Chapter 611 - 601: Eternal Evolution Stone

  • Next Chapter

When news of Moira Lynch and her group’s deaths reached Professor Wallace and his son, they both felt the world spin.

The mayor even paid a personal visit to console the father and son.

However, the more the mayor tried, the more distressed Professor Wallace appeared.

Seeing this, the mayor assumed the professor was simply having trouble accepting the truth. Little did he know, Professor Wallace was acting this way entirely because he hadn’t yet received the payment Moira Lynch had promised them.

The thought alone made Professor Wallace’s heart ache so much he could barely breathe.

However, he couldn’t very well voice this reason. Forgetting whether anyone would even believe him, Moira Lynch and her group were already dead in the public’s eyes. If he claimed they were aliens, he’d probably be dismissed as a lunatic.

Besides, he had looked into Moira Lynch’s group. On the surface, their records were flawless—so flawless, in fact, that it seemed suspicious, especially for orphans.

Unfortunately, in the current state of the world, with information networks half-paralyzed, he couldn’t conduct a more thorough investigation.

Just then, Barry Wallace came down from the second floor, carrying a silver metal case.

He opened the case, revealing neat rows of different colored Medicines.

The moment Professor Wallace saw them, his aches and pains vanished. He shot up from the sofa like a spring and teleported—or so it seemed—in front of his son.

"Where did you find this?"

"In Moira Lynch’s room on the second floor," Barry Wallace answered honestly. "Dad, it’s weird. After they left, I cleaned every single corner of that room, and I didn’t find anything."

"But just now, when I passed by the room Moira Lynch stayed in, I suddenly had the urge to go inside. As soon as I walked in, this case just appeared on the bed."

After hearing his son’s explanation, Professor Wallace had a pretty good idea of what had happened.

’The items must have been left here from the start. Moira just used some method to make us temporarily overlook the case’s existence.’

He was now even more curious about what kind of talent Moira Lynch had awakened. But for now, more important matters awaited him.

Just as Professor Wallace was about to dive headfirst into his lab to study these Medicines, an ancient voice echoed in his ears, and in the ears of every survivor on the planet.

Meanwhile, on the other side of things, Moira Lynch cut her hair down to waist-length with a pair of scissors.

Looking at the strands of dark hair in her hand, she noticed it seemed to have gotten thicker, and even its texture had improved.

Moira Lynch wasn’t too particular about her hairstyle. She always tied her hair up when entering the game anyway. Most of the time, she just let it hang loose down her back.

In her words, it was to "liberate the scalp."

After a quick trim of the ends, Moira Lynch began to sort through her gains from the game.

She didn’t have to worry about the miscellaneous junk brought out of the game; Shane Rhodes and the others would handle it.

With that thought, she took out a stone that looked completely ordinary.

Just then, Patience suddenly let out a sharp, explosive sound.

[An Evolution Stone! An Eternal Evolution Stone! Master, how do you have an Eternal Evolution Stone!]

"I brought it out of the game. What are you so excited about? You weren’t this worked up when we found the Eternal Awakening Stone."

[This is different, my Master.]

"How is it different?" Moira Lynch asked curiously.

[While the Eternal Awakening Stone is rare, it isn’t one-of-a-kind. As far as we know, The Federation possesses three of them. But the Eternal Evolution Stone... its last appearance was two hundred years ago.]

[The Eternal Evolution Stone back then was only the size of a small pebble, much smaller than the one in your hand, Master.]

"And then what? Don’t tell me it triggered a massive war," Moira Lynch guessed.

[Not quite, but it came close. Before a fight could even break out, the Eternal Evolution Stone was destroyed by a sudden cosmic storm.]

"What a shame," Moira Lynch said with a pout. "Anyway, how do I use this Eternal Evolution Stone?"

[The purpose of the Eternal Evolution Stone is to help talents evolve!]

"I know that, of course. But talent evolution can be either malignant or benign. Can the Eternal Evolution Stone guarantee which one it will be?"

Moira Lynch’s own talent was already excellent. A benign evolution would be the icing on the cake, but a malignant one would mean the loss far outweighed the gain.

[You can rest assured on that point, Master. The Eternal Evolution Stone is different from an ordinary Evolution Stone. It guarantees a 100% benign evolution for the user’s talent. To use it, you just need to carry it on your person. Moreover, the energy radiated by the Eternal Evolution Stone will also indirectly affect those around you.]

[However, this effect won’t be apparent right away; it requires long-term exposure. Patience suggests that you place the Eternal Evolution Stone inside the Pharmaceutical Ring and then carry the Pharmaceutical Ring with you. This will not only maximize the Eternal Evolution Stone’s effectiveness but also serve as a disguise.]

After listening to Patience, Moira Lynch thought it made perfect sense. ’My all-purpose helper is truly worthy of the name.’ "Alright, I’ll do as you say."

With that, she took out the Pharmaceutical Ring and placed the Eternal Evolution Stone inside.

The next second, as the Eternal Evolution Stone entered, the Pharmaceutical Ring began to emit a faint white glow. Then, its form started to shrink continuously.

Finally, the Pharmaceutical Ring transformed into a streak of white light and shot into Moira Lynch’s hand.

Moira Lynch felt an intense burning and stinging sensation in her palm.

She raised her hand and saw a white cross had appeared on her palm at some point.

The white cross flickered a few times before disappearing completely, but Moira Lynch could still clearly sense the Pharmaceutical Ring’s presence.

"Did it... evolve again?"

’This must be an evolution.’

With a thought, a bottle of Medicine appeared in her hand.

This evolution... the Pharmaceutical Ring—no, it should be called the Medicine Chest now. That was the name that had just popped into her head.

After the Medicine Chest’s evolution, a new function was added to its original capabilities.

Simply put, this new function allowed her to create any Medicine she wanted at any time, without using up the quotas for random production or daily fixed production.

However, using this function required Moira Lynch to provide her own energy.

This wasn’t a major issue. She had just tried it, and the energy consumed to produce one vial of Medicine was almost negligible.

Moreover, the Medicine Chest was now integrated with her body, so there was no fear of losing it. It was truly the best of both worlds.
