Moira Lynch had just left the mission hall with the Genetic Transformation Liquid she’d redeemed when she suddenly stopped in her tracks.

She looked around. The sun was shining brightly, but for some reason, the hairs on her arms stood on end.

Working on the principle of “better safe than sorry,” Moira Lynch decided she needed to leave this place as quickly as possible.

Just then, a figure stumbled toward her from a short distance away, bumping into several people without a care.

Seeing him heading straight for her, Moira Lynch nimbly dodged aside to avoid his touch.

The man lunged at empty air, then turned and shot her a dark, menacing look.

With just that one glance, Moira Lynch knew something was wrong. ‘Would a normal person have vertical pupils?’

Moreover, she could sense that the energy emanating from him was mottled and chaotic.

As if she had realized something, Moira Lynch decisively drew her weapon and fired a single shot at the man’s head. BANG.

The gunshot instantly drew the attention of many, but Moira Lynch paid it no mind. The reason was simple: green blood was seeping from the wound of the person she had killed.

And within that green blood, tiny, wriggling worms were clearly visible.

“It’s a Parasite! A Parasite has infiltrated the base!”

Someone shouted—it was unclear who—and the scene instantly erupted into chaos.

Parasites and the Infected were the two types of creatures the people here feared most.

Like actual parasites and infectious diseases, if either of these two managed to enter a base, the resulting casualties would be immeasurable.

There was once a base that had been infiltrated by a single Parasite. It was discovered too late. By the time they found it, the Parasite had already reached its mature form and infected two-thirds of the base’s population.

In the end, to ensure the complete eradication of all infected individuals, the largest bases held a meeting. They made the final decision to launch a devastating strike against the compromised base.

This included everyone, even those who had not been infected by the Parasite.

Parasites have an incubation period, and it’s impossible for people to identify one during that stage.

Therefore, adhering to the principle of “better to kill the innocent than let one escape,” the entire population of that base, along with the Parasites, was exterminated.

They couldn’t give the Parasites time to mature and infect more people. It was the only way.

Moira Lynch surveyed the chaotic scene and decided to leave the area for now.

After all, no one knew how long that Parasite had been there, or if it was the original source of the infestation.

If not, then where was the true source?

With that thought, Moira Lynch instantly vanished from the base and sent a message to the other three.

[Moira Lynch: A Parasite was found in the base. I’m out.]

After sending the message, Moira Lynch looked back at their previous conversation.

When she saw the message from Shane Rhodes, her eyes widened, and she read it several times.

The savior of this world was named Carole Underwood. Her talent was healing, and according to her, she could cure those who were infected or parasitized.

At the same time, her talent also had a suppressive effect on the monsters that would greet people with a “Hello there.”

Eager to meet this savior, Moira Lynch asked Shane Rhodes for their location and started heading in that direction.

Hugh Finch and Kai York also changed their course.

She walked for an unknown amount of time until she vaguely saw several figures in the distance. Based on their build, one of them looked very similar to Shane Rhodes.

Just then, a message came through from Shane Rhodes:

[Shane Rhodes: I see you guys. Do you see me?]

Moira Lynch looked toward the distant figure, who was raising a hand and waving in her direction, seemingly trying to get her attention.

The distance was too great to make out their face.

Just as Moira Lynch was thinking the people opposite her were Shane Rhodes and the world’s savior, she suddenly sensed that something was wrong.

Within the range of her spiritual power, there was no one at the location of the figures.

‘Not good! Run!’

In just one-thousandth of a second, Moira Lynch teleported away from her original spot.

At the same instant, a shadowy figure with long, emaciated limbs appeared where she had just been, crawling forward and letting out a series of guttural roars.

The creature’s reflexes were incredibly fast. Seeing that its attack had missed, it coiled its limbs and shot toward Moira Lynch’s new position like a cannonball.

As the monster drew closer, Moira Lynch could even hear the ugly, hoarse voice coming from its throat.

“Hello there.”

Meeting the monster’s hollow eyes, Moira Lynch knew she was its target. Evasion was useless.

“Hello there.”

The monster’s figure abruptly vanished, leaving only a black afterimage. The next second, alarm bells screamed in Moira Lynch’s mind. Her body instinctively retreated a few steps back and to the left, dodging the monster’s surprise attack.

A black flame erupted from her body and instantly climbed onto the monster’s arm.

Moira Lynch knew that physical attacks were not very effective against these monsters.

‘Since physical attacks don’t work, I’ll try a power-based one.’

The moment the flame of Destruction touched the monster’s body, it spread as if doused in accelerant, clinging tenaciously as it rapidly engulfed the creature’s entire form.

“AHHHH!!!!”

Its body rapidly dissolving, the monster let out a blood-curdling scream.

This was the first time Moira Lynch had heard anything from these monsters other than “Hello there.”

Watching the monster burn to ashes from the Destruction, Moira Lynch couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

‘Good. Destruction is effective against these monsters. After all, this is my strongest technique.’

‘If even my strongest technique couldn’t handle them, my only option would have been to open a pocket dimension and hide.’

Although this monster was dead, Moira Lynch didn’t let down her guard. The shadowy figure in the distance was still there; it hadn’t disappeared.

She looked up at the distant shadow. It was still holding its hand up, but it wasn’t waving.

Moira Lynch didn’t understand. The figure had just been watching from afar the entire time with no intention of helping. ‘Wasn’t that monster one of its kind?’

While she was still puzzling over it, the shadowy figure finally moved.

Faced with its lightning-fast speed, Moira Lynch didn’t panic. Instead, she stood perfectly still.

She was already fully prepared. The area around her was already saturated with the Annihilation Flame. As soon as the figure got close, it would…
