail encyclopedia in her hand.

"Why don’t we mix all these drinks and try them out? Let’s see what functions they all have," Lily Hart said bluntly.

During the meal, Frost Shaw had mentioned that the bar’s owner also knew about this.

So, she had no intention of hiding it. After all, it was someone else’s shop; cooperation for mutual benefit was the way to go.

"Okay," Linnie Shaw agreed.

The group went behind the bar, and several heads huddled together in a tight squeeze.

Lily Hart, squeezed in the very middle, couldn’t take it anymore. She shoved Linnie Shaw aside, then shoved Roman Rowe.

"I’ll take pictures and post them in the group chat. You guys can each study one," Lily Hart said indignantly.

’I feel like I’m being squashed into a pancake! I can barely breathe.’

So, with lightning-fast hands, she photographed the first ten pages and sent them to the main group chat.

There were nine people present in total, which worked out perfectly. As soon as they received the photos, they immediately dispersed to study their assigned pages.

The tools and liquors mentioned in the cocktail encyclopedia could all be found on the bar and the shelves behind it.

Time ticked by, second by second. Aside from the deafening music,

the bar was filled only with the crisp clinking of tools.

Lily Hart was the first to finish mixing. It was a refreshing-looking, pink-colored drink. She took a sip.

A shiver ran through her from the cold, but she found it delicious. It had a faint strawberry flavor and a mild taste of alcohol.

The two combined were very refreshing and didn’t feel out of place at all.

She smacked her lips a couple of times, waiting for the little white specks of light they had talked about.

After a minute, there was no reaction. No little white specks of light at all.

’And to think I stood here like an idiot for so long!’

Feeling unconvinced, she carefully assessed her physical state. It seemed she felt more alert and lighter than before.

She always got drowsy after a meal, and reading the cocktail encyclopedia had also been making her sleepier and sleepier.

She’d been feeling unable to concentrate, but after that sip of the drink...

Her focus sharpened, she felt much more awake, and even her body felt energized!

Refusing to believe it, she downed the rest of the drink in one gulp.

The previous feeling became even more pronounced. Not only was her focus sharper, but even her vision seemed clearer.

’Holy cow, so this drink boosts your mental state?’

She immediately thought of a use case for this drink: when you’re exhausted from killing zombies, one sip would instantly revitalize you.

’Wow, it’s a Red Bull. Tired? Sleepy? Drink Red Bull.’

She had tried Red Bull before, though. It didn’t taste good, and it wasn’t even that effective. (Not trying to praise one by putting the other down.)

This drink was different. It was delicious, and its effect was significant!

Excitedly, she took out a pen and wrote a few words on the page she had been studying.

[Increases spiritual power.]

[E.g., improves focus, relieves fatigue, etc.]

She continued on to the next page; the other eight had already been claimed by others.

Linnie Shaw was the second to finish. Hers was a drink that faded from light blue to light purple.

It was a beautiful drink; one couldn’t bear to ruin the gradient.

Linnie Shaw, for example, held it in her hand, tilting it back and forth for a long time, not knowing how to bring herself to drink it.

Lily Hart came over. "What are you looking at?"

Linnie Shaw was torn. "It’s a little too pretty. I feel like drinking it will ruin it."

"Hmm, how about you mix another one to look at, and drink this one?" Lily Hart suggested.

"Good idea." No longer conflicted, Linnie Shaw downed it in one go.

Less than five seconds after she drank it, the little white specks of light appeared, surrounding Linnie Shaw completely.

They floated up and down, less than five centimeters from Linnie Shaw, looking as if they would protect her to the death.

Lily Hart observed for a moment. "Are these the little white specks of light they mentioned, the ones that can block attacks?"

She raised her hand and summoned a small, palm-sized willow tree. Its branches swayed and then struck out at Linnie Shaw.

The little white specks of light sensed the danger. Instead of just defending, they split off a portion of themselves.

They twisted into the shape of a dagger and shot straight at the willow tree, their speed just as fast, if not faster.

The willow tree also sent out branches to defend itself. In a flash, the two fought to a standstill.

Not only did the white specks block the branch attack, but they also formed a dagger to attack the willow tree.

And the willow tree, while attacking, was also able to block the sudden dagger.

Not wanting her willow tree to get hurt, Lily Hart quickly recalled it.

Then she looked at the specks of light with eyes full of admiration. ’Offense and defense in one.’

They were a level higher than the specks Frost Shaw had described, which could only block attacks.

She took the pen again and wrote a line of text on the page Linnie Shaw had been studying.

[Both offensive and defensive. Number of uses unknown.]

However, all of these had a limited number of uses. She guessed it was no more than five times at most.

But that was still incredible. Who would have thought a glass of alcohol could have so many functions?
