Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 432 - 422: Sailing Carnival 24
Seeing that everyone agreed, Moira placed her hand on the Space Button at her waist.
This was her first Space Button, shaped like a fanny pack—perfect for a disguise.
She turned the Space Button upside down, and a continuous stream of fish poured out.
This continued for several minutes until the fish formed a small mountain, at which point she finally stopped.
Moira gave the Space Button a little shake, dislodging the last fish, and said to the crowd, "This should be enough, right?"
All the players present stared at the mountain of fish, their eyes gleaming.
The giant sea turtle on the deck was enormous, but one shouldn’t forget that a turtle’s body is almost entirely covered by its shell.
The shell alone took up a significant amount of space. Add to that the blood that needed to be drained and the inedible organs, and there really wasn’t much meat on it—nowhere near the amount offered by the mountain of fish.
Meanwhile, some people’s eyes were fixed on the fanny pack Moira had used, their expressions filled with envy.
’To hold that many fish, the space inside must be huge.’
Although many players had obtained Space Buttons from the game, most were still using the ones Moira had brought back.
These particular Space Buttons only had one cubic meter of space. That hadn’t seemed like a problem at first, but after a few rounds of the game, they were starting to feel a little too small.
Even so, the demand for Space Buttons on the market far outstripped the supply.
The Space Buttons Moira had brought back from the game had long since sold out. Now, players who wanted one had only three options. The first was to obtain one from the game, but that was a matter of luck.
The second option was to buy one from another player, but the price would be astronomical—an increase of dozens of times the original price would be considered getting a bargain.
The final option also came down to luck.
That was to get one from a blind box.
That’s right—the countless blind boxes Moira had brought back from the game.
The odds were incredibly slim, but it wasn’t impossible.
When the blind boxes first went on sale, someone had actually pulled a Space Button with several hundred square meters of storage space.
Moira put the Oceanic Gigantauk from the deck into her Space Button, though in reality, she transferred it into her personal dimension.
Just then, Kai York, who had witnessed the entire exchange, sidled up and asked curiously, "What do you want with that turtle? Why give them so many fish in exchange?"
Kai York’s tone held only curiosity, not any displeasure at Moira for having dealt with the food on her own.
After all, Moira had caught those fish herself. Besides, it wasn’t like they were short on fish. There was plenty of time left; if they ran out, they could just catch more.
Besides, Kai York knew that Moira would never make a deal where she lost out.
At that moment, the other players were also surreptitiously watching, harboring the same question.
’Trading a mountain of fish for a single giant turtle is obviously a losing deal.’
It was only because they weren’t the ones who had caught the turtle that they held their tongues.
"I just think it’s a shame... for a turtle that’s grown this large. I want to take it home and keep it as a pet."
Moira blinked her big, bright eyes, her gaze full of such sincerity that anyone who didn’t know better would have thought she was telling the truth.
Hearing her sincere tone and seeing her earnest expression, the onlookers glanced at her youthful face. The last traces of childhood had yet to fade; she was at that age where compassion easily overflows.
Moira’s act might have fooled the others, but it didn’t fool Kai York. Still, he knew he couldn’t reveal the truth in this situation.
Moira, meanwhile, sent the information about the Oceanic Gigantauk to him via her Intelligent Brain. She also included her plan to keep the Ocean Titan as a family heirloom.
After reading the message, Kai York shot Moira a speechless look. After a long silence, he slowly remarked, "You really think far ahead."
Moira gave a smug "Hmph," her expression seeming to say, ’Well, of course.’
But her attention was soon drawn away by others.
’Interesting. These people are actually planning to make a move on me tonight.’
Moira considered for a moment. ’Based on the timing, people from The Federal Government should reach my location tonight.’
’This is perfect. I needed an excuse to get off this ship. I was originally planning to sneak away, but I was worried about a repeat of yesterday’s incident.’
’Their plan plays right into my hands.’
’Talk about perfect timing. Someone hands you a pillow just when you’re feeling sleepy.’
But before that, she needed to give Kai York and the others a heads-up.
She called Kai York, Shane Rhodes, and Hugh Finch over and explained that some people were planning to attack her that night.
The moment she finished speaking, Kai York shot to his feet. "I’ll go take care of them right now!"
With that, he started to leave, but Shane Rhodes and Hugh Finch grabbed him from either side and forced him back down.
"Don’t be rash. Let Moira finish," Hugh Finch said.
Once Kai York had calmed down, Moira finally continued, "I need to slip away for a bit, and this is the perfect opportunity. You all will stay here and make sure this whole incident gets blown way out of proportion."
This was to prevent them from turning the tables on her later.
"Leave? To do what?" Shane Rhodes frowned slightly, his gaze shifting between Moira and Hugh Finch. He had a feeling the two of them were hiding something from him.
Moira glanced at Hugh Finch, and after a moment’s thought, decided to tell the truth.
After all, one lie required countless others to maintain it. Not that Moira minded—’if you can maintain a lie for a lifetime, it’s no different from the truth,’ she believed.
"You remember the two first mates who disappeared from the ship, right?"
Moira had only said that one sentence, but Shane Rhodes immediately understood. "You’re the one who took them."
"Yes," Moira nodded. "They’re both A-rank wanted criminals. Their combined bounties are three hundred fifty million Gold Coins. I’ve already notified The Interstellar Federation Government. They’re sending people to pick them up tonight, and I have to be there for the handover."
Even though they were mentally prepared for her to say something shocking, Shane Rhodes and Kai York were still stunned by Moira’s words.
They knew Moira liked to make big moves on the quiet, but they never expected her to drop a bombshell like this.
Meanwhile, Hugh Finch, who at some point had produced a thermos, slowly took a sip of hot water, a faint smile on his face.
’He’d had pretty much the same reaction as Shane and Kai when he first found out. Now, finally, someone was sharing the shock with him. And he had to admit, watching other people look so stunned wasn’t half bad.’
’Looking at Shane Rhodes and Kai York, their mouths hanging open in shock... he wondered how they’d react when they found out Moira was actually SoySauceDrunkard.’
’The thought was actually pretty exciting. He couldn’t wait to see that happen.’
After the initial shock subsided, Shane Rhodes asked, "Wait a minute. How did you know they were wanted criminals?"
