Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 602 - 592: Sound Source Pollution 44
If anyone else in the galaxy knew what Moira Lynch was thinking right now, countless people would be too green with envy to sleep.
For others, awakening even once is incredibly difficult, yet you’ve awakened three times in a row. Others spend countless amounts of energy to cultivate a single talent to level four, but you’ve done it with almost no effort—eating when you should, drinking when you should, just breezing your way to level four.
This goes beyond shocking; it’s utterly outrageous. ’And I’m still not satisfied?’
Although Moira Lynch needed three times the energy to level up, the "Super delicious orange" happened to compensate for this drawback.
She weighed the pomelo-sized orange in her hand. ’So, it just didn’t get its fill earlier, huh.’
After resting in place for a little while longer, Moira Lynch waited for the cooldown on her Blink ability to finish before getting back in the car.
Back in the car, she saw the other two and asked, "What are you two getting ready to do?"
The two of them had fierce looks in their eyes, weapons in hand, postured as if ready to fight for their lives at any moment.
But upon seeing that Moira Lynch was safe and sound, they both seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
"What took you so long?" Hugh Finch asked.
"The cooldown for Blink wasn’t up yet, so I had to wait a bit," Moira Lynch explained.
The two of them had looks of understanding.
"But what method did you use to take care of the monster? We didn’t hear any sounds of a fight at all," Kai York asked curiously.
Hearing this, Moira Lynch gave a mysterious smile and said, "Fighting and killing... it’s not very elegant. It doesn’t suit a lady like me."
Kai York & Hugh Finch: ...
’A lady? Do those two words have anything to do with you at all? You’re a freakishly strong girl.’ Of course, they wouldn’t dare say something like that out loud.
Afterwards, Moira Lynch took out the "Super delicious orange" to show them and explained what had happened.
However, she didn’t mention the orange’s true effect or the difficulty of cultivating multiple talents.
Right now, besides Moira Lynch, Kai York was the only one here with multiple talents. She planned to talk to him about it after the game ended.
And just like that, thanks to Moira Lynch’s actions, the unusual disaster was averted, and everyone passed a peaceful night.
The next morning arrived—the twenty-second day of the game.
If nothing unexpected happened, they would reach Novus this afternoon.
During this time, aside from meals and a one-hour rest at noon, Professor Wallace and Barry Wallace were constantly pestering Moira Lynch with questions.
After one night, the two of them had evolved. Yesterday, they were both asking the same questions and taking notes together. Now, as if they had planned it, they took turns, one asking a question right after the other had finished.
It was also because of these two that she realized how impressive her own knowledge reserves were.
She could answer about seventy percent of the questions posed by Professor Wallace and Barry Wallace, and Hugh Finch, who was at their side, would occasionally fill in the gaps.
It wasn’t until that afternoon, when the gates of Novus appeared in the distance, that Moira Lynch felt a sense of final relief.
’Finally, we’re here.’
Moira Lynch picked up a nearby bottle of mineral water and chugged the entire thing. GULP, GULP.
Before entering Novus, they had to go through an inspection to confirm they weren’t hidden "infected."
’So Novus calls those monsters "the infected"?’
Moira Lynch blended into the line, curiously observing what kind of inspection this was.
Of course, Moira’s main focus was on Professor Wallace and his son, Barry.
The two of them knew their identities, and she had to prevent them from secretly revealing who they were.
The possibility was slim, but it was better to be safe than sorry. You could never be too careful.
Fortunately, the two were very discreet and didn’t pass any information to the inspectors.
After confirming the two of them weren’t a problem, another challenge quickly presented itself: how they were going to pass the inspection themselves.
Once they entered the inspection room, Moira Lynch’s group realized that the check required them to reveal their tentacles.
As Caelans, Moira Lynch and her group didn’t have such things.
’We’re screwed. Our cover’s blown.’
Just then, Moira Lynch pulled out an item and hypnotized the staff members and the few others who had come in for inspection with them.
Combining it with psychological suggestion, they passed the test without a hitch.
Luckily, the inspection room was sealed, so no one outside could see what was happening. Otherwise, it would have been a real mess.
After all, the item’s ability was limited; it couldn’t hypnotize everyone there.
Besides, hypnotizing so many people at once would definitely attract the attention of Novus’s top brass.
After leaving the inspection room, they saw Professor Wallace and Barry Wallace waiting for them outside.
"Young Lynn, you’re finally out! You’re strangers in a strange land here, so why don’t you come stay at my place first? It’d be more convenient," Barry Wallace invited enthusiastically.
Moira Lynch said, "Wouldn’t that be too much trouble?"
Barry Wallace shook his head. "Not at all! It’s just me and my dad at home, and our house is big, so it won’t be crowded."
"Are you sure you can even get back to your own house under these circumstances?" Hugh Finch said, glancing meaningfully behind them.
"Don’t you worry about that. As for my house, no one would dare touch it without my permission," Professor Wallace said authoritatively.
The three of them thought it over and ultimately accepted Barry Wallace’s invitation.
After all, compared to the hassle of finding a place themselves—which might not even be any good—staying in a ready-made home was a better option. Now was not the time to be proud.
Upon entering Novus, they found the streets on both sides packed with people, and a foul odor hung in the air.
Although they had accepted the invitation from the Wallace father and son, they didn’t all head back together. Professor Wallace needed to return to his research institute, and Barry Wallace also had things to take care of.
So, Moira Lynch’s trio decided to familiarize themselves with Novus, just in case any sudden situations arose in the coming days.
Just then, a little boy who looked to be about eight or nine years old suddenly ran up, tilted his head back, and asked them, "Is this your first time in Novus? I can be your guide. All it costs is a bag of instant noodles or a bottle of mineral water."
"Sure, we’ll take you up on that," Moira Lynch said, bending down with a smile. "I don’t have any instant noodles, though. Only bread. Will that do?"
Seeing the bread in Moira Lynch’s hands, the little boy’s eyes lit up. He quickly snatched it, hugging it to his chest as he said, "Yes, yes, of course! Where do you want to go? I’ll take you right now!"
"Take us wherever newcomers go after they get into Novus," said Hugh Finch.
