Chapter 433 - 423: Voyage Carnival 25

"Ah, did I not tell you?" Moira Lynch asked, her face a mask of confusion. Anyone who didn’t know any better would have thought she’d actually forgotten.

This time, Hugh Finch included, they all stared at her. Their gazes clearly screamed, ’What have you told us?’

Seeing their reactions, Moira Lynch laughed sheepishly. "I guess I forgot to mention it. In a previous round of the game, I happened to register as an adventurer. I can accept quests to earn extra commission."

"Isn’t that pretty much the same as being a mercenary?" Kai York asked.

Moira Lynch nodded. "It’s quite similar, but adventurers are legal in the interstellar community and are protected by law."

"So, how many quests have you taken since you registered?" Shane Rhodes asked curiously.

"To be honest, since I registered, I only took one or two quests right at the beginning. After that, I just take one on occasion to keep my adventurer status from being revoked," Moira Lynch admitted honestly.

It wasn’t that she had completely forgotten, but the adventurer status wasn’t particularly useful in the game, so she hadn’t given it much thought.

If she weren’t worried about her adventurer status being revoked, she probably wouldn’t have done any quests at all.

Following Moira Lynch’s instructions, the three of them registered as adventurers.

Registering as adventurers didn’t take too long, and soon they returned to the topic at hand.

Shane Rhodes was the first to speak. "It’s too dangerous for you to go alone. I won’t be at ease unless one of us goes with you."

Moira Lynch knew Shane Rhodes was just concerned, so she didn’t refuse. "Alright. In that case..."

Her eyes swept over the three of them before finally landing on Kai York. "Kai York can come with me."

Moira Lynch’s reason for choosing Kai York was simple: he could fly.

The other two could also fly with the help of items, but they would make too much of a scene.

Although Shane Rhodes and Hugh Finch were a little disappointed by Moira Lynch’s choice, they didn’t say anything.

’Sigh. No chance to join the fun and see something new. Bummer.’

Kai York, on the other hand, was ecstatic. He practically jumped three feet in the air, asking impatiently:

"Moira, do you think The Interstellar Federation Government will send a ship?"

"I think so," Moira Lynch said, though she wasn’t certain. "The crimes those two committed are quite serious. Otherwise, the bounty wouldn’t be this high. It seems The Interstellar Federation Government is taking this matter very seriously."

Hearing Moira Lynch’s words made Kai York even more excited.

They waited until nightfall, at which point Moira Lynch and Kai York went up to the deck.

To avoid having their opponent call off the plan upon seeing two people, the pair had made a point to get some alcohol.

Moira Lynch disliked the taste of alcohol. And while Kai York could hold his liquor, he couldn’t get drunk at a time like this—he was supposed to be a bodyguard, after all.

So, Moira Lynch simply splashed the liquor onto her exposed skin to create a convincing illusion for their target.

’Isn’t this a bit too obvious?’

Kai York’s eyes asked Moira Lynch, full of uncertainty.

Moira Lynch, however, returned his gaze with a reassuring look.

Because her mental probe had already detected MoonlitTears sneaking toward them with three other people.

It looked like they were planning an ambush.

MoonlitTears’s plan was simple: have someone lure her target to the deck, then, when she wasn’t paying attention, push her into the sea.

In her eyes, all her recent humiliating setbacks were Moira Lynch’s fault. Therefore, she planned to eliminate Moira first, then deal with Joy Rhodes. After that, she would pick off the rest one by one.

She refused to believe that with her charm, she couldn’t conquer a few naive young men.

MoonlitTears was supremely confident. As long as Moira Lynch and Joy Rhodes weren’t around to interfere, she was certain she could make Shane Rhodes and the others her devoted admirers.

From the earlier introductions, MoonlitTears already knew about Moira Lynch’s talent. Although there was a chance Moira had been lying, she was convinced it wasn’t an offensive-type talent.

As for why? Don’t ask. The answer was simply a woman’s intuition.

Just as MoonlitTears was wondering how to lure Moira Lynch out of her room, Moira appeared on her own. And by the looks of it, she had been drinking. ’It’s like the heavens themselves are helping me.’

The only downside was that someone else was with her.

This person’s talent was the Wind Element.

MoonlitTears hesitated. The Wind Talent was quite powerful, but she couldn’t bear to give up such a perfect opportunity to eliminate her biggest threat.

After a moment’s hesitation, she decided to deal with Moira Lynch first.

’As they say, a woman’s status is unstable if she isn’t ruthless. If you have to blame someone, blame yourself for being by her side at this moment.’

"Attack!"

In an instant, three figures shot out from different directions, charging toward Moira Lynch and Kai York.

The three brandished weapons, clearly intent on killing them both.

Just as the attackers closed in, an invisible force blocked their attacks, and in the next moment, Moira Lynch and Kai York were sent tumbling overboard.

With two screams and a pair of loud "SPLASH" sounds, Moira Lynch and Kai York vanished into the sea.

But Hugh Finch had vetoed the idea for a simple reason: "The more you do, the more chances there are to mess up."

The screams brought Shane Rhodes, Joy Rhodes, Hugh Finch, Caden York, and several others rushing over.

Earlier in the day, Moira Lynch had brought out a large catch of fish. Seeing this, the ship’s captain had been uncharacteristically generous, producing a barrel of liquor and declaring it was to liven up the meal for everyone.

That’s why, when everyone heard the commotion, they were able to rush to the scene so quickly—just in time to see Moira Lynch and Kai York falling into the sea.

They were caught red-handed.

MoonlitTears had barely a moment to celebrate how easily Moira Lynch had been dealt with before she heard footsteps approaching from behind.

When she turned, she saw a crowd of people standing behind her, staring at her with expressions of shock and fury.

She started to explain almost instinctively, "No, it’s not what you think! I—"

Before she could finish, a dragon made of water charged straight at her.

Seeing this, MoonlitTears’s pupils constricted. She just barely managed to dodge the water dragon’s attack, looking utterly disheveled.

She may have dodged it, but the players behind her weren’t so lucky.

One of the players, unable to dodge in time, was struck head-on by the water dragon and vanished from sight.

Seeing this, the crowd looked toward Caden York, who had launched the attack, but no one said a word.

The players all knew that one of the two people who had just gone overboard was Caden York’s own younger brother. Avenging his brother was perfectly justified; they had no reason to stop him.

Besides, even if they had a reason to stop him, they wouldn’t have wanted to. After all, no one wanted a venomous Siren Serpent who could strike at any moment hanging around.

So, even though no one said a word, they had all reached a silent, unanimous agreement.
