Apocalypse — Chapter 29: Skill Acquired—Xingyiquan Mastery

“Ding! C-rank zombie corpse successfully buried!”

“20 Apocalypse Coins acquired.”

“Strength increased by 3.”

“Constitution increased by 2.”

“Stamina increased by 2.”

“Skill acquired: Xingyiquan MasteAry.”

“Level 2 Tomb is now empty. Please bury another corpse.”

As the electronic voice faded, a scorching current once again swept through Xiao Yi’s entire body.

At last, he felt the sensation of his body being strengthened again!

For an instant, gravity seemed to release its hold on him, and he felt as though he might float into the air.

Every trace of fatigue from his recent exertions vanished. Boundless energy replaced it.

Several minutes later, the overwhelming pleasure of his attributes rising subsided, and Xiao Yi finally returned to normal.

“It really was a C-rank zombie! I can’t believe it raised my attributes by this much!”

Still stunned, he summoned his status panel.

“System, display my attributes!”

【City of Sin (Intermediate)】

【Apocalypse Coins: 78】

Xiao Yi was delighted by the enormous increase in his physical attributes, but the Skills field still displayed “None.”

That surprised him.

He had clearly heard the System announce that he had acquired Xingyiquan Mastery.

“System, why hasn’t the Xingyiquan Mastery skill I just obtained been added to my abilities?”

【Apologies. Skills obtained by burying zombie corpses must be purchased before they can be learned.】

“What?” Xiao Yi frowned. “So I have to spend Apocalypse Coins before I can actually acquire it?”

【Correct.】

Xiao Yi nodded. If that was how it worked, then he would buy it.

“System, I want to purchase Xingyiquan Mastery.”

【Initializing System Shop...】

【Initialization complete...】

【Please make your selection.】

A display resembling a shop shelf appeared before Xiao Yi.

The shelves were completely empty except for the image of an ancient martial arts manual floating alone in the first compartment.

【Xingyiquan Mastery: Xingyiquan is a traditional Chinese martial art with immense offensive power. Its forms include Dragon, Tiger, Bear, Snake, Tai, Monkey, Horse, Rooster, Swallow, Alligator, Sparrowhawk, and Eagle. Each animal form grants the practitioner a different advantage. These principles may also be applied to bladed combat. Purchasing this skill instantly grants complete mastery of every Xingyiquan form. Price: 50 Apocalypse Coins. Stock: 1.】

Fifty Apocalypse Coins was not particularly expensive.

After all, this skill would improve his combat technique.

Xiao Yi possessed excellent physical attributes, but in truth, his fighting technique was terrible. Beyond basic swings and slashes, he had no real skill whatsoever.

Learning Xingyiquan Mastery would at least double his combat power.

Fifty coins was an excellent bargain.

“Purchase Xingyiquan Mastery!”

【Requirements satisfied. Processing purchase...】

【50 Apocalypse Coins consumed.】

【Purchase successful.】

【Current Apocalypse Coin balance: 28.】

The instant the purchase completed, Xiao Yi experienced a sudden moment of enlightenment. The essence of Xingyiquan and countless memories of training flooded his mind.

It felt as though he had diligently practiced the martial art for decades.

Cracks and pops sounded throughout his body as if his muscles and bones were undergoing another evolution.

Five minutes later, Xiao Yi had completely mastered Xingyiquan.

His physical condition had already reached the pinnacle of humanity. Now he possessed a martial art capable of releasing all that power with scientific, efficient technique. Even against a world-class kickboxing champion, Xiao Yi was confident of victory.

He gently pushed the sleeping Lin Mancha aside, rose from the bed, and put on his clothes.

Then he practiced every Xingyiquan form inside the room.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

His fists tore through the air. One moment, his body resembled a prowling tiger or leopard. The next, he spread his arms like an eagle taking flight before suddenly flowing into the sinuous movement of a dragon or snake.

The violent sounds of displaced air finally awakened Lin Mancha.

Her entire body felt weak and sore, while certain places throbbed with tearing pain.

She gave a soft moan and tried to sit up.

The sound immediately attracted Xiao Yi’s attention. The white velvet blanket was extremely light and slid from her body as she moved, revealing everything beneath it.

Fresh from his martial arts practice, Xiao Yi turned toward her with renewed heat in his eyes and approached the bed once more.

Fear flickered in Lin Mancha’s gaze.

“Master... you already took me for two whole hours. I really can’t— Ah... Mmm...”
