Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 612 - 602: Three Days
By evening, Shane Rhodes and the other two still hadn’t returned, but Moira Lynch paid it no mind. After being gone for so long, it was only natural for them to want a proper reunion with their families now that they were back.
However, as she looked at the leftover dinner before her, she felt her appetite wane. She had grown used to having company, and now she was suddenly alone.
Still, Moira Lynch finished all of her dinner. After all, wasting food was a shameful thing.
Lying on the soft bed.
"Patience, how are things going with the tasks I assigned you?"
Moira Lynch was referring to the reward she had received—half the fortune of the old man she had saved.
"I’ve already taken control of everything. I’ve also reviewed all the files. The businesses are all well-managed with no hidden issues. It’s best to maintain the status quo."
"That’s good to hear."
Moira Lynch wasn’t an expert in this area. Without her all-powerful butler, Patience, she couldn’t even imagine what state she would be in right now.
"Oh, right. See if any of those businesses have operations suitable for Caelus. Try to build some bridges."
"I knew you would say that, Master, so I’ve already begun preparations. However, given Cathaya’s current situation, the development of those other planets is already keeping them busy enough. If you wish to expand cooperation, it might require the involvement of other nations."
After all, Moira Lynch was Cathayan. Even though Patience was just an AI, it understood the principle of saving the best for one’s own.
Moira Lynch rolled over in bed. "We don’t need to worry about that. Just give them the contracts and let them handle the rest."
She said this with such self-assurance, passing the buck in the clearest way possible.
’Anyway, she had provided the opportunity. How they chose to handle it was no longer her concern.’
"Just make sure we don’t lose any money on our end. Also, how are things on Caelus?"
"Caelus’s temperature is still dropping. However, thanks to Calidia’s assistance, Cathaya has nearly finished laying the massive underground heating pipes, so their situation isn’t too bad. Also, more and more people are arriving on Veridian Prime. But the other nations have probably started to figure things out."
"Don’t worry about that. It’s not our problem."
"There is one more thing. Over the past month, someone on the Astranet has been making high-profile declarations of love for you, Master. He says he will marry no one but you."
Hearing this, Moira Lynch’s eyes flew open, but she quickly shut them again.
’She already knew who it was.’
"Ignore him."
Mainly, given that person’s status, she couldn’t get involved even if she wanted to. If she actually responded, it would only make things more complicated and harder to explain.
What should have been a simple matter would become a tangled mess.
’So, in this situation, the best approach was to give him the cold shoulder: don’t listen, don’t look, and don’t respond.’
’He can say whatever he wants. It’s his mouth, after all.’
But she couldn’t ignore it completely, either.
"Keep an eye on the trends on the Astranet. If any negative comments pop up, like rumors or slander, shut them down immediately. Money is no object."
She might not care about the proposal, but that didn’t mean she was willing to let people slander her.
After settling this matter, Moira Lynch groggily drifted off to sleep.
In the haze of her dream, she saw a black shadow and a small, glowing white ball.
The small white ball was jumping up and down in front of the black shadow, looking extremely angry.
Moira Lynch’s mind was in a state of chaos. She didn’t know what she was doing or where she was going. Her entire being felt hazy. Seeing the figures over there, she subconsciously floated toward them.
As she drew closer, she saw the little white ball hopping about like a brat throwing a tantrum, giving off a sense of impotent rage.
’What are they saying?’
Just as Moira Lynch tried to get closer to listen carefully, the black shadow seemed to notice her. It turned its head, a pair of calm, placid eyes locking onto her. Then, with a wave of a large hand, she was sent flying.
Faintly, a cold voice echoed in her ear.
Three days.
’Three days? What about three days? Why three days?’
Moira Lynch’s eyes shot open. She saw that it was already broad daylight outside. Reaching up to touch her forehead, she found it covered in sweat.
She couldn’t recall the dream clearly, but the words "three days" were etched in her memory.
Her intuition told her this was no ordinary dream.
Moira Lynch took a deep breath, then got up, washed her face, and went downstairs.
When she got downstairs, she was greeted by the sight of three men with high ponytails in the living room. She fell silent.
"What’s with this look?"
Kai York tossed his hair and explained, "Long hair is too much trouble. It gets in the way of everything."
"If it’s inconvenient, then just cut it short," Moira Lynch said, confused. ’Is that so difficult?’
"We want to, but you know how barbers are. It’s like they’re a different species that can’t understand human language. Besides, there are no barbershops here on Veridian Prime, so..."
An expression of understanding appeared on Moira Lynch’s face. ’I get it,’ she thought. ’Better to have nothing than settle for less.’
"In that case, let’s go to The Federation. I hear you can adjust the hairstyle yourself until you’re satisfied, and only then will the barber start cutting."
She also took the opportunity to tell them about the "three days" incident.
"So you think the next game might be in three days?" Hugh Finch asked.
Moira Lynch nodded. "I’m not entirely sure, but it’s like they say, better safe than sorry. We can go to The Federation and pick some things up while we’re there."
Moira Lynch’s purpose for this trip to The Federation was to buy nutrient liquid.
This wasn’t your ordinary nutrient liquid. It was a newly released, high-grade version. It tasted good, was packed with energy, and not only filled you up but also restored your stamina and power.
Although it was a bit pricey, this nutrient liquid was still in such high demand that it was constantly sold out. Moira Lynch had to ask Ellers for help just to snag a batch at an inflated price.
Speaking of Ellers, after taking a vial of Moira Lynch’s blood, he had apparently made some incredible discoveries and published several authoritative papers.
To thank Moira Lynch for her help, Ellers had originally wanted to add her name to the papers, but she refused.
’After all, she hadn’t really helped with anything; she just provided some blood. What would be the point of adding her name?’
’He was the researcher; what was she, the researchee?’
’Better to just forget it.’
She took out the Teleportation Gate.
Their destination this time was Apexia. However, since Moira Lynch had never been there before, they first needed to go to Tarmir and transfer.
The process was incredibly smooth. A few hours later, Moira Lynch and the others landed on Apexia.
