“Master! Look—the people in the gymnasium are charging out again!”

The moment Xiao Yi emerged from the Dark Castle, Li Wanning hurried over and pointed toward the distant gymnasium.

He climbed onto the city wall and looked in that direction.

Sure enough, Shen Jiabin and the other three basketball players had armed themselves with baseball bats and begun fighting their way down.

Shen Jiabin and Zhuang Qiang had tied flattened plastic bottles all over their bodies as makeshift armor. They had even put on baseball helmets and were courageously clearing a path at the front.

Remembering how easily Xiao Yi had traveled through the horde, he now believed the zombies were nothing special. “If a filthy level-ten cripple can do it, there’s no way we can’t!”

“Brother Bin! There’s a storage room in the second-floor gym filled with protein powder,” Gu Fanghua called from behind him, pointing excitedly toward the room. “If we can reach it, there should be enough to feed us for at least three or four days!”

The gym was barely a dozen meters away, and only a handful of zombies blocked the route.

“Why bother with disgusting protein powder?” Shen Jiabin replied dismissively. “With our strength, we can reach the martial arts hall on the first floor and find proper weapons! Once we’re armed, do you think we’ll have any trouble finding food?”

His confidence had completely overwhelmed his judgment.

Food was not what Shen Jiabin wanted most. He wanted a weapon.

“ROAR! THE DREAM TEAM WILL PREVAIL!”

There was no denying that Shen Jiabin possessed some talent for leadership. His stirring declaration filled the other three men with courage, and their morale instantly reached its peak.

In the very next instant, a short, black-skinned zombie shot up the stairs from the first floor.

It moved with terrifying speed and sank its teeth into Shen Jiabin’s neck.

His inspiring cry still echoed through the corridor when the zombie killed him.

Shen Jiabin’s eyes remained wide open, filled with disbelief and unwillingness.
