Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 610 - 600: Finally Back
After a dizzying spin, Moira Lynch and her companions were finally back in their own home.
Seeing the familiar decor, Moira was overcome with excitement. She threw herself onto her soft, spacious bed and rolled around several times before finally coming to a stop.
It was true—nothing was more comfortable than her own bed.
Though she hadn’t exactly suffered during her time in the game, she had spent every day on edge.
She was constantly afraid the Cosmic Consciousness would launch a surprise attack and catch them completely off guard.
Just then, Patience’s voice sounded in Moira’s ear. "Master, you’re finally back!"
"Patience!"
Hearing the familiar voice, Moira felt a surge of excitement, but it was immediately followed by a sense that something was wrong. "What do you mean, ’finally’ back?" she asked. "Patience, how long was I gone?"
"Master, you and your friends were gone for a full thirty days," Patience said plaintively. "I was starting to think something had happened to you."
Moira was stunned to hear they’d been gone for thirty days. The Cosmic Consciousness really didn’t play by the rules.
"Patience, tell me everything that’s happened while I was away."
"Yes, of course."
Patience then recounted everything that had occurred during her thirty-day absence.
In previous games, Patience had always remained by Moira’s side. So when it discovered its connection to its master had been severed, it was frantic at first.
Fortunately, Moira had anticipated this possibility before entering the game. So, after a brief period of panic, Patience regained its composure and dutifully carried out the orders Moira had left behind.
Take care of her personal dimension, Cloudsea Planet, and the shop.
"Quite a few people tried to visit you during this time, but I found excuses to turn them all away."
"Good work."
After listening to Patience’s report, Moira got out of bed and started heading out of the room.
As she passed the full-length mirror in her room, she suddenly stopped in her tracks.
She turned to face the mirror, gazing at the person within.
In both her past life and this one, Moira Lynch had always been undeniably beautiful.
In her past life, however, she’d been too busy just trying to survive. Besides, being beautiful often wasn’t a good thing, so she had, both intentionally and unintentionally, hidden her looks.
She’d spent years hiding behind heavy bangs and a pair of black-framed glasses that covered half her face. Over time, she had almost forgotten what she truly looked like.
In this life, despite the apocalypse, Moira’s circumstances were much better than before. On top of that, awakening her talents and using numerous rare items had already improved both her appearance and her physical condition to an unknown degree.
But even so, throughout the galaxy, there were plenty who could match her looks, and even some who surpassed her.
But now...
Staring at her reflection, Moira covered her face with her hands, an expression of utter disbelief washing over her.
*Oh my god,* she thought. *Is that person in the mirror really me?*
*Has this mirror mutated? Does it come with a built-in beauty filter, or is there a master retoucher living inside it?*
After a few tentative checks, she confirmed it was still the same old mirror. It hadn’t become sentient, nor had it mutated.
*So... the person in the mirror really is me?*
Looking closer, she could see her features were the same, but for some reason, the overall effect was so different she looked like another person entirely.
This wasn’t just maxing out her looks; this was breaking the meter.
Looking at the person in the mirror, Moira felt her own heart skip a beat.
*Oh no. Have I fallen in love with myself?*
Taking another glance at her reflection... well, she supposed it wouldn’t be the worst thing.
Wait a second... is there something in my eye?
The Cosmic Consciousness had only allowed them to bring five items into the game, so Moira hadn’t brought her beauty contact lenses.
She had originally thought her natural eyes would be conspicuous, but no one seemed to have paid any attention. Later on, as some people’s hair and eye colors changed upon awakening their talents, it became even less of a concern.
She leaned closer to the mirror, examining her eyes in the reflection.
Was that... a star?
Moira reached out and turned the mirror away. If she kept looking, she might genuinely fall in love with herself. It was better to put it out of sight and out of mind. As for the change itself, she guessed it had to be related to that seed.
With that thought, she released Snowy.
Her own transformation was this drastic; Snowy, who had swallowed the seed directly, must have changed even more.
And she was right.
The moment Snowy appeared, Moira was engulfed in a mass of white fur. Her body slammed hard against the wall, accompanied by the sound of furniture scraping across the floor.
Looking at the massive Snowy that now filled her entire room, Moira tried to move but found she was completely pinned.
Just then, a plaintive cry came from the other side of the room.
Snowy was stuck.
Seeing this, Moira waved her hand and recalled Snowy, finally getting a chance to breathe.
"Patience, I need you to look into something for me."
She described the seed and its appearance to the AI.
"Don’t alert anyone. Investigate it secretly."
After what had just happened, she was fully aware of how extraordinary the seed was.
During the struggle, Moira’s hair had come completely undone. Her once waist-length hair was now even longer, hanging just a few centimeters from the floor.
Her jet-black locks, like the finest silk, shimmered in the sunlight.
At the moment, however, Moira’s attention wasn’t on her hair.
She went downstairs to find the other three already waiting for her.
The three of them stared, stunned by Moira’s transformation. It was Hugh Finch who spoke first, calling out tentatively, "Moira?"
Moira nodded with a soft "Mm."
After receiving confirmation, Kai York swallowed hard. "What happened to you?" he asked.
"I’m not sure myself. I was like this when I came out of the game. I’m guessing it has something to do with that seed I found."
As she said this, Moira looked at the three of them and noticed they had also undergone some changes, more or less.
While not as drastic as her own transformation, Hugh’s eyes were different, purple markings had appeared on Shane’s face, and Kai’s hair now had cyan highlights.
Moreover, all of their hair had grown to waist-length, making them look like handsome figures straight out of a historical drama.
"By the way," she added, "we were in the game for thirty days this time, which means thirty days have also passed here on Caelus and Veridian Prime. You should probably head home and check on things."
The three of them looked completely shocked to hear this.
Clearly, they hadn’t known. They must have thought it was like before, where only a few minutes would have passed.
The three of them left in a hurry. Moira stretched lazily, then decided she would cut her hair a bit shorter.
As much as she liked her long hair, it would be inconvenient at this length. Cutting it shorter was the practical choice.
Going to a salon was out of the question; with her current face, she wasn’t suited for going out in public. Moira found a pair of scissors, deciding to play hairstylist herself.
